  1. When I lived in NJ, it was same year or newer motor and/or (don't remember which) it had to puff no dirtier than the original engine did. Cool to hear they are finally doing away with that damn safety inspection. Brakes, shocks, lights, wipers, etc. Last time I failed for my SOFT TOP soft window having a crack in it. That is, after they made me put the top up one 90 plus degree day.

Well, I passed smog, even with a bad plug wire. I put a new O2 sensor in it, swapped map sensors with another Jeep, newer cap, new rotor, and what I thought were good plug wires. It was close but passed.

Oh that's right, just a maintenance required light.... Thanks

Do the Renix models do it too? I never noticed on either my 88 or 89. Thanks.

As you may or may not know, California is kind of rough to get vehicles through smog. I've had issues with techs failing me for various check engine light snafus, and just discovered a new one on my 91 MJ I'd never noticed on any Jeep before. If I pull the brake release while the key is in the "on" position, the check engine light comes on. Is this normal for a 91 MJ with a 4.0?
  6. Well, my red one was an 88, and it had the swoops. I found that one I posted, and it was labled as an 89. The 90s I found online didn't have the swoops, just the Eliminator. I thought I called the jeepsticker guy last time, but the website now has no phone number. I rarely fork over money without talking to a person on the phone first... even if nothing regarding the sale is discussed. So I'd be surprised if I didn't call before.
  7. I was planning on contacting Jeepsticker for some more reflective tailgate stickers. Dealt with him a few years ago, and was very happy with the service and the product. I'll ask about the 91-92 stickers too. I wasn't aware of the mirror image font size change. I figured the stripes changed, but that was it. Once I'm back home and unburied I'll be calling him. Funny how the first image I find that has the same stickering my 88 had is that one. See how the stickers swoop down from the word eliminator? On my 88 they then went diagonally to the mid point of the body (on the door) and then turned forward to the front wheel wells.
  8. I'm pretty sure the Eliminator pictured is a 90. I know my 88 had stripes that came down from the "Eliminator" and then went forward. Pretty sure it was the same for '89. But all of the 90's I've seen are like that one shown. I know what the 91 and 92 stripes look like, and while I'm not crazy about them, they are different than the earlier non-HO trucks had, which is why I am thinking of putting them back on. And I think they'd make my plain white truck look better. Will PM jeepdoggydog, thanks.
  9. I just got a 91 Eliminator (my third MJ) and I'm toying with the idea of having the Eliminator stickers the PO removed reproduced so I can put em back on. Can anyone with a 91 or 92 get me a few measurements? I need: - Height of "E" - Length of "Eliminator" - Height of "m" Thanks in advance.
  10. Got pics of one installed? Thanks
  11. I'm pretty sure that one belonged to a dude in New Orleans and had a 4BT in it at the time. Stock was a 230 OHC I-6 with 5.86 gears. Like 130 horse IIRC. They were dogs stock, it was all gearing.
  12. I agree- I'm very interested in how this works/turns out too.
  13. AAAAAAAARRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!! Are you taunting me specifically now?!?!?!!??!?!?!?! I want to know how you do that!!!! AND, what products/adhesives/tools you used to do that... I want to try! The sets I've tried in the past never came out anywhere near yours.
  14. LOL. Awesome! Hoping there are chicks present with said bombs. BTW, I think you are correct about the rotation thing.
  15. Jeff Foxworthy has a thing about buying a used rental car... goes something like: "Why would anyone want to buy something that has been driven by that many people? Its like going to a house of ill repute looking for a wife. If its been ridden that hard by that many people, I don't want to take it home with me" I feel the same way about plow trucks. I'd never bring a plow truck home for any use other than plowing. I'd never look at DDing a plow truck. So, while I don't feel exactly the same as TNT, I'm in his camp on this one. Not worth 8 thousand dollars. And yes, I'm saying that just because of the plow.
  16. For that end result, I'm good with time consuming. Even better that its not that hard to do. A hammer, I'm good with... torque wrench not so much. Anxiously waiting the writeup.
  17. That 3.0L CRD in the Grand Cherokee is a sweet sweet motor....
  18. Well, the AX-15 that's in my 89... I needed the shifer to put on the BA10/5 out of the 88 I swapped in. Then, I decided I could use a shaft, since the 6speed I have doesn't have a shaft, just the stub, and I wanted an XJ/MJ shifter shaft... off to the junkyard and I snagged one... by removing the 4-bolts. Then, I needed a floor pan seal, the one from the above shifter was thrashed, so back to the junkyard, again couldn't get it out, so I had to buy the whole dang thing again. Then again, I was in the boneyard monkeying around, and decided I should grab a better seal for the top of the transmission... round 4 of shifter seperation.
  19. Where are these kits? The only kits I've seen for putting a turbo on a 4 cylinder were very incomplete, basically you get the turbo itself, no tubing, no mounting, and gotta make/figure a lot of it out on your own. To me, buying a kit means it is figured out for you. If I wanted to fabricate my own setup, I wouldn't be buying a kit. 505 performance is the only "kit" I know of for either the 4 or 6 cylinder Jeep motors that is currently available. http://www.505performance.com/Our_Turbo_System.html
  20. Man, sorry to hear that. My prayers for the family too. Sounds like its right by me too. Your location shows as TN, but that article sure reads like its Riverside, CA.
  21. I've pulled like 4 shifters off the stubs in the last 2 weeks. What looks like it should just pull off, doesn't. Each time I had to put it in a vice and whack it with a hammer. How'd I get it in the vice? I removed the 4-bolts and pulled the tower off, just like Oizarod115 said. And, I'm so-cal so there should be no rust holding those things together, but there is some on each of the 4 I've pulled apart... not sure if that's why they were so hard, but its my suspicion.
  22. I don't know about the other guys, but if I had half a clue how to do what you did, I would. I don't know how to add pieces to make it seamless. I don't really know how to work a heat gun to get the stock stuff to bend without deforming. Got a thread somewhere that shows it? Looks awesome, man.
  23. On the 2wd, it looks like there is no way to get the rubber replaced on that mount. I looked at swapping the AX15 mount in, and while it would generally have been in the wrong place, the 4 bolts that hold it to the trans were of the wrong pattern, and the actual plate that bolts to the trans interfered with the transmission itself and would have required a ton of grinding to clear. I'm not sure if the 4WD and 2WD mounts are the same.
  24. I'd like 2 sets as well. Any luck scoring the crates?
