  1. Anyone have a PDF of the factory S/M for a 91? Need to find out about the code 27 "Fuel injector control circuit" that I have on the MJ.
  2. Thanks, must have been tired, thought it was it's own post
  3. Need to get the old 2wd rear DS cut down to fit the t-case. It's the one with the rubber damper ring built into the one end. Question is can it be cut down for 4wd use??
  4. I am getting a engine code 27: Fuel injector control circuit. Any ideal what I need to check??
  5. This 4.0 has around 200,000 I think. So maybe I should bump it up also.
  6. NAPA silver--- well now they call them NAPA NASCAR filters  I also just found out that I dumped the wrong oil in it, 5w-30 and not 10w-30
  7. That will work :D
  8. What did the 4BT come out of?? Want more info, need more info :D
  9. Looks like what I had except for a short bed and RED. Have him open up the back corners of the cab and POR-15 them NOW. When mine started to show the first sign it only took 18 months eat the whole thing out  If I would have POR-15 it at the first sign I could have saved it.
  10. That is the side it came from.
  11. No did not pull the fuse, did not even know it had a fuse to pull ;) but who needs a security system on a MJ :D
  12. Compression test was done with engine warm and just to check the general health of the engine as it was time to close shop and I did not want to do much else on it. And no I did not put oil into the cylinders, just wanted a quick check till the weekend. The compression is not a big thing but if I am going to have to do anything to it might as well pull it out and do it right. No use to patch a tired engine. It could be a lifter, it was around #3 and #4 and sounded about mid engine on the right side. It's also getting oil to the top when I looked in the fill hole but sure could be a lot better. I had a 3.0 in a Carvan that could not hold oil and the lifters had to pump up each time you started it. as the oil pump started to go it took longer for the lifters to pump up  It was not as loud but it was a v-6 and not a L-6. Which side is the lifters on the 4.0?
  13. So if I just direct wire it it will be OK? Not like a MJ needs a delay :D
  14. If I unplug the delay and take a jumper from the tan/black wire to which ever wire in the plug that is hot when you pull the switch on ( looked at so many color wires today I do not recall what color it was now) everything works as it should.
  15. It's from dead center, but it stops prior to getting close enough to find it :headpop: And yes its about the time it takes for a lifter to pressure up. After start up it's runs good, no smoke and good power. I want to check the oil pressure this weekend to see if the oil pump is week as I do not trust the dash light ;)
  16. Got the Factory Schematic and it's the delay module. Looking like I may have a grounding problem and the module is acting as the ground now:nuts: Looks like I may have to pull the dash if I can not locate to problem soon
  17. Did not check that, but the XJ did not have it and our ZJ that has it has a switch that you can turn the delay on and off. The plug has 2 black ground wires, the brown / black wire going to dimmer switch, a pink/red wire, and 2 other wires that I do not rember the color. If it's the delay then is there a jumper that plugs into it?
  18. Well started the 4.0 up to night and for the first 60 sec heard a rod then it went away and could not get it to do it again. Heard it the first time we started the engine but it was only for the first 30-60 sec. and went away and did not do it again till tonight. Quick check of the compression found the following: 1=80# 2=110# 3=105# 4=110# 5=100# 6=80# Also the new plugs that we put in were white  I have not been around the Jeep 4.0 till this one, do they have this problem till the oil pressure is up to speed? Going to check the oil presssure this weekend and see what it's running at, but looking like I may be doing some engine work
  19. I found it and yes it has a relay in the system. It's a large silver box under the dash between the collum and fuse box. The MJ did not have it and the dash / harness we got for it did not have it. Was looking at the XJ tonight and followed the wire from the dimer switch to the relay. pulled the relay and found the plug in the MJ and pluged it in and all works well now :D One more thing down now
  20. Anyone have a factory chassis schematic of a 91+ that will show the head lights? The only one I can find only shows the parking lights and everything but the head lights.
  21. Where is the relay located for the lights? I do not see anything listed in the top cover of the Power Distribution Center. The other location for relays I found is is under the dash and that box has 3 relays. a red one pluged into a red socket, a black one that is pluged into a tan socket and a small black on that is pluged into a yellow socket. Think I can rule out the smart switch as I do not see and fuction on the head lights but to push the rod down to the dimmer switch. When I tested the plug at the dimmer switch was with it unpluged from the switch and I get the same problem. It has to be in the ground / relay / or switch " but that would be my last choice".
  22. I looked at Grayhound a couple weeks ago about shipping, but I thought it was from station to station. How did it get to your door, did the bus stop by and drop it off :D or do they have a someone from the bus line drive it to your door? Charles
