  2. Not much of a update but scored a tool box of craigslist. Big enough to hold spare axle shafts!
  3. OK, have a few problems and I think they are related but not sure how. First off, my reverse lights and climate control panel back lights sometimes work and sometimes not... The reverse lights will come on if i Jiggle/turn back and forth the dimmer/ headlight switch. However the climate control back lights will just work on a random limb every once in a while. Also the dimming switch doesn't dim. It has a short or something I think. Turn it back and forth and it is on or of and flickers. Any Ideas? I have a 1988 mj 4.0 4x4
  4. Well, be aware that alot of the replacements have a longer "tang" on the bottom of them and don't seat fully. Good time to index your dizzy also. The 10th write-up in my link. Cruiser, sorry for my ignorance, what does indexing the dizzy do? Also what do you mean longer "tang"?
  5. Ah ok. That makes since. I don't have cruise control.
  6. We'll the dizzy is leaking oil where it goes Into the block so I was just going to replace the whole thing
  7. Ok so I think Ill just do a really nice set of wires. Maybe 9mm? And just go with a Oe replacement for the coil and distributor. What about spark plugs? And I need some suggestions on brand for the coil and distributor.
  8. Shouldn't be a connection?
  9. well It misses when Its cold and first start it up. Ignition is basically the only thing I haven't replaced yet. as far as upgrades to the engine, I have done the 703 injector swap and paces setter header. Along with 2 3/4 exhaust, High flow cat and magnaflow muffler. And if you want to call a snorkle a cold air intake that too...
  10. Just looking to put the best of the best on my mj.SO what would you recommend just OE replacement?
  11.   That looks sick! Where do you plan on putting your gauges?
  12. went out yesterday to get the seats but my buddy forgot that the mr2 is on a trailer, so we are going to have to come back with reams and pull it off to get the seats out. Hopefully in a week or two.
  13. So i want to replace my coil, distributor, plugs and wires. I want to get the best I can get. I have a 1988 renix 4.0 jeep comanche. What are some performance upgrade coils and distributors I can get? Does MSD make anything for the renix years?
  14. Mine had the same problem and my speedo cable was broke where it meets in to the transfer case under the protective sheathing. Was very easy to fix and a new cable cost around $30.00
  15. Thanks for all the input. I'm going to get some measurements soon but I think they will work great them. Also sorry for not being more clear on the car it is a 1991 Toyota mr2. Here is a picture if one.
  16. If you wanted to go beefier you could do one of them many one ton steering kits that are available. I myself have the serious off road under the knuckle kit an love it. Here is a comparison shot of old stock set up vs new one ton set up.
  17. I currently have grey vinyl bucket seats in my 1988 mj. They are starting to rip and they have a "lean" to them. I'm not 100 percent sure but I don't think that they came in it stock. I think that the PO put them in. I say this because on the center console I have has the cut out for a ebrake lever, However my ebrake is on the floor. Anyway, I have been looking at a good replacement for seats that isn't going to run me a arm and a leg. I would like a seat that has more "bucket" to them and are cloth and in decent shape. I tend to find myself sliding around on my seats while I'm wheeling. It just so happens my buddy has a 1991 Mr2 that he is scraping. I started looking at the seats and they look like a great replacement to my stock ones. They look to have a close foot print of the stock seats. They are black cloth and more of a racing style. They definitely look like they hold you in the seat better. Not only that but I will be able to keep the functionality of my stock style seats because they flip forward for access in the rear cab of the truck. I asked my buddy about them and he said I could have them for free if I wanted. I'm just wanting to know what yall think about this swap and if anyone just so happened to have already done it. I am aware that I will most likely adapt the seats to the OEM sliders that I have. Here is a picture of the seats I found on google.
  18. Congrats! Is that the mj that you bought my old driveshaft for?
  19. I have the same on my mj I believe. Selling them with tires in a month or two.
  20. But I don't understand why is acts the way it does hot vs cold? If anything it would make more sense if it was acting the way it does with the situations reversed?
  21. Also If Anybody would like to support my small business please like the page on Facebook and share it will your Facebook friends. Its the only source of advertising I have right now until I get a web site up and going. This is the page: https://www.facebook.com/VanceWoodworking
  22. Thanks for the kind words! As for my degree I will graduate in may with a bachelors. But My degree is focuses in small circuity mainly. I could do many different things but I would like to do instrumentation at the nuclear plant in my home town. Thats where the big bucks are..
  23. Also check the amperage the starter draws when cranking. As starter motors age, the internal resistance can build up, resulting in slow cranking because the battery can't produce enough power. Somewhere in my tool box, from decades ago, I have a little tester that you just hold against the wire from the battery to the starter and it reads the draw by induction. I don't think you have told us yet if the cranking speed is slower when hot. I have not been able to test anything yet. I have been to busy with work and not had a second hand to help me test. However I was able to get some videos to better explain what it is doing. This video is after It has been sitting over night And this is after it has been running around town and it is at operating temps.
