One more thing.. I worked for Dodge years ago and they said once a recall, always a recall meaning it does not matter how many times a part fails it must be resolved. But times change. In my invisible post that doesnt seem to have appeared I thanked you all for the feedback. You're awesome.

ok I'll try again to post a reply. No offense ppl but this is why I don't visit much. Posts vanish, its hard for me to navigate around, etc.. Sure miss the old group on Y! This repair seems to be hopeless so maybe a fabbed up XJ hand brake is in the works now. here's the old 89 after mine let go and it ran into a tree... ok now I've been told I can't post "that extension" here. Bodyworks 90% done, primered, got the 35x12.50's on the 15x10 black D's but I'm fighting a couple mechanical and electrical monsters now. I have pics just none uploaded anywhere. It would be nice not to have to go thru that just to post a pic. Do we have a foto place here that we can link to when adding pics to our posts?

I seem to have lost it but I used to have the actual recall for these damn parking brakes that let go and destroy MJs like mine did. I got it from the old Comanche group but upon going there - its gone. Breaks my heart too that was quite the place and always on my mind. Where can I get it? Mine is totally useless now and I removed it to try and fix but its a waste of time. Would Jeep provide me the parts if I showed them the recall? I am pretty sure if I went in they'd do anything to frustrate me into leaving empty handed. Last time I posted was in projects looking for a photo of a black MJ for a custom paint job I'm doing. Crazy I think that last ones the one! The bodywork is about done and its about to get shot with grey primer and then the ache of tired muscles begins as the wet sanding progresses. Black is not very forgiving when it comes to dirt and dents and any flaws you miss in the prep will scream out in the end.

did the google thing already - nuthin. I did call speedpros for an estimate on the graphics and that may be the way to go. its a ways away from paint still so... :dunno:

Hey strangers! I'm about to paint the 89 MJ black - from white now - and have been looking all over for a shot of a black MJ with no graphics of any kind on the sides. Scotts would be perfect but no straight-on side views found so far. It must be a 90° shot, not angled at all so I can impose the pic I want on the side and have the graphics made for it. You'll love this sucker when I'm done man it will knock yer sox off. I dumped $1,200 just in wheels and tires, and doing the bodywork now. Some wetsanding then shoot it black. Got a few more inches of lift waiting to go on, plus I pulled the flares and trimmed the fronts. Rears are a problem due to the welds for the inner fender panels so may end up with Rustys or Bushwhackers. Anyway if you have a pic you could email me or a link I sure need one pronto. I organized several company events and Moab trips in the early 2000's and trying to get a dozen ppl to all get the same days off, setting up [and changing fifty times] the hotels and resorts, blah blah well it nearly drove me to bloodshed and it dulled the entire experience. Took the magic right out of it. I feel Bretts pain and by pestering the man with petty issues is going to ensure the absense of a repeat. I'd have the enthusiasm of a ten dollar hooker by now. Lets give em a break. He's at the mercy of the idiots at the shops. :fs2:

I have been the coordinator of hundreds of "things" that involved the reliability of others, and they failed me 99% of the time and guess who took the abuse?? yep so I understand what you're going thru. I'm smarter than that, k? This is what happened.... I had backed up a hill to let 2 guys pass and I set the brake with it running and then just shut it off cuz they were eff'in around. I got out to hustle them along and the truck wasnt in gear. I went back and opened the door and CLUNK it let go. I was running along side trying to get in to do SOMETHING man I looked like a solo guy in a 3-legged race hoppin along on one leg but alas WHAM it hit the pine tree and it rained needles on me for 10 seconds. I know about the brake thing k both my MJs had this problem. I have since performed some damm good redneck engineering to straighten the old guy out and next week I am off on a parts run. pix to follow.....

If your MJ hasnt had that brake release recall performed, do it. Mine was on a hill on Labor Day and the damn thing let go and my truck rolled down a hill and into a tree. Lucky the radiator didnt get punctured but it and the AC condenser were both pushed right up to the fan. Hood and driver door won't open or close now, LF fender tweeked. I was super PO'd to say the least but that old MJ got me out of nowheresville and home ok. Now its off to the boneyards for a new front end. I have used a come-a-long and ratcheting strap to pull the rad mounts out and straighten the bent rad and condenser. I'm tempted to replace the front clip with the post '97 ones if I can find any but I'll need fenders too won't I?

Heck, I can't imagine four control arms would be much more than 20-30 buck-a-roo's to ship so I am cool with that. Decide what you want for the parts and I can send $$ any way thats best for you. :rock on:

Does anyone in CO have any UCAs LCAs and a tracbar preferably off a newer XJ/ZJ say '96 or newer? My DWs have become uncontrolable and those are just about the only parts I have not replaced. can't afford new ones hell just the UCAs are $90 a set!! I've replaced bushings at half that cost but I no longer have access to a press to insert them.

[sniff] I'm missin my XJ sooooo muuuch [sob sniffle boo-hoo] :( Any idea when the springs will arrive? Oh yea and the current tags arrived yesterday. You got the proof of insurance I faxed so hopefully the fuzz will leave you be a little longer. I can fax the current registration if necessary but copies won't fly for the wrong deputy dawg. :no:

Scott - tried calling you but got your voicemail. I can't tell if your packs are aftermarket or OEM but they look way different than my stock packs on the '89. They look like some Skyjackers I put on the old XJ I used to have. I can weld most anything but a main leaf isnt a repair I'd even attempt. If you need a loaner car for a couple days, you can take my '91 XJ if it'll help you k bro? Rj :waving:

Awesome - thanks! Looks way better than my feeble attempt. $16 isnt bad either...... Next I plan to coat my bed. Not with that DIY roll on stuff. From what I've seen that looks hideous like black oatmeal. I will probably use spray undercoating. At least that finishes with an even texture.
