How about power and throttle response? I'm assuming with the better pattern response should have shot up a bit?

Can you clearly tell they are leaking besides the obvious way of physically seeing it on the outside? I've got a feeling one or two more of mine are on the way out, as I had one replaced when I picked up it.

The worlds Fastest Comanche

Not to be Debby downer here, but with the strict limitations facing you...you aren't going to be producing near enough HP/TQ to go those speeds...not even close, especially with out F/I or nitrous. Got a link to the record holder? With the strict limitations I'm having a hard time believing the record. -
It's JEEPTOBERFEST time again...

Anything required to go offroading, even in the stock class? I would probably get laughed off with my "racing" orientated tires and being 2wd, though. But hey, I think they would appreciate a few comanches there -

All I can say is good luck...and I hope you have extremely deep pockets. It takes even more hp to get a brick going 185mph.... Good luck and keep us updated! -
Factory front grill color?
SoloCamo replied to xj_dummy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
AFAIK, from 88+ they had 8 slots. The last year for the 10 slot was 1987. My '87 had the 10, and my current '88 has the 8 slot. This type of thing is ALWAYS the case with jeep. Someone ALWAYS has something someone else says they shouldn't based on the year. I have a 1987 with a 8 slot, now I KNOW it didnt come form the factory like that. I didnt put it on there either. I have had three 88's and all had the 10 slot. I have also had three 89's and they all had 8 slots. This is in NO WAY the rule. But you can see how confusing it can be and I have only mentioned 7-8 vehicles. Let me just remind everyone for the UMTEENTH time. Our trucks are are least 17 years old. I don't know of anyone on here who bought one new. SO, other people have had there hands on them. Making changes we may not realize or would have no possible way of knowing. Not to mention Jeep is DOCUMENTED to have used what ever was avalible for parts. Ford stuff, Dodge stuff and Cheby stuff... yup, its ALL there, somewhere in the Jeep line. :D CW Well my '87, I was the second owner. The original owner was my neighbor and he took excellent care of it. All of the 88+'s of Cherokee/Comanche's I've seen have all been 8 slots. I remember reading this on a article a while back as well...doubt I'll be able to find the link though. Who knows for sure though. -
Actually it helped decrease the understeer in my application. I have a 3" lift, achieved by new MT leaf springs on the rear, TeraFlex shackles, and OME lift coils on the front. The thicker sway bar complimented the increased stability provided by the MT leafs on the back, especially when hauling loads, and the heavy shell that I carry. It's well balanced, and the handling is actually better and more consistent than pre-lift. All-in-all a very worthwhile upgrade. Would you suggest it on a stock MJ with no rear sway? (obviously none came with one)
-
How did it improve your handling? Did it create a heavy increase in understeer? Or how about an uneven feel in handling? I want to upgrade the front on my MJ, but i'm afraid that with no bar out back it's going to understeer wayyyy too much with a heavier duty bar.

I was kinda thinking the same thing...... The Thunder Dome called, they want their pace truck back Did you by chance derive that line from this thread? That thread, although caused many bannings, was definitely classic. :chillin:

or that's one heavy focus :brows: :D

Gotta wait more than 55 minutes my friend  But it's not too bad...doesn't fit the car well IMO, but that's probably because hatchs aren't my taste. Thumbs up for doing it though! :D

Exactly what I was wondering...Hell, with all the horror stories I've heard I'm afraid to go from a dig in a practically stock MJ ;) A z28 350 (Lt1 I'm assuming) stroked to 383 in that thing should run a lot faster than a 16 flat, even with the lift and 31's...Something is telling me it isn't running up to par, or he is afraid of ripping apart that D35.

Yea, I have vented windows and they leak and howl big time. I'm actually going to try and seal mine up to cut down on the wind noise. I've already used some sealant to cut down on the leaking, though.

Newest member of my vehicle roster

Man...I would kill for that setup you picked up... Perfect start for a street comanche...and a rare year as well.. How much ya want? :brows: -
Must be my style too...I can't seem to pass the magical 14mpg mark in mixed city/highway. On an all highway trip I managed an awesome 17mpg...Go 4.0L! :brows:

Exactly. People always assume that the HO is so much stronger, but in reality it only "feels" that way due to the higher RPM the power/torque is being made at. Like Pete said Gears gears gears....Renix is all low end power in stock form and if you throw in some lower gears I think it would be a blast to drive, even in stock form. 3.73's-4.10's would be perfect for an auto and 3.55's are good for a stick. 4.10's are stretching it a bit for stockers because it's going to kill your highway mileage but I'm sure it would be fast as hell from a dig...if you can manage to get traction that is. I personally feel a stock Renix would have zero problem beating a HO to 30mph and at the least hanging dead even with the HO to 60mph. Once you start getting up there in terms of MPH, the higher HP/TQ at higher RPMs show the difference between motors.

He was probably a little boozed and pissed off at the world... Sadly I see it all too often in some drivers..of course not your extent though That guy was

True enough... My family has had just about enough of me talking about the '88 and what I'm going to do with it.

 Interesting posts. Never owned a V8 in my life, but like I said in another post I learned to drive on a slightly modded 03 SRT-4. For those not in the know, it came with a Turbo 2.4L that was underrated from the factory at 215hp/250ftlbs of torque. Realistically it was around 225-230 crankhp/260ftlbs torque. Anyways, in stock form they pulled mid-high 5 second 0-60 sprints and a 1/4 mile in the high 13's...for a stock FWD car that was 20 grand it was fast. Now the modded one I drove I can safely say was a good deal faster overall. My opinion may be biased but when I ran a mid 90's Integra (was most likely an LS) with my practically stock '88 Manche from a slow roll and pulled big time on him it kind of makes me think twice before calling one fast. I'm not calling it a bad vehicle, but it just isn't something I would classify as a performance vehicle. Yea, they've got potential, but so does any vehicle with enough money thrown at it. (BTW, I'd love to have a GNX... We've got two here at a local car show that are mint...what a dream ride  )

Didn't claim they were...but they are quick for what they are...an 80's Jeep pickup truck. Integras aren't exactly Jeeps and look like they were designed as a sports car. It's quite obvious they are not :brows:
-
4, 6, 8 cyl....wouldn't matter, that Integra would smoke most of them, that's a fast little ride. My sister had one, they love to rev! An engine can rev all night and day...that doesn't mean it's going anywhere fast...and integras definitely don't fit in the fast category.

Don't want to rain on your parade man, but a prelude is far from fast  Torqueless and wrong wheel drive...yes. Fast...no. Fast nuff for me.... It'll take my MJ any day. Still the best car I've ever owned.. For example I've had it for about 8 years; the only things Ive had to replace was plugs/wires, fluids, air filter, brake pads, and tires, other then the things I wanted to change, like paint, interior, and wheels. Yelp I'm a fan of Honda... :nanner: What year prelude is it? I'd gamble that your Eliminator would give it a run for it's money in the 1/8th mile...but in the 1/4 mile I definitely see the prelude winning.

Fun Car indeed. In fact my brother's 03 SRT-4 w/ K&N typhoon CAI, MSD ignition, plugs, Yokohama Z-rated tires (can't recall model but a good deal stickier than stock), Mopar BOV conversion and a few other small goodies was the car I learned to drive on. 300hp in one must have been a blast
