Colorado MJ'ers - Jenny Creek/Yankee Doodole Lake May 27th?
XJs4Ever replied to XJs4Ever's topic in Rocky Mountains
mm-kay well the word is that trail is still snowed in so it will be July/August at the earliest so this run is moving to Slaughterhouse or something else thats dry. or cancelled altogether due to obvious lack of interest? -
if I can get just one person from here or work to go on Wednesday next week, its a trip. Or Sunday the 31st - don't matter. If you've never been, look here at what yer missing.... Took these in 2003, 2004. The river becomes the trail in a few spots. The lake as seen from up on top The Yota we tipped over trying to rescue. Got video of them tipping the dude if anyone wants to see it. First obstacle. c'mon now SOMEBODY wants to go don't they? This place is a 7 [slaughterhouse is a 5] so its more technical but its BEAUTIFULL!!

It werent always ugly, bro. It'll resurrect itself with our help. here's some pics of the same area from 2001... my 89 XJ the first trip there.. the best camping spot ever... wally jumpin off the rock

Seemed to me the mapquest way was ridiculous - drive up 285 to pine junction, down thru Pine etc 1hr 44min and 76 miles just to the meet spot? I am going to go south from Parker thru Founders village, then to hwy 85 and 67 [used to be called Johnsons Corner] and take 67 to 97. that will shave 15 min off and about 32 miles although some of it may be dirt road. If I'm late - leave without me. i'll be in this....
-
Is this still on?? I may have to skip a days work and a days pay cuz I need out bad. How far is the trail from Sedalia? I am running to Slaughterhouse on Sunday the 17th to run it plus fill up on downed trees for next winters firewood stash if anyone else wants to go. Just me and a Yota buddy so far.

Dammit! I work Saturdays! :headpop: If I can possibly make it, I'll be there but the beast [work] isnt easily persuaded.

66th and Bdwy eh? May hafta go there. I didnt know about all the ZJ stuff fit the XJs MJs so I will return [after seeing if I can find those RE coils] and do some measuring and grab any/all parts that will strengthen that front end. Got a ZJ pitman arm in the attic I have had for several years just never put on. thanks 4 the info!!

Theres good days at the boneyards and theres bad days. Today SUCKED!! Didnt get anything I went for but... I did come home with a set of front coils off a ZJ with the V8 thinking they may be stiffer than the coils on my 6cyl Comanche. Its front lift consists of stock coils and 3.5" of spacers which shove the upper half of the coil so far forward it hits the swaybar links. Does anyone know if these ZJ coils will add any lift to my 4.0L MJ so I can remove some of the spacers and stop the ba-DUNK when the upper end of the swaybar link thumps the coil? They seem pretty thick compared to the OEM's on the truck. Maybe .002-.003" thicker.

Time for an update... Got her home about a week ago after the second 911 call for an ambulance. Still has the ostomy bag on, and all that used to come out the tailpipe still goes into a bag and thats a drag lemme tell ya not fun at all no way no how. But she is eating like a horse all day I am cooking this and that soup sandwiches etc etc etc she is drinking water a gallon a day, pop instant breakfast GEEZ mon! If I didnt know better I swear she has a bong and two kilo's up there I have NEVER seen her eat like this before! She has a plate with 8 screws into the leg and 2 more screws into the ankle and they put her into a walking cast that she can take off to bath and stuff [with a shower seat provided by one damn decent human being here on this group who I will include in my will]. She won't get the intestine reconnected until middle of April so we gotta deal with that a few more weeks but its getting to be less a chore than it used to be. Ya get used to it after while ya know? I had to go back to work a few days ago cuz the vac time ran out so I set her up with a cooler full of food/drink to keep her comfy till I get home for lunch and ultimately for good in the afternoon. All in all she's recovering very well and knowing that after I almost lost her the first 2 days and a clergy was standing by we are thankful for everything. Especially all the positive thoughts you sent our way as you can see it DID help and one who was not especially religeous I am now reconsidering my beliefs because we feel a miracle did happen and a second chance has been given. It will not go un-noticed as I have begun to expand my spirituality to include that which I was not convinced was legit but you know I must say that I opened all doorways during this to allow every avenue its fair chance and I am genuinely enlightened by what was presented to me/us. Made a believer out of me. Guess your never too old to change eh? Thanks people. Words are inadequate to express our appreciation. Rick n Cin

Anyone know where that PDF file went that was on the old group? I need to find out why my heater doesnt work and thought that would help. I have it on a disc somewhere but no clue where it is. Before I rule the core as plugged I want to make sure it isnt something else like the door box not opening all the way. I have vent in the OFF position and no heat.

I'll be watching cuz I'm gonna be home for the next week or so but will put a sticky on the doors telling them NOT to leave anything with my worthless neighbors. Thanks man.

Seriously - her meals were overlooked 2-3x and she wasnt even fed at all sometimes. Her meds were not on track and sometimes were 45 min late which pushed the next dose way behind scheduled times so she didnt get them at proper intervals. She had an itch on her back last saturday and had a nurse scratch it [at the new hospital] and it was a fentinol patch!!!!!!!!! it was put on feb 21 at the rehab place. That is a time release patch that should have been off in 24 hrs but noooooo it was never removed. She had a picc line in her left arm and NO VITALS ARE TO BE TAKEN BELOW THE PICC LINE but they consistantly took them from the same arm. CHRIMINY!! I was an EMT for 5 yrs even I knew that. The opening in the illiostomy bag should only be the diameter of the intestine but they were cutting the hole at max size so all that acid sat against her skin 24/7 and burned her horribly and caused a staff infection on her skin around the wound site. DO YOU THINK WE HAVE A CASE??!!! Dammit I don't want money I just want them to be forced to get their act together and FIRE those incompetant idiots who can't follow proper procedure. This isnt an auto shop - I thought it was a HOSPITAL!! You know, a place wher people are supposed to be um er uh whats the word.. oh ya - PROFESSIONALS! yup we're PISSED OFF! And someones heads gonna roll for this one. :fs1:

Actually things took a dump on us. she came home last Tues, but three days later I had to call 911 and get her in again. She was puking bloody mucus and it turns out she was suffering from massive dehydration. Her potassium and electrolytes were all messed up too. Shes still in but is getting better and the surgery to connect the illium is so far the 19th of March. Without going into alot of details, the rehab place screwed up bad and we are retaining legal help and plan to nail that funny farm with a suit. She lost 20lbs in the "rehab" place! :dunno: Me - I'm itchin to do some moderate wheelin ASAP!!!!! :wall: I'm goin CRAZY and will snap if I don't have some fun - dang soon!

On one condition - you take in return some DVD's we don't watch anymore. Movies, live shows like Cinderella, Whitesnake, some hot rod - rat rod custom car stuff etc.. :brows:
-
Thanks bro! Its been a roller coaster right from the get-go but BIG NEWS! Even tho the small intestine is still stickin out her side [ya its gross trust me :ack: ], they have decided that until they re-connect it in 4 weeks, she can come HOME!!!!!!!!!!! Tuesday 23rd is the estimated 'outta there' date. WOO HOOO! Over four weeks flat on her back with bitchy nurses and crappy reception on the TV not to mention food that a goat wouldnt eat and they decided theres nothing more they can do for now so may as well send her home to begin the third phase of therapy. Now I get to take about a month off from work [leave of absence] to play Mr Nurse. I'm hopefully going to get some help with house pmt and utilities thru a 'employee in need' program at work cuz I'm months behind in everything. Lights and heat are about to be shut off, TV was shut off four days ago but I don't give a damn I don't watch it anyway but thats all she has so I guess I gotta figger out a way to get that back on. Burning wood to heat the place now [and sleeping with four cats helps too     ]. They capped the tracheostomy tube to see if she could breath solo for 24 hrs and she did so its gone now. Shes happy. That had to suck man I can't imagine having one o them :( Stay tuned....

Thats one big-arse camper on that longbed, dude!! WHOA!! Does that sucker come with its own area code and doorbell?

I'm so used to taking care of myself that I didnt realize how hard it is sometimes. Nor how much it means to have friends to share the burden. I thought I was short in the friends dept until all this. Now I feel like the richest man on the planet. I think without you guys I'd be really messed up by now. Cin's still got the tracheostomy so speaking is hard but she can speak and you've no idea how it felt to hear her voice again. Eating is still an issue but soups and stuff don't hurt as much to swallow as solid food but she has to suck it up and endure if she plans on coming home before spring. I took a camera-fone pic a couple days ago of her with a smile on her face for the first time in 3 weeks since this all happened. She's trying hard and is not giving up! Image Not Found

Thanks brother. Its a hard road man and as many times as I wanted to quit - I know I can't so I take a deep breath and push forward. She's suffering way worse than me. I actually saw the intestine sticking out her side yesterday. Thats was some ugly stuff there trust me. Why they don't reconnect it I don't know yet. Love your truck!!! I'd like to see a full size pic of that bad girl if u have one!? Rick in Parker

I can only say that I am overwhelmed by all your kind thoughts and wishes of hope and recovery. I have PM'd everyone individually who replied to Petes post about Cin. Thanks to all of you. Everyone. I get choked up when I see the replies. She and I have been together 29 years last December and you form a spiritual link after that much time with someone. Heck, she was only 20 when I married her and parts of the marraige process required her parents consent! Good thing they liked me otherwise things might have been different. Anyway, She is still on a trachea tube to breath and can't speak. Its been 2 weeks now. The night they admitted her, a clergy was called because she was not expected to survive. Her temp was lethally too high for several days due to bile escaping into her abdomen. As of today her lower intestine is still severed and it exits her side into a bag. When I got to see her the following day, she seemed to be in a coma. I spoke to her and I hope she could hear me wherever she was inside that busted up body. I guess I'll have to wait until she can speak to find out if my voice penetrated the dream she was in or not. Today she is out of the critical care unit and in a rehab hospital for total body rehab for the chest and abdominal injuries plus she needs intense nutritional therapy. Physically, I'm bulletproof. Nothing penetrates my thick hide but inside I feel like I was the pinata at last years Cinco de Mayo party. For many days I couldnt see thru the tears or concentrate on anything. But when she squeezed my hand for the first time, I let out a WHOO HOOO that brought the entire floor running in [or away] from the room. The busted leg is in a cast and even when she does get to come home she'll be restricted to the upstairs for awhile and I will bust her butt if she goes near the stairs even if the damn house is on fire. Her Mom just passed away a couple months ago, so her Dad was understandably sick to death when he found out what kind of state his only daughter was in. He's in TX and can't travel so keeping him updated has been a full time job for me. People - when this all smooths out and life returns to "normal" this is one guy who is going to need a weekend on a mountainside with just some friends, fishin pole, a brew in the let hand and a thick steak in the other. And the hardest decision I have to make is 'do I drop my line here or over there?' Meanwhile, I have my four little feline fuzzballs and you all to keep the sanity going just a little longer. Thanks for being there and I mean that. It matters trust me it matters a lot. Rick in CO
