  1. I would like to know too. Mine kind of works but the switch for the blower motor control is shot so the PO wired in a toggle switch for the blower motor under the dash. :wall:
  2. yeah that's the reason I've decided to go with this swap. Seems to be the easiest.
  3. Well I got the 3.4 in my garage. I've pulled the valve covers and oil pan and everything looks really clean. I was thinking of tearing it down more but then realized its beyond my knowledge base and would further delay getting it in my truck. Hopefully this Saturday I should be pulling the 2.8 out so I can pull what I need off of it then sell it to a yard for scrap. Then I'll just be waiting till next Friday for my paycheck so I can get the stuff I need to finish the swap. What I already have: -3.4L v6 out of a 94 firebird -brand new radiator -new electric fuel pump So far this is all I have left to get: -new water pump -new gasket set -new timing chain -new plugs and wires -new cap and rotor -new tranny filter -new engine and tranny mounts -new fluids, oil, coolant, tranny fluid, and the notorious blinker fluid :smart:
  4. My reasoning for using the 3.4 is its the cheapest, easiest bolt for bolt swap into my truck without having a donor vehicle. Right now I just need to get my truck back on the road. Family having some problems right now and can use a second vehicle.
  5. Damn dude I completely forgot to look for you at Jeeptoberfest. Did you get to go?
  6. Hey I'm in the Ocala area too. I'm working on gettin my MJ back on the road just got a new motor for it. Have you heard of the Ocala Jeep Club?
  7. I know its been a while since I've posted anything but after my the 2.8 died I kinda just stopped worrying about it and just partied and had fun at school. Well now I got my Comanche fever back. Saturday I picked up a 3.4L v6 out of a 94 firebird.(pics soon) So far I've pulled the sfi injection and the valve covers off. So far everything looks super clean. I'm not 100% sure how far I'm going to go with this but I'm going to tear it down to the block to see if there is anything wrong then when the money comes get everything together to put it in. I'm stoked.
  8. Well after pondering a pondering and pretty much wasting time, I've been driving with the piece of crap 2.8 for over a year now. Well it finally bit the dust. Threw a rod last Friday :wall: Well now time for a new engine. And for time and money's sake (this is my dd) I'm going with a reman 3.4L from a 95 Camaro. I will be buying the engine through my work.(I work at advance auto parts it has its perks eh?) then I will be reusing some of the parts from the 2.8 and buying some new parts. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong Re-using from 2.8: Intake Exhaust Carb Alternator Timing Cover Mechanical Cooling fan Transmission(for now) Buying new: Radiator-mine is done Water pump New belts and hoses etc Starter Engine mounts and tranny mount (one of my engine mounts are shot and the tranny one is too) Gaskets If there is anything I have left out or if there is anyone who has done this swap that has any tips please feel free to fill me in. Thanks Nate
  9. Cool thanks. Actually all I was originally wanting was the brackets not the bumper. A friend of mine gave them to me because he had welded some tow point brackets onto his bumper brackets for his 97 xj. but then he got an offroad bumper from jcr and didnt need them. So he gave me the brackets and the bumper just incase the brackets didnt work with my old bumper.
  10. Will a 97+ XJ front bumper fit on an 86? Or will I have to make some modifications to the bumper or the truck?
  11. Well word on the street is it actually isnt a torx bit its an allen plug. 3/8 is what I've heard. The only reason I was thinking torx was because the shop I took it to get the oil changed was going to check my fluid level in the diff but couldnt find the right size torx bit. I wonder why lol
  12. Ok so I'm getting a low rumbling noise coming from my rear axle. I'm wanting to check the fluid level before I assume its anything worse, because I'm planning a complete overhaul and installing a locker in the next month or so. So my question is.... What size torx bit fits the fill plug on an AMC 20?
  13. If it wasn't for the flames I'd drive it.
  14. OMG! I was about to ask about this as well. My truck has been making a god awful deep vibration coming from the rear which I'm assuming is a bad bearing. Well here's my question. I work at Advance Auto Parts and for some reason our computers don't have the AMC 20 under my 86 comanche. I was wondering if the bearings and everything are the same from a CJ-7 AMC 20?
  15. Its in Daytona Beach, Florida. Alright brandon I'll keep an eye out for you too. I think I'm headin over friday night and staying till sunday. I've never been before but I've hear its nothin compared to JEEPTOBERFEST! Sorry I'm an OJC member lol.
  16. That is really sweet. But I don't get why everyone calls them Cheromanche's I think MANCHERO sounds way cooler.
  17. Damn looking nice. It does look at little low in the rear but it still looks great. I should be moving on my project soon. I'll be getting the donor soon a guy down the street from me is givin me an 88 or 89 cherokee for like $500. I'm gonna pull the engine an rebuid it b4 I put it in.
  18. YOU'RE the one who bought that on JF. I ENVY you.
  19. Its from a wagoneer. would that fit under my truck? http://ocala.craigslist.org/pts/2253509747.html
  20. srry I didnt get any pics
  21. I'm a retail salesman at Advance Auto Parts and I've gotten some interesting people coming into my store. However this isn't about any of those people. Yesterday I had a couple come into the store yesterday needing a flasher for an early 90's grand cherokee. Since I love jeeps I always end up talking to anyone who comes in that has one. Well we got to talkin and I was telling them how I have a MJ and the husband was like "Oh really I just ROLLED one of those yesterday". I was like WHHAATTT?!?!?! He showed me a picture and the cabin was completely crushed. That ruined my night :(
  22. I'm planning on tearing up my carpets soon to check to see how the floor pans are. I've been thinking about rhino lining the floor instead of putting new carpet to make it easier to clean and stuff. But the only problem I was thinking about would be that it would get really hot and I don't like burning my legs lol. Just wanna get some peoples opinions.
  23. alright well I was doing some front end work the other day, replacing track bar and some tie rod ends and I got to liking the height the truck sat at on the jack stands. It was around 5" higher than it was off the stands. I'm thinking about looking for some coils and maybe getting some aal from hell creek. I'm thinking about going about somewhere between 3-4.5" in the front and try to get close to that in the rear. If I get the coils and aals what else will I need to do to finish the lift?
  24. Well next week is spring break for me so if anyone wants to come up to Ocala and do some wheeling let me know and maybe we can get something going.
  25. well another idea I've been tossing around in my head is to get a motor and tranny from the jy for a few hundred and have them both rebuilt. And then save up some money and get a donor for the rest of the stuff and then just sell the 2 left over engines.
