so why doesn't anyone do it like this? what i mean is, the shock mount. this is the SOA that i put in the rear of my '86 to replace the cracked Rusty's springs. it came out of a JY comanche, and the shock plates were just flipped and shocks are hooked to the top of the springs...not the best way i'm sure, but is there anything particularly wrong with doing it that way?

thanks

can anyone tell me what a bar pin eliminator is/does?

you may also have an ax15 5 speed. just look at the base of yoru shifter and/or at your tranny, go to the junkyard and find one that looks the same, and buy the shifter off it. then install it on yours

New guy,old comanche,late intro.

that may be my problem...vibrates on the front left side. i thought it was my left upper control arm. for me, it's not the ball joints, u joints or LCA bushings...those are all new less than 20k ago. but i didn't replace the track bar...or the UCA bushings. -
so are the airbags functional?

you'd have to call and ask a windshield shop...it may vary upon shops or area. but call the one you intend to use and ask what the windshield plus labor would be.

check your front ball joints...if they're bad they can throw everything out of balance. -

Thinking of selling my Comanche
JeepcoMJ replied to Tom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
mine's from 86 with 68,000 miles on it. i KNOW it sat for many years, and i brought it back. he's spent time and money getting it going from what i grasp. i'd trust it. -
ripped off on ebay, ripped up by ups (dial-up beware!)
JeepcoMJ replied to feerocknok's topic in The Pub
that wasn't ups' fault entirely. they shouldn't have even sent that item at that price. bastards ripped you off -
sorry to do the honors...found this on the random comanche site. why're you redoing it? just some upgrades? i presume it's yours. pretty sweet.

Project Tetanus - H4s & Herculiner

won't work. i said upside down because it will dangle down to the top (shallower end) then. you'd have to be sideways to do it. take a huge flathead screwdriver and slide it into the latch on the pass. side between the gate and the bed. try and slide it with that. or keep tryin what you're doin. either way ya gotta get it popped. -

magnet should work. easiest way tho is to tip the tailgate upside down to find them. kinda moot in your case :P -
reach around from under the dash, reach up to the speedo cable, and follow to the back of the gauge cluster. there's a clip at the end of the speedo cable that you push in. Push that in and keep pushing til the gauge cluster comes loose. easy as pie.

i built my own. yay plasma cutter!

i just stuck the screw driver in the ends by the latches, pryed the latches upen while pulling back on the gate. one side, then the other side. all done! -
if you can get one closer to your year, it never hurts. but if the connectors look the same then there is no difference you can just swap it directly. the main thing is to make sure to disconnect the steering shaft from the actual steering box. if ya don't, you have to get an alignment done as you WILL not get it perfect. no one wants a crooked wheel...

CAD fix (Cheap Posi-Loc System)
JeepcoMJ replied to Landoloops's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yea i'm just using the selec-trac switch, there's no hole for the vacuum switch on the new transmission that i'm looking at...an ax15 from a dodge dakota. -

JeepcoMJ replied to Landoloops's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
mjeff87, did you ever get that done? how does it work? i'm thinking of eliminating my vacuum from the tranny as I have a center console with one of these switches and the new tranny doesn't have vacuum anyways.... -
yea it bolts in. but when you get the steering column, disconnect the steering shaft at the steering box up front. it can only go on 1 way up there, but at the firewall it has to be set. don't do one with air bags, you don't have those and the controls are different. make sure you grab a tilt column with intermittent wipers. just disconnect all the wires, take the little black box that's hooked up to the wiper wires, and bolt it in. easy as that! i've done it 4 times now. the one i'm doing next is putting an air bag one in my 86 when i convert it to a grey or black interior...to get the newer style cruise control...

thanks 87manche. It should be a direct bolt in with maybe some drilling. the 4cyl. dakotas supposedly had the same bellhousing as mine, so that's what I need. then I'm sure I'll have to make custom linkages for the 4wd and it will sit either farther forward or back from my tranny, so i'll need to alter my front and rear driveshafts :( more work sadly.
