Wrong. Back in the 60s or 70s, they made 1 or 2 models with IFS, so it's not a first for Jeep, but rather a rareity. The old IFS Jeeps still had 4wd, I believe one was the Jeepster.Learn something new every day!!

Yeah, YJ = Square headlights = Leaf Sprung all the way around, Spring-UnderAxle Tj = Round headlights = coils all the way around, and 4 link suspensions Yj had the option of the 4.2L in its earlier years, or the 2.5l, later following would be the 4.0 TJs have a 2.5l and a 4.0 option. The NEW round headlight jeeps are JK's. And, just for clarification, until the LIBERTY they DID NOT MAKE a JEEP with Independent front SUspension, or anywhere, for that matter. All TJ's and YJ's were 4wd, except they made around 2000 2wd YJ's around 88-89, IIRC. The new JK's have a 2wd option :nuts: :mad: :nuts: :mad:

I live somewhat off the coast (50 miles or so) and vehicles down here in good ole' florida seem to do very well for rust, as long as you're not dipping your boat in the ocean using your jeep, expect the backhalf to rot off

I would recommend going 350/700R4 or Ls/LT1/4L60E Both sweet trannies, and killer motors. Or, you can always score a TH350 (Turbo 350 tranny) for cheap!

Good lookin' out there Nook, thats what I was just going to say. Seems excessive to be leaking EVERYWHERE without a problem, unless that thing just REALLY has been lacked out on maintenance. DEFINITELY do the rear main while youre in there, search on here or naxja for writeups, theyre plentiful, shoot, you can google it too. and mostly, DO the work yourself! youll love yourself for it! While youre doing the RMS/oil pan, torque down everything in your front end while youre at it! Good luck!
