  1. Yeah thats what i figured too. Just havent gotten around to seriously lookin at it to come up with a good rig job lol
  2. No, you can set it up to where that rod stays all the way pushed back. Meaning it is pushed towards the steering wheel. If ya find a way to do it let me know so i can do the same. I was thinking maybe using a hose clamp but havent tried anything yet
  3. That cable is supose to go to an automatic shifter. Sinse you don't have an automatic, that means you need to either get a column for a manual or rig up that rod so it doesnt move. You have the exact same thing i am dealing with.
  4. IS there a little lever behind the ignition?
  5. If I remember correctly, the lever hooks directly to the ignition mechanism and not to a rod on the opposite side of the column. he didnt specify if he has a lever behind the key. if not, then that column came from an automatic. I would guess that there is no lever otherwise he would have mentioned it. I could be wrong though.
  6. That pushrod is supose to have a cable on it that runs to the automatic shifter. I have to do the same thing with mine but in my case, the PO put in a steering column from an automatic but its a 5 speed therefore even if I had the cable I got nothing to hook it to to release the ignition.
  7. Sin City here!
  8. Yeah, thats how I found out about it when I had to get a CPS. They said they needed to know which package I had so I had to have a dealership run the VIN to find out. but even they couldnt tell me the difference or what exactly it was. Thats the first I ever heard of it.
  9. Just curious if anybody knows what the high and low altitude packages are exactly and what the difference is between them. Never heard of it until now and even the ppl at the jeep dealership had no clue
  10. The stat is new. heat output is consistent, fluid is full and all hoses are hot. Everything seems to be normal
  11. replaced the stat a couple mos ago with the standard replacement. forgot to mention that in the op
  12. The gauge climbs to the top of the blue mark then drops to the middle and repeats the cycle. Wondering what is the normal temp it should be running at?? I doubt its running that cold....Any theories??? The gauge is fine and the Temp sensor on the head is brand new.
  13. I already know all that info from the VIN, the trans was a typo on my part
  14. 1986, 2.5L, 2WD, AX-15 5 spd, AMC-20 4:10, metric ton,250,000 miles full guage cluster minus tach, bucket seats. From the looks of it and as far as I can tell its all original. I've read alot about the different packages they offered but have yet to find one with the same setup. My question.....Is it a rare setup also is it a good or bad one?? Let me know your thoughts
  15. I changed mine over too. was easy. found a pair at a yard for $5 each. took about 15 mins or so to install. now I got ugly holes in the doors. can't wait til body time
  16. I got a LWB, if your still in need email me at harley79@live.com and I will take any pics ya need tomorrow when its light out and send em directly to ya.
  17. I don't drink and there is no such thing as "chill" here in Las Vegas! LOL I agree though, having a pissing contest online is pointless but I just have a problem when somebody feels the need to make negative comments on something that should otherwise be positive.
  18. First off, If you had a sense of humor you wouldn't have taken my post about no responses so seriously. Nobody else seemed to be bothered by it. and second, if everybody did their own searching and didn't ask questions WTF would be the point of this site??? you only piped up in this thread for no other reason but to try and prove someone wrong and to b*@$£ about people asking to many questions and from what I've read so far you make a habit of doing that. Keep it to yourself cause nothing you have said had anything to do with this thread.
  19. Well Eagle, Seeing as how your the only one who seems to have a problem with answering questions maybe ya should just ignore peoples posts and move on rather than throw your two cents worth in! I noticed in a post that you wouldn't accept the fact that a guy did something that you didn't believe would work. well it seemed it DID work for him but rather than give him credit and be happy that he got the results he wanted you continued to shoot him down! That is pretty messed up. This is a FORUM! Its about asking questions and everybody helping each other out. Sure there will be repeated questions but that's just part of the territory. I'm sure I speak for a lot of guys on here when I say most of us either work, go to school, have family's etc... and do not have time to sit and scroll through post after post that go back months, if not years trying to find the answers we're looking for and sometimes its easier to just ask. To everybody else, THANK YOU for the positive feedback you give on these posts. Even if it doesn't directly help with the current topic, the effort for trying is appreciated! (Regardless of how often things are repeated!)
  20. Yeah I read a while back that the non-idiot light, tachless cluster is rare. Anybody wanna buy it?? LOL I'm aware of the speedo cable thing and having two types of connections but that has nothing to do with the original question.... Still looking for responses to the tach issue. Can it be adjusted and if so, how? Whats the exact mod to make it work right?
  21. nothing wrong with it just want a tach
  22. Really??? 15 people have read this so far and not one of ya has any answers??? I find that hard to believe!
  23. I'm swapping gauges in a 2.5. I do NOT have the idiot light option so I know I don't have to change the sensors My question is.... I can only seem to find gauges out of 6cyl. Is there anything I need to change to make em work right or will it just be "plug and play"?? I have heard of tachs not working right when taking a cluster from a 6 and installing it into a 4 setup so I'm wondering what problems I might have and what the fix is.
  24. seems mine has the same problem. guess I know what ill be doin tomorrow!
  25. Where did ya get the new housing from? I got the same problem, replaced the thermostat and could get the housing to seal completely to save my life!!! its not a bad leak just trickles when it gets hot. Also, I have a 2.5 and somewhere in my garage I have a housing for an I6, was wondering if they are the same??? if not I won't bother trying to find it.
