IMHO house paint does do quite well on trail rigs. though it looks like pooh. It is very think and normally dosen't scratch to bad.

dana 60's are 8 lug, there rears are full floating.

great write up, I love the do it yourself aspect. If you have any plans for a roll cage I would wait with the roll bar idea you have and just do it all custom. if you want the "burly" looks of the roll bar I say go for it... I don't know how serious of a wheeler you are building but it looks great thus far and even has good function.

I am always a big ffan of making your own, but when your newer to the life style of off road you can often be mis led in ways of doing it. I would suggest that you do a little more reasearch with the companys that you have in mind, and make your own opinion. check out the RE lifts.. I don't have experiience with RE or rusty's, i just know what I have read on this site. The people here will not stear you wrong and are, oddly enough, very helpful for an internet based club.

axel wrap is not as big of a deal as it is made out to be.. infact unless you are doing some hard rock crawling, then i don't believe it would be an issue. of course different things happen to different people. somone might totally disagree.

Ez-locker or powertrac no-slip???
wombat replied to RandysMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I wouldn't run either one... with tires like that I would just weld it all up, other wise you won't get any where... LOL just kidding, i would go with the lock-rite -
don't tell the newbies to buy rusty's... totally not worth the money, a spoa will ride easier anyway.

ac is what i would look at if equipped.

This is what a 350 looks like in a comanche.
wombat replied to possum's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I have spoken with advanced adapters and they said you had to have a 3 inch suspension lift for this swap, is this true? -
Hey I personally think there is nothing wrong with a little bit of tree bashing so long as you don't try to log the forest with your truck.
-
call me the camanche comunist... I hate the way thoughs trucks look, to me the only way comanche looks good is liftend, dented, and dirty.
-
I like the vid.... How much air did you have in your tires though.... looks like you had a hard time going.... anywhere. I haven't said anything during your build, but I have watched it. I like your truck and I plan on going the same direction when I find an MJ project again.. Good job Josh

why the H1 rims? I see alot of them on the trail now a days, especially on chevy's. I think that they look rediculous. is there a special power they have that I don't know about?

my next MJ project, this time a street truck
wombat replied to BrettM's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I believe that the color's you pick are solley up to you, but the style in wich they are layed out in is what makes or breaks the truck (i.e. 2 tone, racing stripes flames, graphics ect...) just keep in mind what you said about making it look faster then it is. The more I readthis thread the more adapt to the thought of a street rod MJ i get.... -
I reckon you fellas are right... it can't really hurt anything to try it.... Thanks for your help. I will notify when I start to actualy get time ot work on mine... Hey pete what rear axel are you running?
-
the straps were not permanent and latter replaced by a 2x6 wood fram that held it all together. I plan to use what's left of this truck for parts for a future project.
-
this was my wheeler I know she's a little rough but I had alot of good times in it.
-
pete what size tires do you run and what springs to you by to give you the same lift in the front. also with that about (i am assuming 4 to 5 inches of lift) what else is required in the means of steering arms, and trac bars... excuse me if I use the wrong terminoligy, or don't know how to spell it. but with my previous builds I did not have to deal with coils in the front (blazer had leafs also).

I can't say that I don't like rusty's, I can opnly go by others input, because I have never purchased their products, or tested them myself. with a stock 4.0 and 33in tsl's I wonder if I would have the power or weight to cause spring wrap to bad. And correct me if I am wrong but dosen't every off roader want as much flex as they can get? I don't need to go extreme and start linking everything to the moon, just curious of the cheapest and most appropriate solution. I wouldn't mind giving out the cash for some custom alcan springs if it would be that much better then doing the spring over. Has anyone here done a spring over with moderate welding a to traction bars ever got spring wrap to the point that it made them imobile? nobody likes to leave the trail early.
-
I here alot about rusty's springs fading fast and not holding up under loads. these are trucks and I prefer to carry my things out to the camping spot in the back as opposed to ON my back.

Just curious if the idea has been kicked around yet as far as location? I haven't been on the sight much latley and I might have missed it. Any thought to going to Haspin? I have only been there once and that was with our fourwheelers, but it's the only park I have been to at all. Even though it is quite a drive for me (6 hours) and I know there are some closer, they all seem to be real strict. That and I haven't really had time to go to any others since I started driving for CRST.
