  1. drove it for the first time in a few weeks. need to replace some idler pulleys up front, maybe alternator. still have spares of those tho so thats ok. been tossing ideas around w/ it.... sell as-is. drop to 4.5" with my spare set of 31x11.50 swampers, put 3.73 30 front and 44 rear that I have in it, paint, put in OME shocks. I have all parts but the shocks. drop to the 3800's old 3" lift and 31x10.50 dayton timberlines, put the 3800's front fenders and clip on, finish painting the truck green, finish interior swap to 95 with a full center console and carpet. swap in my np242 and stock rear DS, and my spare 3" shocks. then d/d it. closer to stock, and restored comanches are worth more than heavily modified ones. OR... Image Not Found do that bed only full length with a proper tailgate and flares, put the 35's on the truck, and longarm the front. also add provisions for gerry cans in the front corners, and a military shovel and hi-lift mount on the sides. fuel tank (fuel cell) in the bed. tailgate would be swingout to the right with a drop-pin instead of handle, and would be built to still say JEEP in the center using the center from a rusted tailgate that I have. the ONLY reason I want to sell it is that I feel bad wheeling a nice MJ with a stock box. take away the box, and I'd be cool with it. plus then the box is around for a nice d/d street truck build.
  2. welcome! before you get too much into the truck, yank the bed off and straighten the cab and "frame"....frame's bent right behind the cab. looks to be about 1.5" upward bend.
  3. damn. I payed $300 for my kayak at the end of august. but, it was a brand new $1000 kayak and I got it as a promo @ the end of the season... to water sports
  4. that would work. another thing you could do.... basic regional. as in only one subforum per regional....not a complete list of subforums for the subforum. as in...attach subforums to the pub. so we have midwest, great lakes, etc. etc. divided up. not more complicated like state by state. pretty simple to do. guys from that area would look @ it if attached to the pub, and ANYTHING can be posted in the regional sub forums.
  5. I actually agree with multipurposemj. Pete...look at it this way. you have a region chairmen who takes care of cleaning up the posts so you're not bothered by it, and people can click on their region to find what's going on rather than wading through all the other crap in the pub etc. to try and find what's going on in their neighborhood. the simple problem with the way the site is now, is that it's EVERYWHERE and any other topic can come up and take a regionary topic off the first page. then no one sees it, and the meet and greet is a flop and whatnot. region would be better for wrench fests etc.
  6. agreed. do the spring perches properly. you still have the leather tan front seats? I'm looking for a pair
  7. yeah....I don't think they put the 3550 behind an engine that generates less than 100hp.
  8. well. my mom is mad at my sister (sister is 24 or 25) because every time she breaks up with a boyfriend, the VERY NEXT guy who shows interest in her ends up being the next one. and the current one....he's a sally girly man. 230lbs of softness. not a calous on his hand. cheesy romantic loser who likes to spend all his free time cooking, eating, or (and this is his preferred) having my sister cook for him. he left my mom stranded on a bridge between dubuque IA and the WI border, when her oldsmobile mini van broke down (overheated, blew head gasket, wrecked trans....she shouldn't have been driving it anyways). she repeated FIVE TIMES to him that she needed anti-freeze. his response was "is there anything you need me to do?". finally she got fed with that, and he left. he couldn't even get the radiator cap off the van. what a pus.
  9. I completely agree. I have to ask though, Why when I bring up the problem, do I simply get flamed by wahoosteeler? fact of matter is, I get nastier to people as they get nastier to me. As far as I'm concerned, goblazers and multipurposemj need to grow up and stop being provocative. Every post I see from them is posted purposefully to attract attention. that seems a bit too much to me.
  10. low gear lube, bad bearing @ front of cross/lay shaft, bad midplate bearings are about all that could cause that. check the t-case shift linkage tho to be sure it's connected and adjusted properly and actually in 2wd not 4 hi.
  11. haha, you no someone named morris. Morris is his last name. it's still funny as hell. No, what's funny as hell is that Ben made fun of you with this thread and you just jumped right in and "oh yeah, i talked to a guy about the 87 blah blah blah". :shake: actually, what's pretty funny is your constant lack of ability to interpret the fact that I don't actively go make fun of other member's threads, because I'm actually NOT a jackass and some others here are. I'm here cause I like the trucks. we share that common fact. so, while he may not like my thread, and I may not like his, at least I'm not gonna go ahead and be a fool about it. maybe you should grow up a bit. ya think? i mean, it's a little amazing that you're what? in your 40's? ya should probably stop acting like a bully and start acting like an adult. For someone who isn't trying to be a "dick", you sure are a fool. wahoo is getting as good as he deserves.
  12. *shrug* as sarcastic as you may be, I actually think it's funny. hopefully that works out. Anyways, I talked to several people about several MJ's today.

I am actually 24, now let's quit crying and get back to discussing our discussions about our comanches!!! *Sigh* I was talking to the dinosaur who started this off-topic finger pointing part of the conversation. (wahoosteeler) I've really got no problems with you multipurposemj

  15. I agree. that's a great mount design...especially if you like mud. easier to clean the top of the frame rail out.
  16. selectable would be the best way to go. that said...why not run selectable front, and just run either a trac-loc limited slip in the rear, or a simple detroit in the rear? A limited slip in the rear and locker up front will help immensely, and keep you 100% street-able, and not affect your tires much (if at all) when it comes to wear. you'll still be able to get through alot of the most difficult terrain as well.
  17. I'd be interested in selling you all the parts out of this truck for a H.O. and 4x4 conversion. hell, if you gave me $1000, I'd give you a 4x4 ax15, 4.0 resealed and painted to your choice with a bored throttle body, and the complete conversion harness and pedals, plus a matched gear front axle (matched to what you currently have in your truck), np231 and shift linkage. then you just need a clean body and some time to swap parts. you'd recover half of that easy from what you remove from the MJ. just a thought...
  18. yea... um. if you manage a body lift, I'll gladly listen to your advice on how to do it.
  19. found all of my 4.5" lift parts. prepping them, then throwing them in the 87 with my other set of axles (3.73 disco front converted to non-disco shafts, dana 44 rear which needs the 3.73 trac-loc carrier and gearset installed), then putting my 31x11.50 superswampers on for wheeling, my 31x10.50 dayton timberline a/t's off of the 3800 will be the street tires. only thing I'm missing that I will need is spring perches, and shocks. everything in it will go in the 3800.
  20. :rotf: :rotfl2: :clapping: I had to. I would consider selling it to you though...you could use a nice little comanche as a d/d
  21. yeah, the ax-4 and ax-5 are SIMPLE to rebuild. as long as you have a press to take the gears off the output shaft lol. done several of them myself.
  22. lol. We do real estate. no one was home, so I copied down the address, and looked it up on GIS....that will give you everything you need to know. it's a matter of public record I'm in real estate too, and use GIS. And GIS doesn't tell you it's got a new exhaust and that the old man died 4yrs ago LOL. I say stalker. haha. no, but I looked at the truck, saw the house was co-owned by the husband and wife (which I thought was strange), and looked at D.O.D. information in that county. plus, she told me so over the phone :D that eliminator is REALLY clean. I'm almost thinking of doing just floor repairs on the driver's side, putting a new set of tires on it, and driving it as a daily driver.

  24. spotted an 89/90 comanche eliminator rust free except for ONLY outer driver's floor from having the windows open. full bucket/console. located the owner, left a message. it's got a brand new exhaust but hasn't moved since I originally spotted it 4 months ago....and the window was down then, too (covered in snow). owner is elderly...it was her husbands but he passed 4 years ago and it hasn't moved since. she'd like it gone....doesn't know (or really care) how much. a coworker of mine would like it for now as an intermediate vehicle so he can sell and pay off his grand prix. he's gonna buy a cherokee within a few months then I'd get this back. would be a nice little dd with very little effort (4wd conversion a must) also spotted (and bought) a 91 comanche 2wd 4.0 HO 5 speed swb which is now proof that you could still get a dana 44 rear in 1991. it has 305k on it but engine runs strong and is supposedly "factory reman" with 2000 miles (very oily...won't know til I remove the a/c bracket and see the reman plate). just needs a clutch to drive. bucket seats shorty console... $300 picking it up tomorrow and just taking it to my storage and parking it next to my 95 cherokee body (this is likely a future cheromanche project donor) I've gotten rid of most of my parts, but at least this one's a H.O. and the other one's a clean body. the 91 is parts only....too rusty to repair. strip, store parts, use in a future project....the parts from it won't take up too much room thank God.
