  1. A small backround on this truck. I picked this baby up in October 2010, just sitting along the road with a "For Sale" sign. A friend noticed it and gave me a call, I figured it was atleast worth a look but having just bought an MJ a month ago i didnt think it was gonna sway me to spend money on another.....boy was I wrong! It was a beauty for sure, 1990 Eliminator, 4.0/AX15/231/D30/D44! A quick phone call and mesage left with the owner and the next day I brought it home for $1500. I cleaned up up the best I could and only had to fix a few small issues. No rust was found anywhere, the interior was flawless. The only issue that really hurt this truck was the condition of the paint. She cleaned up nicely, early on ;) Over the next few months here's how it progressed. The rollbar was the last major add on I did before i put this truck away for winter last year. I shipped it off to be painted on March 3rd and thats where the legacy of Walker had begun :wrench: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For a few months now I'm not sure if anyone took notice to my signature. However I sent my 1990 MJ Eliminator off a few months ago to be transformed into an MJ that hasnt been duplicated to prior knowledge and to 1 that true Jeep and Comanche Enthusists alike will appreciate when they lay eyes upon it. I'm proud to finally show you "Walker" in progress Painting and major work is scheduled for completion by early next week, and I'm more than excited to bring it all home. This is my Dodge Viper of MJs and Ill have a show worthy peice when its all finished......Ive been holding out on any details thus far but I couldnt keep my mouth shut anymore.....I'm more excited than a Termite in a Log cabin!
  2. Keeping the flares black? If so, pick up some "trim paint" or "bumper coating" from a local auto parts store and spray em up. theyll look OEM new again ;)
  3. The exhaust was needing alittle work, ill get it all welded up tomorrow. Planning on getting it on the road in the next week or so ;)
  4. Another great choice! I enjoy watching his build progress and he's always there with good advice when possible. Good job man!
  5. Now that is pretty cool! I'm definently a bit jelous ;) :D
  6. Did not know that....thanks for the info!
  7. Still have to clean up the rims, but it came out into the sunlight for the 1st time yesterday! I got the color matched toolbox installed last evening as well :wrench: Just gotta finish up the seats and get it a tag and shes ready for the road then :clapping:
  8. Alright another quest of maybe ridding 1 of you fellas of some stuff around your garage. I'm looking for a set of "wing" style mirrors for the doors. They are exibit B listed below (bottom Left setup) , just the small 1s that attach with 2 screws. Shoot me any offers if you have a set.....thanks!
  9. I'm amazed at how hard to find or how expensive these boogers are! I'm looking for a set of windsheild washer nozzles, these are the small plastic things that sit in the cowl area and connect to the washer line. I know somebodys got a parts truck or an extra cowl laying around. I'm open to offers but paying $15 for a set of these things is rediculous. Anyway Thanks a bunch!
  10. Maybe its time refresh the grounds on the server :D
  11. 1 Gallon of premium outdoor Satain paint, 2 rollers a few foam brushes and went after it! Yep....thats a roll on job, no compressor or spray gun ;) Well except the gold, that was just typical aresol spray paint.
  12. Its all back together again! Pictures tomorrow! :jump:
  13. took off a few tape stripes today, a few spots need some touching up but overall I'm pretty happy with the design.....can't wait to see it all back together :D
  14. After a year+ on "Dads Wood Truck" the paint still looks as great as the day i applied it. That truck sits outside 24/7 in all the elements. That was enough proof for me. Sure you might not get the "new car" shine out of a roll on paint job but its sure more durable than anything besides maybe bedliner  Also very cheap compared to most paint ;)
  15. I decided to jump into this paint project full force this weekend. I got everything taped up Saturday afternoon. Went ahead and sprayed the stripes on 1st, I would make it easyer to tape over them for the paint than to tape them off after paint. Also the overspray would be painted over as well. ;) Late Saturday night I made a trip to Lowes and got all my supplies. After taping over the stripes after a few hours for drying, the 1st coat was applied and the truck began showing signs of new life. Ive gotten 3 full coats applied now (Sunday night) and tomorrow evening the tape will all be removed! I'm anxious to see the end result and am very happy with where it is at this point! Keep checking back!
  16. Looks like a 4cyl pump. Theyll both fit into the sending unit the same ;)
  17. Not a huge Moto GP fan but that was pretty cool!
  18. You can usually get new Lock rings and O rings from any Auto Parts store, chances are it has been tweaked a bit. Remember the XJ (Cherokee) lock rings and o rings are the same as well ;)
  19. Completed the sanding today. Also installed a new cap/rotor and Wires ;) Id noticed the steering was very "easy" to operate and kinda twitchy, Sure enough the old stabilizer could be collapsed with my pinky finger, I had a new Rough Country stabilizer on the shelf i never used so on it went 8) All better. :clapping:
  20. Installed a new TB gasket, that should help the minor stumbling i have at idle. A few new "tune up" items are on the way, and paint isnt far off ;)
  21. For some reason i wanna say June 6th 1992 was when the final MJ laft the line. I know it was early June though ;)
  22. Some major headway this evening in getting this truck prepped for paint. With help from a friend we got the rest of the decals and emblems stripped. Then it was onto some fun with the rotary sander. I got the new(er) grill and headlight bezels straightend out and when tonights work was over, this is what pulled back into the garage ;) Ill probably get my paint and supplies later this week and quite possibly by the end of next week this sucker will have some paint :jump:
  23. I just used a universal plate light and mounted it to a removable reciever mount with the wiring spliced into a trailer harness plug...not the prettiest thing but it works ;)
  24. Nice! thats a RARE package you got there  Take care of it, and we'll be happy to watch your progress. Theyre VERY easy to fall in love with :wrench:
  25. Walker Evans won the 1990 Mickey Thompston Stadium Series championship with Jeep and the Comanche. I believe the program was switched to Dodge Dakotas in 93 but the orgional Comanche setups returned later in the season just with Dakota bodies untill the series was killed off in the mid 90s.
