  1. LOL that's a cessna 172 it's impossible for those to go transonic like that, the chamber of the wings is designed for subsonic flight, I think someone photoshoped that one to make it look like it's going transonic. Plus that's a formation of an Oblique Shockwave, and those only form at the mid-section of the wing and then drop back to the trailing edge. I laughed my @$$ off at that picture. Ohh yeah and I'm going to the Roll out on Sunday, so I hope to have the pictures developed but thursday at the latest. I'm soo stoked.
  2. LOL I just found this when I googled the b1-b, I figured you guys would get a kick outta it too http://img381.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 172ky9.jpg Yeah the b1-b is a damn sexy A/C I think it saw service during the gulf and I know it has an amazing payload. I believe maybe even Chuck Yeager may have flown it too.
  3. Sorry guys I updated the link to someother site that wasn't K.I.A Well I'm glad that there are other fanatics on here. I myself am a fully licensed M1 AME (Aircraft Maintenence engineer) and DirtyComanche is well on his way to becoming an Apprentice AME. Which Bomber are you talking about? I don't know much about what came out of Rockwell, but I always enjoy learning.
  4. As far as I know, DirtyComanche and myself may be the only Canadian AME's on the board here, but I have just recently aquired a set of tickets to go to the roll out of the newly built Avro Arrow Replica. This is a Canadian aircraft that was built in the 1950's which even by today's standards would still maintain air superiority. I have a love for this aircraft and would love to share it with you. I will be attending this roll out on Sunday of this week, I will be missing Thanksgiving Dinner with my family for this but that's just a small price to pay. (Ohh yeah sorry guys our Thanksgiving is this week :chillin: ) I will be sure to take many pictures and share the wealth. Also I made this thread to Talk with DirtyComanche about aircraft or anyone that has a love for these flying beauties. I'll be taking alot of pictures and will be sure to post them in time, once I get them developed. And.....let the posting begin. http://scaa.usask.ca/gallery/arrow/ if you would like to know about this Canadian Legend.
  5. Well, this is a breif question, On the data plate under the hood right by the driverside hinge. Which of the combination of letters and numbers would be the colour code, or is it not even in this location. I assumed that it would be on there as most other types of trucks have them located on the firewall, and also Identifying the colour code. As I have to paint a patch and would like it to be as nice as possible. I wish I had a camera to show you the patch itself, cause I have no dout that you would be jealous of the patch job I have done to the spot about the rear fender flare. Maybe one day I'll get a chance to show you. Thanks for your time Eugene
  6. Have you ever heard of Canadore College in North Bay? The best aviation course in canada, From Transport Canada you recieve 19 months towards your apprenticeship and you al get to work on: 2 fully operational Bell 206's 1 Hewis 500 1 Robinson R22 2 Beech Sundowners (that have the Spars cuts) 1 Cessna Cardinal 1 150 1 172 1 Piper Apache 1 A-star Have these turbine engines in the hanger also: JB-111 2x P&W PT6 engines and there are many more also. This is where I went to school to become an AME and now I'm 2 Hangers the runway at Voyauger Airways. Maybe we should create another thread to continue this.
  7. Ohh hey not too bad, what's in their fleet? m1? m2? are you apprenticing?
  8. I sure am bro, I live In North Bay Ontario. good to see another canadian here.
  9. Also maybe, I dout that this would be the problem but maybe the valve timing is incorrect, possibly recieve the incorrect rods? or lubes on the cam are very worn. Worn rings would cause the smoke to come out your exhaust not your headers, maybe you have hotspots on your piston heads that cause pre-ignition, but you would have heard that by now.
  10. Yes Air would come out of the spark plug hole on the exhaust stroke, cause there is no plug to stop it from comming, on the exhaust stroke is when your exhaust valve which in most cases is your biggest valve will open to let the already spent fuel out of the cylinder . On a Otto cycle engine such as the one in your jeep, it has 4 strokes. 1) Intake 2) Compression 3) ignition 4) exhaust It sounds like you caught the #1 on the exhaust. I would take dirty comanches advice. I'm not too sure about Automotive engines, but On piston powered Aircraft there is a marking on the flywheel, that is splined to the crankshaft and a marking on the Crankcase itself, indicating TDC. Possibly there is such a marking on the jeep but yet again I don't service automotive engines. Automotive engines in comparison to Aircraft piston powered engines are much more complicated. A small example would be In a Automobile the engines are liquid cooled, aircraft are AIR cooled, by use of baffles and RAM air.
  11. Ohh this is not a picture of my truck. it is a picture that I found here on the forum. But the owner had this write up about it "Very simple design, made of 3 mm stainless steel plates and tig welded. I just adjusted the tank sending unit and made a new gasket around the fuelpump, otherwise it works good." http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=169 If you would like to see the thread itself.
  12. That would look better. sorry I'm not very good with forums.
  13. Hi, I'm new here and a new owner of a very rusty 1990 Comanche, it is very difficult for me to crawl under my truck as I have some knee problems and I would like to remove the bed from my truck as I can gain better access to the frame rails in the rear. Would some be so kind as to post a few pictures as to where these 8 bolts are located, and other locations of interest (ie: Parking brake cable mounting points on the bed, even a good suggestion as to how to suport both the gas tank and the cables during removal would help as well) as it would save me time trying to crawl around underneath. Or even a very Detailed description as to where they are located. I under stand that this is a rather idiotic request but mobility is a factor for me and the less time I spend on my knees in pain the better. Me and My knees thank you in advance for your kindness. Eugene P.S it is a short box if that helps also. I know that 4 of the bolts are located in the green areas and that the gas tank and the parking brake wire-bracket are mounted in relativley the same location as depicted. could some one take this picture and circle the remaining 4 bolts please. thank you
