  1. hmm. After looking these over, i now realize why my brakes feel soft. the PO before the PO I got it from had brake work done. new lines put in and the prop valve was bypassed. except the line from the valve was just looped into the line feeding into the rear axle. so now I think I have an issue where it feeds fluid back to the front when I step on brakes? does that sound correct?

    ebay guy?

nope, but please elaborate on the why you need to know...
  3. yea, get a smaller toolbox that fits between the rails...

    $1000 per day?

your I have no kids so it doesn't make sense to go over there thinking is kinda flawed. not having kids would be one less thing to worry about so it would free you up to go over there...
  5. lol, i thought the rod went all the way through. thought wrong....
  6. yea there is, it's called fuel injection. a 4.2 is OK but I'd beef up the 4.0 before putting a 4.2 in...carbs suck
  7. shakedown run went well. I'm more than happy with the performance of it. except that now the actuator doesn't engage in 4 hi...and I have a suspicion that that has to do with the tranny drop screwing with the shift linkage a bit  gotta figure it out. won't be working on it much the rest of the week...tomorrow am I replace a tranny cooler line on my friend's xj I built for him, friday I rewire the lights on my grandpa's 40 ft flatbed, plus work from 1pm on both days, and saturday I help my buddy torch his xj to the ground so that I get the axles, roof, and some other little things, and he gets his replacement body panels, and alot of scrap $$$.
  8. :P I have access to alldata, and proof of how well it works is the fact that the wiring on the 3800 allows for it to actually run. it's a great thing to have. if you have the password, you can access it at your home too.
  9. yep, you disassemble the m/c and swap the old booster rod in. problem solved ok so can i do this at home and if so how yes, you can. I don't know exactly what is entailed, but you need the newer m/c and the older m/c out and cleaned up, then you take them both apart, swap the rod, and put the newer m/c rod into the older m/c and put the old one back in... or just put the new style m/c and booster in...
  10. I'll get on alldatapro.com tomorrow to figure it out...I can post up pics after that but you better know how to read wiring diagrams lol.
  11. lol. regardless of whether it's worth $$$ to beef one up, if you have the parts and only have to invest $300 into it...well, I say why not. it makes a fun project and it's not something anyone else has ever seen. just like the chrysler 8.25 test front end that was just on ebay a bit ago...it was pretty interesting to see since it was a chrysler attempt to upgrade the dana 30 front axle in xj's
  12. springs have been on for IDK how long. so yes, they're broken in...at least the past 20,000 as it was done 2 owners before. it needs to be lower...for safety and insurance purposes, I don't want 8" of lift. and then I'd need new CA's or a longarm kit. I want to keep these springs in case I go higher later on, and I don't want to go through the hassle of swapping springs right now as I don't have space to have 2 trucks sitting for even half a day w/o springs. so middle it is.
  13. *shrug* it's worth the money
  14. on my 89, I the back end sits to high due to the aftermarket stanley springs. if I wanted to simply lower it (its 3.5" higher in the back and looks bad), which leaf would you advise me to remove? it will be a bit higher in the rear regardless (I hope) so that it can hold some weight back there and not lose articulation. I got a set of xj shackles coming my way as well...those will drop it about 1" to 1.5" so maybe I will do that first, if it's still too high, I can put the stockers in and drop a leaf. ?
  15. anyone have a picture of it in the axle (so I can see the axleshafts?)? I've tried searching a few sites, and google, but no avail.

    $1000 per day?

not a chance. I'd stay home and keep a nice job here.
  18. yep, you disassemble the m/c and swap the old booster rod in. problem solved
  19. it had abs. therefore it's probably got 297 ujonts.
  20. click me! click that and read. it goes through the steps to get your dana 30 (reverse cut gears are best) to be a full-float axle with disco hubs and 297 ujoints. good read
  21. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D We're cuttin up the truck on saturday early AM it should be fun. I get good axles out of the deal :D finally no more terrible front axle on the 3800. it's still a HP too.
  22. thanks! hmm...I think I'll still grab the booster anyways cause the one in the 3800 has a drill hole (repaired with a rivet and some calk...) in it. still gettin a good deal on the axles tho I think...they'd be a good upgrade to the 3800 as my front axle is bent, and my rear is a damn turdy-5...
  23. got a friend who's junking a 94 xj he and I picked up. it has a chryco 8.25 rear axle, dana 30 non-disco front with 3.55's and all associated hardware. when I compare the shafts where the ujoints go to the ones on the 3800 or the 89, I notice they're much heavier duty shafts...but is that the better ujoint as well then? sorry no pics. also, would this be the year to upgrade my booster from? I'm taking the prop valve for the 89, and I also got the aftermarket seats, and seat belts, will get the shackles, ebrake assembly, 3 piece grille (for a friend), tilt column (will need electrical mod to work with older style system) plus lock cylinders, all computers, cruise module, and a few other things I can't think of... all for $100 and I help him scrap it (chop nice rockers and rear pass quarter so we can replace the ones on his DD/wheeler). the PO thought it didn't run well so he scrapped all of the engine compartment stuff on the engine and general things associated with the engine...meaning intake, valve cover, all wheels and brackets, all wiring...you get the idea... Jake payed $160 for it after that. I think it has LSD too. 101,000 miles on the dot.
  24. I built mine with an extension and some washers. didn't take long and works nice.
