  1. Problem solved :D I changed the harmonic balancer and front seal today and there is no more noise. Couple things I'd like to point out. To get the old balancer off you will need a puller. I borrowed a friends but saw one at Autozone for $17.00. To get the front seal back in correctly without bending it to pieces,(don't ask how I know) you will need a large washer. Use the bolt that goes thru the middle of the balancer and use the washer that has a larger diameter than the seal to walk it back in without causing problems. To walk the balancer back on to the crank you will need a longer bolt than the one that is already there. I went to Lowe's and the size I bought was 1/2-20 2" Grade 5. I didn't measure the length of the original bolt that holds the balancer on but it's probably 1 1/2". Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. Also the head is either 19 mm or 3/4". After I'd spent 4 hours today messing around and running around and buying a new seal, larger washer, and longer bolt it took me exactly 8 minutes to put it all back together. Figure if you have the correct tools, puller, larger diameter washer, and longer bolt ready to go you can basically get ths job done in less than 1/2 hour. Once again thanks for everybody's help on this one

  3. Oh good news, this one's Made In Canada. :D
  4. I answerd my own question by actually looking at the balancer. I has a notch on the back so it looks like I can't really mess up the position. How bout does anything go on this seal?
  5. All right guys. I got the harmonic balancer in from Taz today (thanks again B) Mine was replaced when I first bought the truck but I never did it myself. Is it a pretty staight foward replacement or is there any special tools/tips I should know before pulling mine off and replacing it. Here's what I think but someone please chime in if I'm missing something. 1)Loosen belt, pull off the old balancer. 2)Loosen and remove the bolt holding the balancer on. 3)Remove balancer and old front seal. Clean area well. 4)Re-install new balancer and seal and button everything back up. It seems like a pretty staightfoward job but is there a certain position the balancer should go back on and do I need to put anything on that front seal?

  7. Do you have a certain distance you need to set this record MPH in?
  8. Um...... Pete I think you're missing a turn signal there.
  9. That's awesome
  10. Taz can you put that in the DIY section?
  11. And WTH are we supposed to do while you're working on this  :rotfl2:
  12. Didn't he want to put your new gears in?
  13. Don't give them $600. It's too much.
  14. You think maybe you just need an alignment?

  17. I personally bought mine from NAPA a year back. Retail price was $57 I got it for $40. I wouldn't recomend it to you only because I've had an incredibel amount of problems with NAPA's parts recently and even tho my TPS seems to be working fine I'm waiting for the day it goes poof.
  18. BLHTAZ has one for sale in the classifieds. You can try your local parts store but my personal experience is to avoid anything ,especially electrical that says MADE IN CHINA. I've seen em anywhere from $40-$100+.
  19. And here is a real good way to fix this. Anybody have MO's 3" rear springs? And if you do can you please measure to see what number you come up with?
  20. Guys, I didn't mean to start a fight here but isn't it completely possible that this ONE set of springs is somewhat deffective causing the 1" differnce.
  21. Anyway, it looks good. So is your front higher or lower than the rear now with the shackles? I can't tell that well from the pics.
  22. I also want to add for anyone reading this in the future to go and buy the negative battery cable that bolts to the engine AND has the second wire running to the fender to add an additional ground. This little wire fixed a lot of driveability problems my Comanche had. One of these days I'll get around to snapping a pic.
  23. IAC is on the left. The TPS is the sensor on the right.
  24. TB, yes throttle body. TPS is the sensor that sits right next to the IAC. (Throttle Position Sensor) There is a TB Cleaner that is safe to use with vehicles equiped with an O2 sensor. I understand you didn't disconnect anything else but follow every vaccum line in the area and make sure they are connected to something. I've hit the vac line on the intake manifold by mistake a couple times, disconnecting it and getting a high idle from it. Lastly is is possible that you cleaned up the plate in the TB but gummed up everything under it with crap dripping and you could have plugged up the IAC hole or fried the TPS. Wait for someone else's opinion because I'm not an expert by any means but after checking the vac lines again I'd take the TB off comepletely, clean it really well, checking where the IAC goes and then put everything back together. Remember you have to adjust the TPS with either a scanner or a multimeter. If you run a search on this forum there's a couple places the directions are described or somebody might be able to link it for you. I'll see if I can get you a picture of the TPS.
  25. Good luck Rob and let us know
