  1. Sorry typing fast...the rod for the jack (and that lowers the tire down) was behind my seat. It is inserted below the bed (above the bumper) to lower the cable and the spare tire. Wayne S
  2. I think there is a rod behind the seat that feeds through the rear bumper to turn a gear/cable which lowers the spare. Wayne S
  3. Let us know how it goes, the stealership wants big bucks for the stuff Wayne S
  4. Look above the brake pedal and see if your pinching a wire...that would be my best guess. Wayne S

    Go Tigers!!

And here I was thinking it was the Auburn Tigers. The Razorbacks thumped them and I was hoping they would beat Florida...oh well, this latent Michigander still roots for the Wolverines, hates the Spartans, the Lions and has never been a fan of baseball (its fun to play and I did for a season, but boring to watch those overpriced primadonnas) Wayne S
  6. Warm welcome from Razorback Country. From what I have gleened from the very knowledgable people on here is that the lil pup is a very good (and reliable) mid-size truck. I have recently aquired mine and the three things that pop in mind is there will be rust around the fender flares.....not necessarily through the bed (the inside of mine is perfect) and it came from the Springfield MO area. Two is they used a sound deadener under the jute carpet (probably to block the heat) that is a dissimular metal that the floor which causes some cancer to develop there as well. Three, depending on the model and motor, it will get you into trouble faster than get you out...these things are quick. I can't voice any opinion on the 2.4l, but the 4.0 is a neck snapper. Wayne S
  7. WOW YOUR TALL! :D Otherwise I'm watching this thread to see how it goes...contemplating the same thing, except I already have the compressor mounted and trying to decide if I want A/C or air? Wayne S
  8. If your putting bolts in that need shearing strength, then use a grade 8, but if your needing something with holding power a 5 is a better choice because it will stretch and not break like an 8. Almost everything on an engine is a 5 (except something with thin aluminum), but everything on a good suspension is an 8 The way to tell the difference is that a 5 will have three (3) hash marks on the top and an 8 will have six (6) marks...just in case anyone wanted to know :brows: Oh and I share the desire for JC to come to my house, but the missus may object ;) Wayne S

    FNG

I guess I'm going to have to change avatars.....now that more of us are showing up :chillin: Wayne S
  10. That rod is a hydraulic switch or metering valve that controls the brakes when there is a load in the back. My advice because that thing is made of unobtainium is to route a line to bypass it and then remove it from the truck...they will never know and if they do, then you have the part already removed for possible rebuild (if it can be in fact, rebuilt) Wayne S
  11. Actually Gents...she is not unattractive! :brows: But enough about her...the real meat is that this group as a whole persuaded John Cappa, the editor of Jp Magazine, to actually respond to the rantings and arguements about that issue.......Stand up guy is a very good discription, because I don't think you would have got the same response from Hot Rod or Classic Cheby. I have looked at a few issues, yes they seem to be written around the 11th grade level, but I would rather my kids talk Jeep than dope. In this "digital age" magazines are finding it harder to sell because of sites like this, so they rely on advertising to keep them afloat. It's those advertisers that give them the tools and parts in creating the articals with hopes we buy what is being sold. We don't stop watching Two Guys in a garage or Trucks just because we can't afford the tools or parts, it makes us dream up ways to do the same thing.......cheaper :D Wayne S
  12. Dang, I wish I had got here sooner....I emailed the gent about the cd and basicly told him I was looking for something that covered all the wiring and vacuum routes and if this cd covered that stuff better than Haynes or Chiltons...he told me no so I didn't bid on it. If it does have good stuff (FSM are scarce) I'll send over a couple a bucks if you burn me a copy as well. Wayne S
  13. Let me be the first to say :needpics: Wayne S
  14. Wow, I learned something new...homebrew is something we make and drink on weekends  Wayne S
  15. Look just like the picture up top, the only black on them is brake dust and the centers are chrome with black Jeep circle. The clear coat is peeling on the outer ridges in some spots, but the "spokes" are bright and shiny. Wayne S
  16. They had four when I got there...someone picked up two. I'd like to keep one as the spare and I only found two more center caps. Alex, I'll give you first shot at them...same price I got 'em $20 each, do you want three of them? I called the semi-local Jeep yard and they have 8 or 9 (according to the gent on the phone) but they want $40 bucks a shot. Let me know what you want to do. 87manche your in second or I can run up to Branson and pick up what they have if that price is good for you. Wayne S
  17. I picked up four with center caps for $20 bucks each...If you really want them, let me know and I will go down and clean them out...I think there was 5 (or more) left. Wayne S
  18. Two would be ok except for us StreetRats...I went with 1, but I like 3 just as well Wayne S
  19. Yep, that's them with center caps...ten spokers...ok so it will fit I'll go down tomorrow and buy the other one. Not a bad price either, too bad they don't fit the big Jeep otherwise I'd buy all that the yard had so I can mount snow tires to the steelies. Wayne S
  20. under the bed, or will only the mini-spare fit in that space? I picked up some turbine wheels and found a fifth (the price is good). If it will fit under the bed, I'll go and pick it up too. Wayne S
  21. Thread jack...I'd like to have one of those locks as well Now back to your original program already in progress Wayne S
  22. I'm looking for a FSM...the Haynes really are worthless except for jack pads. I'll look again in the morning, but it looked like all the spaces were taken by other hoses and the head unit from an 89 had different colors, so it was no help either. Wayne S
  23. There is an orange vacuum hose that goes from the fresh air/re-circulate door actuator (just above the passenger's foot that routes through the front of and into the heater box). Where does it go on the heater/ac panel? I fixed the other hoses on the panel, but don't see a place where this goes. Where does the O2 timer mount? Ya know, the one that is suppose to be change when the O2 sensor is changed. The good-for-almost-nothing Haynes said that it's mounted to the right of the steering column, but I don't see any place to mount it. Does anyone have a really good wiring diagram that list all the wires (not just some like the Haynes  )...I found several where the radio (I can account for those) mounts and four or five more (some cut) under the dash around the steering column that I can't identify. I think the PO removed a few things that were in the way and just cut the plug, but I don't know for sure. Wayne S
  24. Eastwood sells a panel kit, comes with Kleco clamps and a tube of stuff...works very well. Item number 31102 http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=1668&itemType=PRODUCT Wayne S
  25. You folks rock Funny how one little question can raise such information to the top of the stew. Alex, Actually I have "flag-style" on both sides, that was the only reason I knew what type "belonged" on the truck and what it looked like. Thanks again Wayne S
