    Coming up for air

Knock it off Eagle!! I just got back after 18 years and am gonna your help putting whatever I pick up back together. You ain't going anywhere!!
  5. So after a good 12 or so hours of looking around I figured $3500 isn't a bad price if it's not too bad. Next step, get there this week and check it out in person. I'm excited!
  6. Ok, 16 hours later I think I figured out how to do this. Here's the deal. If I remember correctly and nothing has changed much, i believe there's a couple people on this forum that know a little bit about MJ's. I need help picking one out, as I find them closer to me, if anyone would be kind enough to help. Most of you are better than me at looking at the attached pictures of the truck for sale, reading the description written by the current owner, and forming an opinion on if it's even worth it for me to go look at it to begin with. I need all your professional opinions because frankly, I got old and forgot everything I learned here 20 years ago, Good or bad. Honest no matter what. I suppose the next thing someone would ask me would be, what am I looking for? Not picky but, a 1990 and up, 4.0, 4x4, auto, long/short bed would be awesome. I'll look at whatever though. Price or budget, I suppose would be the next question. To which I'd reply, "Listen kid, I bought my last one for $500, advertised as being in "great" condition, back in 2004 I think. Fell in love with the PITA at first site, so paid in cold hard cash, a decent amount at the time, and drove it halfway home as it started to catch on fire but, was mostly contained as I pulled in back home. (long story). Spent 10 grand on it as a couple years went by, and never even considered it really road worthy. At the time it was a fun hobby to come home to after work and take apart and put back together again. Over, and over, and over, and you get the picture. I wasn't ever a mechanic and never became one but, was fortunate enough to learn so much from everyone here at time and just enjoy it for what it was. I've been looking here and there and honestly am truly amazed at what people are selling them for now. Obviously a fully built out/ or back to original stock condition, in great working order is worth every penny being asked my the owner in question. I think I've seen beautiful rigs anywhere from 10k-20k depending on each situation. Completly understandable. What I find interesting though is the price people are asking for on truck in anything less than "awesome" condition. Let's take the link I'll post below after I finish this. Read the whole description and check out the pictures. Both are decently done. Now, 20 years ago, I remember I would have paid maybe $1000-$1500 for this one advertised. It's not in horrible condition. He's asking $3500. I have to hit myself in the head and remind myself 20 years have passed but, can any of you tell me after looking at the ad that this specific truck is worth $3500? I'm not saying it's not. I'm seriously asking if that's really what it's worth now, taking into account the things that will need to be done first , before it even gets on the road. Lemme know your thoughts please. Thanks in advance! https://www.facebook.com/share/1BhVbYKg8D/?mibextid=wwXIfr
  7. WAHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! My man!!!!! Gimme some love sugga! Pete, Drinks are on me all around tonight and i'll chip in for the new fridge. Now let's find me an MJ!!!! "It's not a truck. It's an adventure!"
  8. Nah Pete-Oh. Let's start fresh. Snuck around campus and found out about Horn. Cried for a god bit honestly. May the Gods of Olympus Rest My Friend's Soul. Let's take a minute now to all bow our heads, pour half a beer out, and then continue the party like he would have wanted us to. "Ladies and Germs, To Hornbrod! That man was not only a legend, HE WAS THE MAN!!! Now let's get down to the nitty. First, I saw his daughter had the BEast and was thinking of selling it. Who here bought it? Second, I've completely forgotten everything I learned from everyone, and unfortunately misplaced my MJ,about 18 years ago, and can't seem to find it. I have the keys, just lost the actual truck somehwhere. WHich brings me to ..... THIRD! Let's start looking for another disaster (Jeep Comanche 1988-1992, 4.0, 4x4, automatic, Long/short bed) for me, hopefully one that doesn't catch on fire more than once. Anybody hear of anything around HArrisburg, PA, LET A BROTHER KNOW!!! so I can put some kinda pic in the place you put your pic thing. Sorry, Pete, still haven't learned anything about these computer things but, I'm trying again. Fourth, To everyone here, I'm Autistic, mentally challenged, ask a lot of questions, suffer from no filter, and have diarrhea of the mouth. If any of that bothers you now, or in the future, please accept my apologies up front, and try and skip over any thing I might post. Fifth, Did we move the beer fridge Pete? I've got this unbelievable, cotton mouth thing going on like if, I've been hanging out with Snoop Dogg for the last 10 years. WAHOOOOO WAHOOOO...... Where the heck is that sumaofbit? He's not dead too is he????
  9. I know, I know, it's been 18 years. Well except that one night I had too many Miller Lite's.. But. Come on man, don't be mad at me Pete. Please!! Where is everybody?? I've been knockin on the back door for weeks now and no one would let me in, so I had to change my name and sneak in here with a new account and identity. Pete, if you got old and forgot about me , my old screen name was completely different back then. It was under "Chicofuentes0224". White, 88, auto, longbed that kept catching on fire? Knew nothing about anything mechanical? Wouldn't shut up and kept going back and forth with Wahoo about stuff that had nothing to do with Comanches? Kept stealing the beer in the fridge? Is any of this coming back to you bro? Am I even in the correct place? Spot where bunch o people seem to like Jeep Comanches for some reason? What year is this anyway? Am I dead? Is this what heaven looks like? So many questions.... Pete?!?!?!
  10. No Comanche though Now it's a Commander I even found my old account. Thanks Pete!
  11. How long does it take until it gets easier?
  12. I love that thing! I got it for my kids last year.

    A Sad day.

Hey, let us know what kind of mileage you get once the engine has been broken in.

    Tiger Woods

Wow Jeff  Yor're almost as upset about Tiger as I was when Jose Canseco and Vanilla Ice raced us on Flagler Ave in Miami back in 87 and our Toyota Corolla got beaten by their Porsche and Mustang 5.0. :wall: :rotfl2:
  15. That's wierd, I punched it into my GPS and nothing comes up for Dunmore, PA. I keep getting either Scranton with a differnt area code or Dickson City, PA 18512. Is it close to either of these? It's telling me I'm 131 miles from 18512.
  16. driggity, that's exactly the post I was lokking for  yes,yes,yes.... I'm extremely sorry for not getting back on sooner. I actually check back every couple weeks just to see how things are, just never have any silly stories or positive info to contribute. Plus for a while it seemed like everyone was at each other's throats with the "he said she said crap" and it was getting annoying. Seems to have calmed down a bit though. I finally got the axle stub put back together last October and after staring at the Comanche for 15 months I'm gonna work on putting her back on the road. Problem is I let the inspection and registration run out, all the fluids need rechanged, tires have flat spots from sitting too long, battery is unchargeable, and worst of all.... THE DANG REARVIEW MIRROR SOMEHOW JUST FELL OFF!!!!!!!! :rotfl2: Seriously though, besides the alien abduction, communistic threat I've been fighting off, and my schedule at work it's been tuff to keep up with you guys and the truck. Glad I'm back though, I missed you guys  HEY YOU KID. GET OFF MY COUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2: P.S. Wahoo, sorry I forgot :fool: Tag you're it.
  17. What's up buddy
  18. Kid, you wanna come down to Harrisburg and inspect my truck? edit: Nevermind I forgot we need the emmisions machine.
  19. Hey Don, Can you remind me again what battery I should throw in the truck again. I've been looking for the post we had from more than a year ago but can't seem to find it. Thanks, Chico
  20. Mine's a Renix. Had the same problem since I bought it. Changed every sensor there was. No change. One day cleaned up the ground at the block and firewall. Added a ground from the negative terminal on the battery to the inner fender. Truck starts faster than both my rice burners now. Well, at least it did the last time I started it in November of 2008. Battery is now completely dead. If I let it charge for a couple hours it starts right up again with no hesitation. That's with an old starter, dead battery and year old gas in the tank. Not sure if this would help since it's an HO but you could try.
  21. Did you test the CPS to check it wasn't faulty? I remember Wildman posting up to look at "lungd something" to find the test to check it. Not sure if that's correct. You're gonna have to run a search to find it. Just an idea.
  22. He's trading in a TJ.
  23. Please Don. Tell us how you really feel :rotfl2:
