  1. not too sure.. but I think it refers to the pegouet tranny (man can I spell or what)
  2. FX I can see where you are going with that jazz.. and I thought the same.. actually it's weird that you mention that cause I picked up a new dist today.. but it's a 3 week wait for the coil.. but right now spark isn't really the problem... it's more or less finding out why my battery is taking a S*#$ on my chest.. or what the hell is robbing the juice from it..
  3. yeah weird indeed.. 1) No I haven't 2) 14v
  4. ok well some progress if you want to call it that... I can get it to start from a boost I unpluged the + cable and let it run for 30mins - 1hour and it didn't die.. I guess it musta ust been that raining day but now when I put the ammmeter in series with the + cable to the + post I don't read any current draw.. (while the truck is off) but once I get it started from a boost. and then turn it off... wait 5 mintes and then try to start it again.. the starter doesn't engauge and all the power of the truck ust goes off... even the buzz from the keys being in there.. and the bat ends up reading just 2.56v... I'm quite puzzled.. All the connections are tighter than a nun, and I'm still haveing the same problem..
  5. i have one!! :O
  6. well I have cleaned up the ends and made a secure connection... and today while it was pouring rain I needed to move the truck.. so I tried to jump it.. and it wouldn't giv'er tried for like 3 minutes with nothing turning over... Used my DMM with the truck off measured 2.56v on the bat and when I disconnected the + cable and put the meter in series on the 10A scale.. it read 5A but would drop down (ie 4.5, 4 , 3.5) could that just be the meter resistance doing that? could the truck have not started cause everything in the bloody truck got drenched? man I'm really starting to hate this truck..
  7. I wish you did too... Fudge... I'm going to make some phone calls this week to a few connections I didnt really think about. Keep your fingers crossed! I have been holding this information back for a while and now I feel I should come outta the dark about it, and the only reason I haven't doe it for myself is cause i've been strapped for cash.. but I have access to a few breaks (for sheet metal) but are kinda small I would only be able to bend up about a 4 1/2 ' long portion of the box.. but it can be done.. I've even practiced some of the bends required, and they are damn easy bends at that... like I've said I'm just held back by money. I know a 6'x10' sheet of 2024 t3 Aluminum alloy is around the $500 mark.. but I haven't been able to find a place around here that carries large enough sheets of thin steel cause that would be way cheaper. Maybe it's time that I started to look into that.. cause i know the interest is there.. but would people be willing to pay shipping from canada for something that big
  8. I don't know if you can get those kinda batteries here in canada.. anyone know?
  9. well the battery is actually brand new.. but I had to replace the old battery cause of the same problem..when i first got the battery I didn't have any problem at all... but this is the second time that this has happened to the batteries in this bastard but I do know that the battery conections are lose cause I quite frequently have to disconnect the battery to do work on the fuel tank
  10. Ok this has just started to happen reciently. I would have to get a boost from someone to start the truck.. and it would run fine, then when I turn it off and then try to start it again I'll usually start. but if I leave it over night and try to start it in the morning, it won't start and all you can hear is the clicking of the starter going.. I have no clue what's going on here.... anyone have a simliar problem before?
  11. well I fixed the problem with the turn signals.. but shaking the harness to see if something there was grounding out and there was... so I just soldered the connections and shrink wraped them.. but in regards to the radio.. yeah it is the stock radio from a 92 that I put into my 90.. it dims when I turn the dim knob, but it blinks and dims when ever the hazards are on, the brake is applied, or when I put the turn signal on.
  12. well I still haven't heard anything on this one.. and also I've discovered that the radio clock lite (stock radio) not only goes on and off with the hazards but also when ever the brakes are applied.. anyone help on this one? or had a similar problem? figured I would post in the same topic I made to make less of a topic mess! Thanks in advance guys!!
  13. well i don't think I can get a pic for at least another coupleof days my girl has my camera and she's down south right now visiting friends and family.. but I can explain it pretty good ok I'll refer to that circular gas cover as the "disc" the return line is not completely broken off but it is cracked about 3/4 of the way around the diameter of the line on the exterior part of the disc. this crack started 1/8in away and parellel to the disc.. it's still hanging there.. and sometimes fuel just pisses out and sometimes it doesn't... I guess that's when too much is sent to the rail? I'll try to get a picture for you in the next couple of days when she gets back.
  14. CW you notice in your post with the pictures the 6th picture down from the top and under where your left hand is covering, you know those two solid lines that come out if the disc for the tank and that the rubber hoses connect too.. well I managed to snap the return one off... Now how would I go about fixing that jazz?
  15. sorry I haven't been around I've been In base Borden teaching Aircraft servicing to the noobie reserves there.. so I haven't been able to get anywhere near the truck .. but I'm back in town now. and ready to get going on this one.. and I discovered another issue with this bad boy... when the hazards are on the clock on the radio goes on and off with it too :(
  16. yeah me too... I actually learned that yesterday!
  17. Nah it's not new wiring, it's the old harness I just disconnected it and re-installed it. But when you mentioned the turn signal switch.. I began to think about it. When it's set to give the left turn signal, you can hear more than one latching relay going... like it's the hazards going, nah mean?
  18. do ya think a bad bulb could do it.. cause I just grabbed any ol'e bulb I could find and slapped'er in there
  19. Well, I'm amazed at how many topics I've made in the last couple of daysand I'm sure you guys are quiet annoyed, but I have 2 days left to get this thing back on the road before I move.. so I'm going to go ahead and ask When I installed my tail light harness, and put all the bulbs back in.. everything works except my left turn signal... when I put my left turn signal on, my rear lights flash just like the hazards on both sides... and up in the front too but the bulb on the right side is flashing very dimmy like it's just getting a wee bit of juice.... most likely a short some where but I don't have time to trace it down myself.. so I've called you guys into service.. any ideas?
  20. LOLZ I plugged in the tail light harness and grounded the two leads.. and she started like a champ... wow.. I feel like an idiot.. thanks for the help bro I owe you one
  21. Ohh the tail light harness isn't even on the truck yet.... it's still in a box in the garage I was going to put that on after I found out if the tank was in right..
  22. how would I check to see if it is grounded? I'm kinda new with working on autmotive stuff.... I prefer aircraft.
  23. I know this has been beaten to death but I searched and couldn't find anything that fit the bill.. OK well lets start from the begining..... I had removed the gas tank cause I was removing the box.. at the time of removal it was working.. Now I had did what I needed to do to the box and put it back on and then today I put the gas tank on and put a little bit of gas in her (what I thought would be enough to start it up and get it to the station) now the tank was off for about a week and was stored outside unprotected, it rained a few times but I figured the plug for the pump and sending unit was resilient enough to take some rain. I had also marked the fuel lines as to which one was the supply and which one was the return.. but my means of id'ing them was removed by my lil nefew (kid will be kids) so I don't know if maybe I mixed them up or not... but one hose had a larger diameter than the other so I assumed that the larger would be for the supply. ( am I incorrect?) I know I have the plug connected right, cause that thing is idiot proof. But long story short, I turn the key, I don't hear the pump come on.. so I checked the test port on the fuel rail and nothing is there... What can I do? how would I test to see if the pump is working? thanks in advance for your help guys! Ohh and the gas gauge is acting funny too.. it goes way past full and once it hits a certain point it starts to go back.. 4.0L 1990 SWB
  24. ohh yeah it's a 4.0l 4wd 1990 renix
  25. yeah I'm just basically wondering if I should put the old pump back in (it's still in the tank and untouched along with the sending unit) the gas gauge works fine, but I want to make sure that I'm not putting a garbage pump back in this truck sat for quite sometime without being run.. the pump does provide pressure to the fuel rail but don't know if it's the right pressure, and I don't know how to check it either... I just don't want to slap this tank back on and find out I'll have problems later on down the road.. and I don't want to replace it unless I really have too
