  1. just be delicate when removing them and take your time...if you can't get them out with little effort (one type just pulls out, the other has screws on the back), then you're doing something wrong and it's time to take a step back and analyze... gauges are pretty easy to mess with though.
  2. I'm about 60% sure I'd be able to go..it will depend on what is going on for swim team training and meets.
  3. insurance should cover all the damaged electronics. it's a natural "disaster" but depending... and yeah, that sucks.
  4. Canyon's don't have enough BS to fit a 12.5" wide tire without rubbing unless you add spacers. Just trying to save you a headache... that's what they said about these rims :P they have even LESS bs lol. I think the canyons will work their way toward the 3800 or my dad's diesel...the smooth lines on them would not go with the rest of the truck's boxy lines (with the waggy grille i mean). thanks for the help :D
  5. Rob, I've done that :P just to get it from here to rochester (2 or 3 miles) so that I could sandblast the bad spots. now when I road-tested it, the alignment was TERRIBLE so I'm fixing that in the AM here, and reconnecting the e-brakes/adjusting them. after that, finish rockers/cab corners tomorrow, extend front lines tomorrow too, and decide which rims I'm using on it (either canyons or these ones...) so that I can get them balanced and have new valve stems put in.
  6. front is higher than the rear too.... I have a feeling that with the added weight of the t-case and 4wd aw4 it may drop down enough...
  7. pics of the rear axle complete with brake lines bled and e-brake lines...and shocks... the bucket seats I had intended on putting in the 89 didn't end up there...I don't know what they are out of, they were in a cherokee my buddy and I picked up and I got them out of the deal. but here they are in my bro's 88MJ note the differences between stock and this... they match his dark grey dash and center console really well. we have a set of dark grey door panels for a power window setup when we install the power windows... the seats that WERE in his 88 ended up being the basis of the 89's seats. I combined them with the pair of MJ passenger seats to make one solid (non-tilt) driver's side seat, and 1 tilt passenger side seat, both are on swivel-type xj seat frames with MJ mounts. I am gonna make my own folding center console/seat with a factory xj console armrest, a home-made storage box, and a lower frame. all will have cushions built in and be covered in grey leather that matches. debating whether to hard mount it, or to mount it on a sliding track to move in tandem with pass side seat...probably hard mount.
  8. brakes are plumbed in the rear, just need to extend the front lines. gotta put the 2wd leafs out of the "new" rig in it...it just sits too high in back for my comfort. left to do to make it functional; connect e-brakes and tune them extend front lines finish cab corners and weld them + rockers put in bucket seats (doing that tonight) front end alignment, and grease all greasables. take her for a flex-run. after I finish her, I'm getting plates...but not going to drive her for awhile for insurance purposes (will be expensive to get my own...any input on what to look for?)
  9. nice, but it seems that your control arms are just a tad (like, .25") short...the wheel is tucked back. it's clean so far, get that 4wd in!
  10. you'd be splicing about half that. because the other half goes directly to the firewall connector...so that would be the solution to the problem other solution, rip out your dash and put the entire interior harness from the cherokee in it. then the only wires you have to splice are for your rear lights, and your rear speakers and B-column lights. on a scale of 1-10, I'd give the wiring swap a difficulty level of about 3 when it comes down to it. is it costing you money to have around? will it be cool to have functioning when it's done? if the former is no, I suggest keeping it since you're making bank anyways...and fixing it slowly

    '76 Camaro

alex, buying a 76 camaro for gas mileage is akin to me buying a 4.0 with 3.07's and putting 33" tires...I don't expect to get 20+mpg and neither should you.
  12. lol...I felt the same way, but it wasn't really that much sacrafice with how high this thing is and how I will be wheeling...I know I won't be doing what you do offroad, just minor wheeling/fun stuff no rock climbing. I'll be making leadplates for it though...so that if I do get up on a rock or something, there will be a skid leading up to it or something. that will at least help make sure it doesn't just rip itself apart.
  13. driveshaft was too short...net lift in the rear was approx. 8" due to the aftermarket rear springs I apparently have :P and thanks :D
  14. oh, and how about "dua"l exhaust out of a 2004 nissan 350z? :P got a COMPLETE factory single in/dual out system for free.
  15. I can't weld (well). so I had my dad weld the perches for me at my grandpa's shop. I made the shock mounts first out of the stock ones ubolts still go through this, but now it's simply a side-along shock mount welded to the perches and axle tube dad welding it. my eyes wer closed, not the camera :P here it is with the shocks all mounted up, and some views of the system and how it works sorry for how dark they are hooked ebrake lines up ...they were kinda floppy and I was worried about the passenger side one hitting the exhaust. solution to the problem was a set of cable clamps with a return spring off something or another between them. centers it on the truck, and allows for flexing and movement while flexing. I will add another set of springs which connect to either side of the diff housing at a later date...to keep flopping and noise from that to a minimal as I'm sure these won't be quiet. and attached the "soft line" for the rear brakes. gotta plumb rear brakes tomorrow and then the rear axle is completely done. next thing after that is to extend the front brake llines (will also do tomorrow), and finish the cab corners then weld up and seal the rockers off. it's getting bucket seats this week as well, no full center console...I'm going to make my own fold-up center console/armrest/3rd seat from some snowmobile foam and stuff complete with seatbelt. and it will be made to be comfortable :P got ???'s? ask. or if I did anything wrong/ please let me know... 16. no clue what she's worth and sadly, I have too many. yes, you need to put the fuse box from the xj in it...the stuff from the 2.5 is wrong. the wrong part is the connector at the bulkhead that you connected the 4.0 harness too, all of the "pins" (metal connectors) are in a completely different order. so you swap that in, and she'll fire. oh you will need to do some wire splicing and in this scenario, clamping the wires is NOT a good idea. neither is electrical tape..when it comes to this you should consider soldering it all together. I think you should keep her and work on her every other sunday til she runs...it's only about 4 hours of work left. last thing, on the fuse box, you will be cutting out wires. but you won't be cutting one single wire that's between the fuse box and that bulkhead (firewall) connector. don't. that is the problem area right there, and the point of the fusebox swap is to replace this.
  17. yes yes, that's all nice. but what I really wanna know is... IS HE REALLY PROUD OF THAT ARTIE-CRAP? it's got leopard print seats, it's about as heavy than an RX-1 yamaha 4-stroke, but without the power output, it has no suspension, and worse yet, it's powered by a wanko rotary....EESH. my dad repairs/parts out snowmobiles. know what we do with these? we sell them to idiots who collect arctic-cats for dirt cheep. the guys have to feed their addiction (hmm...sounds like me + jeeps), and it's easy cause they're worthless.... :P
  18. it would get higher...I know how to precision-tune things or just have them run correctly in general.... i mean, they're rated at 27mpg as a 2wd and 25 as 4wd. if it's running right and I drive it right, i'd get gas mileage
  19. wicked. I want them
  20. lol, I talked to her. she's nice. I really like how your truck is coming along btw. it impresses me alot....the black on the doors looks good but are you gonna make a spare set of half doors or anything?
  21. stop, drop, and...... replace.
  22. haha, I have 2 trucks titled in my name right now, and I'm not even halfway through college. I've sold my snowmobile to feed the addiction, and don't have a gas mileage car...if anything, I'd just want to fix this one to drive it daily for the gas mileage :P oh, did I mention it's been sitting for 3 years and it started and ran well in less than 20 min?
  23. I don't need another project, as much as I want a 2wd comanche...
  24. it's raining so this is all I got It's really a nice looking little truck. it's a sport truck btw.
  25. got it. tires hold air. $70 no title like I said, but I've found the information (in it no less) to acquire the title. gonna do that. got it home. motor was "junk" :P. yea, right! so I messed with it a bit. broke out the entire steering column trying to get the damn key lock out...well, now I have a broken steering column that needs replacing, BUT I did manage to disconnect the system so that I can start her up by pushing the rod. I should have just removed the switch at the bottom of the column... after cranking and all that good stuff, still wouldn't start (battery dead but was plugged into charger). decided to check some connections...ignition coil was a bit dirty, cleaned that, and she started up on 3rd try. ran rough and smoked for a minute or so, then smoothed out and now she purrs like a kitten. like new! yay. hooked driveshaft up (was removed), and took her for a spin. realized that this truck experienced it's own bit of gas pedal breakage and had been "repaired". so I will be putting the throttle from tater in it. filled 3 trash cans with the debris from the truck, but kept any information I found. passenger side door doesn't open. interior lights are MINT condition :D aaaaanywho, thought I'd share that I'm a awesome. haha, seriously though, If I can't get the title, I will be selling parts or whole...rims and whatever parts I think I need, will be mine.
