thanks for the offer, but i've already got that taken care of. a buddy of mine has two d30's sitting in his yard. gonna cut the bracket off one of those.
-
yes, i've blead the rears. lots of fluid shooting out. still no brakes.
-
first off. for those of you who have an 8.8 with disks. what did you do to hook up a parking brake to the manche? i need a solution. second. i cannot get my brakes to work. i've searched but can't find the proper bleeding procedure for the manche, which i think i remember reading about a while ago. what is it? i blead my brakes, but i'm getting no pressure in the pedal, and no movement out of my rear calipers.

everybody! stop what your doing right now and go check your front end for any signs of rust/rot. this is/was the passenger side coil bucket/track bar mount on my 97 ZJ. that's right. only 10 years old. happened last tuesday night while my gf was on her way home from work. ended up in the ditch on the wrong side of the road! luckily she knew enough to slow down when it start shaking and banging. she was not hurt thank god. i had no idea it was even getting bad.

i noticed last night when it was dark that when i pulled the switch, my parking lights come on ever so lightly(pun not intended, but i'll go with it). so, eagle. you're saying it's probably one of my parking brake bulb not getting a good ground? er, wait, just re-read your post. bad socket, or bad ground elsewhere... gotcha.

ok, so....those pics are big. if anybody feels the need to make them a bit smaller, go to 'er. i would but i simply don't know how. can't get the brakes to work yet.....getting no pedal pressure whatsoever. back brakes not grabbing. i'm thinking there's still some air in the lines somewhere, as i put all new lines on at the back. i'm hoping it's not my master. also have to figure out how to make the 8.8 parking brake cable work with the front half of the manche system. oh, and figure out why my lights don't work. it just never ends does it?

as promised...the new and improved... the front from the side, to compare with earlier side shot 8.8! xj buckets and console...need seat covers though, these are stained beyond belief and just for fun, i'd like to introduce you all to kobe. best christmas present i ever got (last year). kobe, everybody. everybody, kobe.

this is kinda what i was thinking, but can anybody tell me where to find the grounds up front?

'nother update. it's amazing how things seem to get in the way of working/playing in the garage. well, last week, the D30 in the ZJ decided to separate itself from its' coil bucket/shock mount/track bar mount assembly, so i had to finish the mj, take it out of the garage so i could put the zj in there to work on. so.....i finished the soa with 8.8 this weekend. 3" coils up front, with 2" spacers, 2wd leafs and soa out back. looks really good now. i'm very happy with the way it sits. i put discs from a 96 crown vic on the 8.8, but am having trouble getting them to bleed properly. well, the bleeder screw on one caliper simply won't budge. i stripped it, then broke a drill-bit-stuck-bolt-remover-thing trying to get it out. looks like i might have to buy a new caliper for it. so, it's yard driveable at the moment but has almost no brakes, so it ain't going near the road yet. need to figure out the parking brake too......damn, the lights too (see tech section) pics tomorrow..... oh yeah, 4.56's now too! woohoo 8)

ok, so sometimes when i pull on my head light switch, my rear lights come on but no front ones. when this happens, both green arrows on my dash, as well as the blue high beam light all light up. sometimes when i pull the switch, the lights come on as they're supposed to. i'm thinking short somewhere? bad ground? has this happened to anybody else? can somebody tell me where the ground(s) is/are for the wiring harness leading to the headlights?? help would be appreciated. the front axle in my zj gave up the ghost last week, so the manche will be my DD for a little bit, and getting stranded at the mall because my headlights won't work just sucks.

i'm hijacking this thread from the other hijackers to ask how the rear taco shocks are doing. i just finished the soa on my manche tonight, and didn't bother putting the shocks back on the rear cuz they're just too damn long. (1/2" of uptravel just doesn't cut it) have you flexed it out? is 18" extended long enough? seems like 11" compressed would be perfect, as i have 14" bolt to bolt at ride height and around 3ish" to the bumpstop. gonna go to napa tomorrow...

your 86 will have a non c-clip dana 35. if the locker is for a c-clip dana 35, it may not work.
-
D35. and it's an 86 so it should be non c-clip.

i've paid more for less. certainly looks like it is worth $800. check the floor boards, rockers, and rear wheel wells for rust. if there's no rot, it's definitely worth that cash.
-
2wd leaf packs will also net about 1" drop
-
i was just about to say, either go long arms, or cut off some more material from that coil bucket assembly. looks like you have about 1/2" of down travel there before the CA hits it. my first thought was "hmm, i hope he's building for up and not down travel"

your problem is the ballast resistor already mentioned. guaranteed. unplug those two wires, attach them to each other. start your truck up and drive to the parts store to buy a new resistor. happened on my truck a couple months ago. on startup, the ballast resistor is bypassed, giving your fuel pump a good jolt of power, which pressurizes the system. after your key is turned back to the on position, the power for the pump goes through the resistor. these are notorious for failing. i didn't know that info until mine died. now i carry a spare resistor in the tool box. hope this helps. oh, welcome to the forum!

seconds 13, 14, 15, spotter pointing right. seconds 13, 14, 15, driver going left. second 16, rollover begins. drivers fault. driver couldn't have been looking at the spotter. that's an old vid, been around for probably a year or two now...

i had MT/R's on my YJ. absolutely loved them. i just may put a set on the MJ when my current set of Trxxus M/T's wear out. that being said, i love the trxxus m/t's. my vote for the driving you're talking about is either mtr's or trxxus m/t's. the trxxus are probably a better tire for all around. good siping for wet/slippery conditions, and they're much quieter than the goodyears.

will a gas tank skid from a 96 xj fit my swb 91 mj?
-
huh? lifting it IS modifying it. you're gonna have to be more specific. but the general rule is, the more you lift the suspension, the more problems you're gonna run into with other things like driveline, steering, brakelines....

wow, that is an amazing resto. nice work man. now you should sell it to me so i can put my 4x4 running gear in it and beat it all to hell! j/k...sort of. question for you: that cup holder you have. will it hold two large Tim's coffees or are they too close together? i'm about to put an xj console in my manche and am wondering about cupholders.
-
i have a HPD30 out of a 98 cherokee (big u-joints) under the front of the manche. i'm toying with the idea of putting a locker in it. i currently run 35" Trxxus m/t's which have about 60-65% tread left. i don't know what my next set of tires will be. probably whatever is for sale cheap when i need them. who here has experience with the D30/35"tire/locker combo? what's the durability gonna be like? oh yeah, 4.0/ax-15/np231 running gear with the D30 up front and 8.8 rear. 4.56 gears.

any of you canucks here have any experience with the APN header? how bout the shipping of the APN header? i know there are a lot of guys on NAXJA running them and swear by them. they appear to be a quality product, and they're much cheaper than the competition. just wondering if they're still cheaper when they come across the border and land at your door. http://www.automotivepartsnetwork.com/s ... duct=20009
