  1. Great picture.
  2. Celibate a life well lived! Pete, it was good fortune you got to visit.
  3. Jeep Driver, Way more things for me to worry about than Electric Car Fires. My son did 2 combat tours. The Border Patrol conducts High speed Chase's a couple of miles from my daughter's home. Stupid, agressive drivers kill thousands. Life is full of unfair things.
  4. BTW, the internal combustion engine will be around for a long time. Don't think you and I have to worry about it.
  5. I just picked up a nice 2001 Honda Accord from a neighbor. It is the newest car I own. $2500 and only 116k miles. The only electric car I have driven is the Chevy Volt. Belonged to a long time car buddy. I like the torque off the line and the quiet. Car trends are generally in California first, so would not expect to see many EV's in Alabama.
  6. Tesla get a lot of press. I see more and more of them on the Freeway. At least 4 of them in my neighborhood. Not to mention the Volts and Leafs. They are coming much faster than most of us think.
  7. Don. Still plan to put the e-codes in the 86 Comanche and a relay harness. Then try a direct comparison between the 91 with Truck-Lites and the 86 with e-codes. Just not likely this summer.
  8. Looking for a good list of parts to convert the AX-15 from internal slave to external slave on my TDI Comanche conversion. 2 wheel drive 21 spline AX-15. 1990 4.0 clutch and flywheel. All fresh and in nice shape. Any links? Thanks
  9. No. likely not for a couple of decades.
  10. Power Blaster would be better than WD-40 (I think). Thought about soaking it in diesel also (cheaper than PB) and I can burn it in the TDI Comanche after I clean the winch! Thank You for the input.
  11. Follow up report: Winch is frozen. Can not rotate the winch shaft more than a few degrees in either direction. Even put a pipe wrench on the outside of the winch drive shaft with same results. Looks like I will have to remove the spare tire winch to resolve the issue. Any suggestions?
  12. From my own personal experience making 2 round trip coast to coast to coast trips. Truck-Lites are excellent in the Comanche. Low beam cut off is sharp, lighting pattern is excellent. High beam pattern is also excellent. Lighting distance is also excellent on the wide open interstates of the west. I actually like the Truck Lites better than the factory stock European E-code halogen headlights I have on my Passat TDI. Primarily because of the finite life time of the halogen bulbs. To be fair, I run extra bright halogen lamps with a light relay kit in the Passat. These halogen bulbs are 30% brighter but only about half the life span because the filaments run hotter. Have no experience with JW Speaker headlights and their pricing "seems" higher than Truck-Lite.
  13. You will loose ground clearance Especially on a long bed Fit the 19 gallon Ford truck tank It is about 7 inches high.
  14. Dude: Here is a link to a thread about the CORSA Convention: http://corvaircenter.com/phorum/read.php?1,936922,page=1 July 23 to July 29, 2018 Neighbor is moving from San Diego to Vermont, so I purchased her 2001 Honda Accord 2 door with 115K miles on it. Very well cared for car! That is what I will be driving to Pennsylvania. Looking forward to seeing some nice old Jeeps!
  15. Car Club National Convention. Corvair Club's 48th National Convention. First new car I ever purchased was a 1969 Corvair. Had it for 16 years before I moved on.
  16. If I drive 2500 miles from San Diego, what is another 3.5 hours? Figured I could hit York first, then still get to Pittsburgh by Sunday with no real problem.
  17. I will be in Pittsburgh, PA on July 22. Maybe I can get to the Jeep show on Saturday, July 21. No Jeep with me for this trip. York is only 225 miles from Pittsburgh.
  18. My 91 Comanche has the factory BogTon/MetricTon package. The previous owner installed 2 custom leafs on each side. Net result, I have put 3260 lbs in the truck without bottoming. Other options include air bag or air shocks.
  19. My dad was a maintenance painter for half of his work life Also did furniture finishing. Lots of patience to get things correct. Always said preparation was the most important thing. I simply never had his patience. Please see my phone.m
  20. JeepDriver, Did you refinish/paint all 3 items in the above pictures? Good info on the Bulldog adhesion promoter What finish paint did you use for the plastic items? Asking because I may want to refresh the plastic in my 86 diesel Comanche.
  21. Looking to test the spare tire winch on my 86 Comanche Diesel. The owners manual says: "2. Insert the winch driver (B) in the hole (C) above the bumper, and slide the wrench handle (D) over the winch driver as shown. 3. Press the winch driver all the way inside the hole. Be sure the driver is properly engaged, then turn the handle counterclockwise to lower the spare tire to the ground." Not surprisingly, I can not find the "winch handle" in the 30+ year old truck. Can someone post a picture of it or tell me what you use to lower the spare tire winch? This seems to be a "feature" of the 1986 truck. On my 91, the same tool used to raise the jack is used to lower the spare tire winch. BTW, the truck is also missing the 86 only spare tire retaining/mounting bar. Thanks,
  22. Common sense tells me that if Mopar has discontinued the part, they have basically decided the part has no market value and has abandoned the part. As long as you don't try to represent it as a genuine Mopar part - where is the damages to Mopar. You are selling a "factory replacement" part, NOT a genuine Mopar part. Bottom line, there is no profit for Mopar in the parts it no longer supplies. So no loss to them. Only loss would come when somebody tries to sell a part and falsely claim it is a genuine Mopar part. Then they are damagine the Mopar brand name, but selling a look a like factory replacement part is just fine. Otherwise everybody selling rings, pistons, bearings fans and anything else to fit a Jeep is going to get sued. No way for anyone to prove hundreds of billion dollars in damages from selling a factory replacement part.
  23. Got the WilderNest shell on the Comanche for the first time Thursday. It has been stored on the upper pad since I got it home in September, 2016. Anita should be pleased that she no longer has to see the WilderNest when she looks out the window. Wood blocks and floor jack need to go back in their proper place today. Then the cheap Harbor Freight saw horses will need to be repaired after all that time out in the weather.
  24. I would suspect that as long as you don't try to represent your reproduction part as a true, factory OEM built part, your are doing nothing wrong. How else do we get all these "factory replacement" parts?
  25. Junkdealz, Freight is the killer on seats and large trim items. Your drivers seat bottom is torn. So both seats have to be recovered. For me, I can not see you making any money on the seats. The truck you are showing is an 86 to early 87. Not much of a market, sorry to say.
