^ if you can't figure it out (everybody told me about pins and confused the $#!& out of me), I think I have a pic of the forks on a '90 Ranger that might be of some help.
-
I've seen early-mid 90's with WELL over 200k on them for going 12k-14k in this area. Nice snag!
-
I'd rather 4BT swap mine for the same price.

Old 12v Cummins. Great mileage, great towing. Or, any old diesel for towing and an old diesel Jetta (50+ MPG) for DD.
-
Don't forget used filtered motor oil.

As many problems as I had with my old Jetta (Practically everything under the hood was replaced at least once), I miss that thing like crazy. Hoping to save up the cash here soon to start on an old diesel for commuting and so I can really work on my 'manche.

Since the valve cover was off, and cleaned up to replace the gasket and do the mod, I'm taking the extra couple hours to paint it. :dunno: Matt; thank you so much! I think I may just run the air filter on the CCV still, and got another grommet for the rear. However, I'm thinking I'll return it and grab up the full set you recommended. Thanks again.

Sorry for the late response. Once I'm done helping my buddy toss in his tranny ( :wall: ) I will be bleeding my clutch and pumping some new gear oil and lucas additive into it as well to see if that helps at all. As far as the idling, it was not to warm up the truck, but to warm up myself (sitting in the break room isn't much warmer than the sub-freezing temps outside). However, once my buddy's truck is running, he will be driving so it doesn't really matter. Besides the times at work, I only let it warm up for about 5 minutes while I gather my things and head out the door and de-ice.

Went to get another grommet for the rear, since it was all puckered up. Also got a new PCV grommet and valve. Would it be acceptable to run the PCV to the back of the air filter (into the tube there) or just run another air filter with a properly fitting grommet? Also did the valve cover mod and will be painting it. Build thread coming when I'm done all finished up.

I put in the cold-air, but the hose was already cut. :dunno: No, there was a small air filter in the vent hole. Should I plug it, or try and run an OE airbox again? (Or mod it into the cold-air?)
-
Truck came with this hose cut off when first purchased, totally forgot about it until I was working on the valve cover yesterday. What's it for? Talking about the one in front that's been cut.

You missed the part where I said I let it idle at work on my lunch break to stay warm. And I've read from a couple different places that it's good to let your vehicle idle for a while until I gets warm so there is proper lubrication.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'm heading to NAPA tomorrow

Bump. Confirmation that it's an AX-15? Payday is tomorrow.

What if you could build a brand new Jeep Comanche?

A wider frame/roomier interior. Those damn benches make it almost impossible to get the truck rocking - even for a small guy like me. -
Once upon a time, I found a list with the best brands to go for when doing a tune-up. Did a search on here, and could not find the list. Does anybody have a link handy, or wanna give me a run-down on what works better than others for the tune-up items? I'm used to running pretty much Bosch everything because my old VW thrived off of them. Gracias.

Buffalo, haven't thought a thing about the TPS, will look into that. As far as the injectors, I'm sure those need an overhaul here soon, as well. mvusse, I plan on upgrading down the road to 33s or 35s and don't want to regear yet again. Cheyenne, it does it most often when I am backing out of a parking spot. maddzz, no I have not. kaiser, never thought of that. The GPS on my phone does not show current speed. Just downloaded a digital speedo. We'll see if that works.

It looks like an AX-15, to me. I will be doing a tune-up here, probably tomorrow as I'm sure every auto parts store is closed. Also want to do a clutch soon (it leaves almost completely at the top), but wanted to make sure I wouldn't have to buy yet another one if I got a new tranny. Would the clutch cause grinding when switching gears, or would that be internal? If it is an AX-15 (I need your guys' expert opinions), then I'll be servicing fluids on it at the same time and see if that fixes it. mnky, I might hit you up on that down the road. See what next paycheck looks like, and go from there. buffalo, do you have a vaccuum diagram handy? Also, would 4.10s be excessive for 31s? Buddy said he had a set of axles he'd give me with 4.10s in them, not sure if he still has them.
-
I did forget to calculate that it, so maybe my mileage is a little better than I thought. Still not good, though. I know. I wish I could afford D44s with 4.10s, but that's not possible for a while still.
-
I calculate them at 3.5 MPH over what the speedo says, which is pretty close according to the radars around here. I don't know, and don't know what to look for. :dunno:
-
Errr, fast. Usually in the 70-75 range on the way to work. 60-65 on the way home. I'm sure re-gearing would help a ton, but I can't afford new gears nor new axles at this point. I honestly can't say. When I bought it, I just replaced a few smalls (like air filter) that needed replacing, everything else seemed fine.

Hey guys, my gas mileage has been absolute $#!& as of late. Little back story: I bought the truck in about June of this year, and I was pulling a consistent high 15s to low 16s MPG. That was a combination of LOTS of city driving and medium freeway driving. As of late, I've been getting excited if I pull out 13.5 MPG(once) and usually pull about 11.5. Since purchasing it, I have put bigger tires on it (was running 28s or so, now to 31s) and will often let it idle during my lunch at work (it's cold at 5 AM!), so I'd say maybe an hour and a half of idling a week. 90% of my commute is freeway driving, and no stop and go since there are maybe 50 other cars on the road to my commute. Are the bigger tires and idling really costing me 3+ MPG? I'm hoping just doing a routine tune-up will fix things, but wondering if it's a deeper issue. On a side note, my truck does not like going into reverse. Often have to try multiple times, and slip the clutch a little to get it to pop in. Heard that's pretty normal for these. Should I plan on upgrading to the newer 5 speeds sometime in the very near future?

I think I might have to go out to this. Been meaning to take her out wheeling (never gone :wall: ), so we'll see how she's running around then.

I'm tucking 31s on stock(?) rims with room to spare.
