  1. That would totally be worth the trip to Atlanta; drop a radiator in and drive it home.
  2. No worries, I actually just came back from a week long trip to North Carolina for car shenanigans on the Tail of the Dragon. Coincidentally, I was also in the town they filmed Deliverance in. I also love Carlin, as if that wasn't obvious. I've been meaning to get "All My Stuff" and then tack on "It's Bad For Ya" for ages now.
  3. That is an oddly tempting buy, despite it being so far away from me. I wonder what kind of condition it's in though, and why it's sagging to the right?
  4. Hello fellow Jeep lovers. It's been a while since I've been here (almost two years), not that I was all that active to begin with. In that time though, I've managed to acquire jobs that actually allow me to spend money, including a new full time job I was just accepted for. That means I'll be able to afford a winter beater, aka the Comanche I've always wanted. I think I have a rough idea of what I might be looking for in one, so here's the list: Year: 87-92 Chassis: Short Bed Engine: 2.5L or 4.0. We have a 94 ZJ with the bulletproof 4.0 that is probably the only thing that hasn't broken on the thing, so I trust them. I'm also used to owning four cylinder engines, so they're familiar to me as well. I'm open to either one. Hell, I'd even go for the rare 2.1L diesel. Transmission: Manual. I've driven stick almost exclusively since I started driving, and I'd prever to keep it that way. Drivetrain: This is where I'm somewhat conflicted. I live in Crystal Lake, IL; we get snow around here six months out of there year here, so I know how valuable four wheel drive is. I've also read many accounts of how reliable the two wheel drive version of the Comanche is even in winter, even without the rare factory LSD. I'm not opposed to working on my own vehicle by any means, so swapping in a different differential or changing to four wheel drive at some point in the future is not a problem. I would appreciate some advice on this choice from you knowledgeable folks. Interior: Bucket seats, although I've seen others swap in buckets from other vehicles, so I'd love to know how easy that is to do. Condition: As stock as possible. Not looking for anything with a lift kit or large tires. I plan on choosing my own options down the road when I'm more knowledgeable on aftermarket parts for Jeeps I think that about covers it. If I've forgotten any key options, please let me know. Any other advice, besides the stuff I read in the "What every Comanche Owner Should Know" thread would be appreciated. I'm looking forward to finally getting a Jeep of my own, and learning more about these awesome vehicles. - Stephen
  5. If I remember correctly, someone on here mentioned a while back that that Comanche is owned by the guy who owns that dealership. He's actually not interested in selling it, but figures if someone is crazy enough to pay him for it, he might sell it.
  6. Oh my god... Anyone want to lend me $2200? I think I'm in love.
  7. This sounds to me like the fuel line is clogged with sediment. If you run out of gas, and then try to restart that vehicle, you start picking up all of the crap that is at the bottom of the fuel tank. This sediment can get into your fuel line and clog it up, not allowing fuel to flow. This is why you shouldn't try to restart a vehicle that has no gas, but you guys obviously know that. As for fixing this problem, replacing the fuel line and filter is what's required I believe, but I've never had to deal with that problem, as I don't run my car out of gas. Hopefully this solves the problem.
  8. :clapping:  Definitely worthy of Comanche of the Month. Congrats!
  9. Good Lord, all of that action happening such a short distance away! At least you managed to get a donor, even if you did have to go 15 rounds with Ali for it. Let me know if you want another body to help with some stuff; I'd be glad to help out/learn.
  10. That's a damn shame on both counts. Our last dog was a blue tick coon hound we had for eight years before we found out she had an inoperable tumor, and had to be put down. Hope everything works out on both fronts.
  11. Maybe so, but six cylinders, five speed, bucket seats? I'd give it a little love for the right price.

  13. Er... make that southeast.
  14. *Quick shout out to btm24 for the welcome* Hello, ComancheClub! My name is Stephen, and I like Jeeps, especially Comanches. When I was a little kid, I saw them and for some reason took a liking to them. Now god knows how many years later, my much more informed self has decided joining a forum for them would be a good idea for when I inevitably purchase one in the future. I'm 22 years old and live in Illinois (about an hour east of automan2164). I'm currently a driver for a graphic arts company, and while I enjoy the work, there isn't always work to be had, meaning cash isn't always handy. This is what currently prevents me from owning a Comanche of my own at the moment. My Jeep experience is limited to a friend who absolutely loves his 01 GC, and a stint of driving a family owned 94 GC from November '08 to May '09. That single winter alone was enough to convince me to buy a Jeep someday. However, my beginnings are with Japanese cars, specifically Acura Integra's. I've been around once since I was six, and in May '09, I purchased one as my first car. I've been in love with the car since the day I bought it, something I'm sure all of you can understand. It's been my baby and my project, and I hope my future Comanche can be the same too, as well as a daily driver during the winter. My car knowledge is around average, but I learn more everyday, and I love learning new things about my favorite vehicles. Give me enough time, and I'll probably be spouting Jeep chassis and engine code names as easily as I do Integras. I'm also on a car forum for them as well, so I have a lot of forum experience at least. Well, that should about cover it. I look forward to learning more about one of my favorite Jeeps; and the people who drive them!
