little explanation... opsled runs a business through ebay and sells fairly large items..so shipping would be high anyways. well, he says it flat out and then people are amazed when it costs $100 to $150 to ship a 2 cylinder 2 stroke motor plus the parts to make it run and bolt it into your vehicle of choice. he says it flat out. Now, compound that to saying "I'm from Canada" after he says it costs more to ship to canada due to someone else's taxes and whatnot...and you almost get sick of people complaining. I mean, $100 isn't that much to ship something like that in the first place. and UPS doesn't have 100% control over Canada's tax policy or their import policy. too, even if there is an american-made tax or whatever, it is not UPS' fault. so people whining is something he sees alot. kinda not fun.

not true. all fees are actually set by the Canadian government. they control their own tax. are you trying to say we control Canada? it would be good if we did, but we don't.

I'd have a professional d-shaft shop do everything. no offense, but if you're not a professional welder or have not done it ALOT then you shouldn't be building driveshafts. at least with spring perches you have the fallback of the ubolts to hold the axle on, but with the d-shaft, if it breaks, it's gonna go flying.

as a swap, with a donor, it's not hard. swap literally EVERYTHING from the donor. including the rad support etc. your hood will also have to be changed (be it altered or swapped entirely) to the 4.0 style, as the latches are different (one on each side) the motor mounts bolt up to the frame, tranny to crossmember (but crossmember location will change to a different position...don't worry, the holes should be there) depending on the earliness of your truck (early 86) it may need a bit of a pounding on a part of the firewall to clear the 4.0. a sledge will fix it easily and it won't affect anything behind the firewall. don't let anyone tell you you have ti swap firewalls, cause they are 100% wrong. it shouldnt take long to swap, but will require you to drill out some spot welds on your rad. supports (sides, and lower) and weld them in on the 2.8. no big deal. if it were me, I'd put in a 3800 buick motor from a camaro or firebird... :brows:

here's what I did on the dana 44. I also had one that was a flip-over style like you're talking about on the junk 86, and it's crappy. the shocks don't flex correctly. anyways, that worked out good...it allows me to retain stock rear shocks and works out very well. no high $$$ spent on new shocks

nice, dad. I agree

no, 2dr xj's are longer doors 4 door xj front doors are the same. if they make tube doors for those, then they will work on a manche.
-
yea, you disconnect the wiper arm (it's very self-explaintory and requires a flathead screwdriver to pry with) and move the arms to a different spot on the spline. problem solved

if they do, they're not a factory. the dually wasn't factory. it was a straight-off-the line unfinished truck that went to a company that got jeep corp's specific approval to design and build. approx. 11 were made. one is in the states (that I know of) the other is in hawaii. that's all that I know were built. as for the convertible, it could be something in the same catagory. if that's the case, he's CRAZY if he is plowing with it. is it black and orange? if so that's a custom job, not even any sort of "production." some guy did one of them and sold it on ebay.

Thanks Rob. I really do regret it. but i'm done. this goes, and I may see what else I can build. I think it's time for a wrangler or somethin for next year's build. just not now.

lol, so my asking price shouldn't be too outrageous. it goes on craigslist this week.

hahahaha. yeah. like i'd let the white one go for less than 7k. I've got at least that into it. hand in hand, the white one is just worth more in sentimentality AND general investment than the red one... finishing up the 89 this weekend and it goes on ebay/craigslist this week unless someone lets me know they want it. for you guys, I'll take $2700 OBO. it will go for $3000 on ebay hopefully. I'd rather see it go to someone on here.

the other one won't gross me anywhere near the $$$ to even pay for what I need. this will. I'm 20, I'm fulltime in school, and considering that, I don't really have time for this. if you can come up with a way to get me $2100 without sellin it, let me know.
-
how much do you guys think the 89 is worth (with rockers finished and back leveled out). it will be finished this weekend. and then it's time to assess my situation. upon purchase/build I had no intention of going back to school. things changed.

yea, but you've never had a potentially out of balance driveshaft issue have you? best to get everything covered now. -

ya kno, no offense, but honestly at this point...I would have the place that does driveshafts just do your ujoints and balance it. just doing the ujoints is taking a risk and possibly wasting them. the driveshaft shop will do everything correctly and you'll be done with it. -

you've been down many roads pops. sometimes it's a wonder you came back in one piece :P  :teehee: -
I think it looks like a bus. this roof thing will be made for the 89. so yes, it will be a waggomanche :D goals with it are: tube frame with roof set on top, remove xj pillars and headliner, keep seatbelt harness support thingers in there to function as either seatbelt mounts, or some sort of strap to strap it down.... roof rack it and put an xj upper rear hatch on it (cut hatch in half), with canvas sides. that, plus half doors would be sweet

is it 2wd or 4wd? ujoints, mismatched axleshafts, unbalanced front driveshaft could all come into play. only other thing is your control arm bushings. is your track bar mount bolted down tight? -
this isn't the trailer..but it's similarly located

hey, climbed up the rock pile again... and a lineup of all the trucks on our premises at the moment..

no offense but it doesn't look like there was any prep on that...there's paint all over your windows and its a bit wavy. i like the color though -
steering column questions
JeepcoMJ replied to rubiconron's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a ba10 5 speed in my 89. I don't like the ba10. I also want the ease of not shifting while wheeling, or to keep it in lower gears. so my decision becomes an aw4 with brettm's shifter kit. I'm opting to install an auto over a manual
