  3. Ocracoke Island July 20th - 27th 2008. I'll be there... renting the SAWBONES SURF SHACK!! Anyone else who wants to go that week, it would be great to do some beach wheeling with some other peeps from here?? Book your self a place at www.ocracokeislandreality.com
  4. Cheap 3" kits like the one from Rough Country, that just include coils AAL's, shocks, and stabilizer, will give you enough lift to clear 31" tires and these kinds of lifts are fairly friendly to MJ's because of the long rear drive line angles. I just finished install of one on my 1987 MJ. While I know that it is not the best riding lift in the world, and that I don't have any adjustability for my control arms, functions great for stuffing 31" tires under it.
  5. I'm interested in who makes the bed sides in this photo and if they are fiberglass or stamped sheet metal?? I'd like to have a set of them.
  6. Anyone done this?? If so how did you do it?? Project Stomper's lift and recent over haul is 99% finished. I just have to get rear brake lines situated and they are rusty rusty rusty. I'm probably going to yank the Turdy5 and put either an 8.8 or an XJ D44 SUA on the rear of this thing and I want to eliminate the Rear Porportiong Valve. The factory setup uses a return line for the rear brakes. On XJ's without that valve, there is no brake fluid return line for the rear brakes. If I eliminate the porp' valve, should I keep the T and the return line, or eliminate it? If I eliminate it, should I just plug its port on the factory MJ porp valve that is under the hood, or should I swap that out for an XJ one?? Anyone done this... I checked search, no good write ups??
  7. I'm gonna start a new post about this. but I figured that I would post the pic here Who here has done a weight distrubution porportiong valve bypass or elimination and how did you do it??
  8. I bid $1655 It sold for $4350 I can't believe that some one bid that much. The next bid was $2900 The guy was stoked though. He had the lights and sirens on when he left the station tonight after the meeting in the snow.
  9. I local Fire Department is opening sealed bids on Monday night for a 1972 Chevy C30 (single rear axle) truck. This was the brush truck. Truck is complete with 4x4, winch, lockers, radios, lights, siren, etc. Truck has a factory 350, and a four speed manual tranny. Truck has a slide in 19HP briggs and straton pump and 250 gallon water tank that was used in June/July of this year to fight fires. Works fine. Truck ran its last fire call on September 20th 07 This truck has a near mint condition, very rare long factory step side bed. It is missing the tailgate. The rest of the body of the truck is in very good condition. There is a few very small rust spots on the bottoms of the doors that have been touched up, but since this thing was garage kept it is near mint for a working truck of this age. 350 purrs like a kitten. What is this truck worth?? I'm going to submit a bid Monday and I'd really like to win this truck. I'd remove the bed and install a utility body and put a snow plow on the front. The bed is probably worth $1000 it self??
  10. Dude I think that your MJ is a ugly huge hunk of junk with a blown up motor. You should just sell it to me and go buy a Ford Ranger instead. Nice Rust Free 87 MJ
  11. I have seen that happen before. My 1987 MJ had a bad spring perch on one side. Not that bad, but it can happen. I just wonder what the rest of that ZJ looked like that was shown in the photos. There are probably holes in the floor big enough to slide a coffee can thorough.
  12. You guys know how they have been having all of these guinness book of world record ideas... I was thinking.... What if we were to Organize the largest same vehicle manufacture caravan or convoy. Just think about what would happen if we could put a few hundred Jeep vehicles all in a line a drive 25 miles or something... Just a thought
  13. It never happened! Why is this sticky anyhow?? It should happen though.... We should plan for it to happen in 2008. Pick a weekend now and stick to it. The problem is that they have closed most of HAWKINS HALLOW down to that famous little rickety a$$ wooden bridge over Indian Head Creek, except for those of us who utilize the road way as a boating take out when IHC floods for white water boating. So really there is not much wheeling unless we goto Coopers Rock WV area. I still think that we should do this though. It could be a meet and greet close to the street weekend with a bunch of fun tossed in.
  14. Zinc Plating?? On what?? The only thing that got zinc plating was the 2 external pieces of the unibody rail under the cab and up through the engine compartment. Otherwise these things are RUST BUCKETS!!! XJ'S are RUST BUCKETS TOO! If they were driven in any salt/cinders, or in any climate where it rains more than it snows or is dry, they rusted something fierce. As for the floor boards, AC leaks, and sure the door seals and stuff leak to, but the simply fact is that the metal was just crappy quality metal, and crappy quality finish on that metal in the cab it self. A good friend of mine took his carpet out of his 1992 when it was new (worked at the dealership and saw 87's rotting out already) and he drilled about five small holes around the inside of the bed of his truck to access the back sides of the wheel well exterior panel joint. He sprayed hot grease in those holes once every year down into the pinch weld and the crud trap where the root of all MJ bed rust starts. Sure his bed sides were messy, and on 100 degree days his truck dripped some times, but it is IMMACULATE today. Best condition 1992 MJ that I have ever seen. It is a NO PACKAGE model, just a plane White 1992 MJ 4x4. I convinced him this past summer to steam clean all of that grease off of everything, and apply a better rust proofing product that does not make such a mess. It was amazing how clean that truck is.... then he sprayed the grease back in there about 2 weeks ago. I guess it has worked for 15 years....
  15. SHOWOFF!!! I LOVE THE NICE SHINY FRAME PICS
  16. and Yes you are right about the little TOY STOMPERS
  17. Yep. I supply all of the parts for my own personal vehicles. When we start the 1989 Project in the spring, I have donated the Jeep to a non profit that is going to own the vehicle through the build process. We have several sponsors on board to produce a BBA (billy bad A$$) rig hopefull in time to take to BIG DOGS in May of 08. Just the past few days we have been getting a tremendous amout of support for the project from manufactures and retailers.

I dig it and I would buy one.
  19. Finally after over two years of slapping around projects in my head trying to find motivation to work on one of my two MJ's again I have started work on Project Stomper. I bought Project Stomper, as a bone stock, repainted, 1987 MJ with 51,000 origional miles in the spring of 2006. I bought it from my neighbors father for $1200. When I bought the MJ it had a broken shock mount on the drivers side of the D30, and the radiator was leaky. I replaced the radiator with an all metal 3 row, and I immediatly put 4 new 235x75xR15 Walmart GY Wranglers on it on black steelies to replaced the mismosh of mistmatched tires and wheels that were on it when I bought it. I drove it that way for 1.5 years, with no drivers side front shock. A good friend of mine was hired last summer at http://www.wactc.edu as the auto mechanics instructor. We chated and I told him that I wanted to do some work on this MJ and after we talked he thought that it would be a great project for the students. So here is where we are at. They rebuilt a 1995 Non Disco D30 with 3.55 gears with new ball joints, new seals, new rotors, new brakes, new calipers, new wheel joints, and new axle bushings in the upper control arm mount locations. They put new 80W90 in the pumpkin. They are replacing the old Disco D30 with the new one, and installing Rough Country coils, shocks, and steering stabilizer, yoke joint, soft brake lines. This is the RC2.5" package. They are adding the RC2.5" AAL in the rear with new U-Bolts, new brakes, new E-brake cables, and a new yoke joint. They are installing an ARB Bull Bar on the front. They are installing a new Exhaust Down Pipe between the manifold and converter. They are installing a rear license plate light and a new trailer wiring harness. They are installing a set of tail gate straps. They are installing a factory T-Case skid plate. They are installing an electric engine fan on a switch, and a new factory fan shroud as well as flushing the radiator. They are replacing the fluids in the D35 gear box, crankcase, and t-case. They are performing a front end alignment. They are installing a Radio Shack CB Radio and antenna. And to top it off I am installing BFG MTKM's on Wrangler Gamblers. I should have the MJ back by some time late next week. I'll post pictures then. My costs were parts, plus a work order feel that was less than $10. I'd rather do the work my self but when you are busy as heck I can't beat the free labor. They do excellent work, like removing every single speck of rust from the new replacement D30 and painting it. You can't beat it any way shape or form. In January, they are going to start working on my 1989 that none of you were interested in buying. That will be Project Bigger Stomper It is getting an RE SOA Kit, 4.56 gears, Non Disco D30/D44 combo. Front OX locker, stake flat bed, to finish out the rolling chassi on 265x75xR15 Retread's with BFG AT Tread. I'll either put black steelies or sears brand Outlaw II wheels on it. This part of the build will be done next spring. The rest of the build will include ARB Bull Bar, Warn Power Plant, Fresh Reman 4.0, Reman AW4 Auto, reman 231 wSYE, CV Rear shaft, and a square fuel cell mounted on top of the bed at the back of the cab wall. I have recently obtained a front clip fro a 1995 XJ that is in very good condition that is the dark teal color. That is the color that we are going to paint the entire front cab/doors/clip.
  20. As long as it does not go away before out RUBI gets here it will.
  21. We ordered the RUBI. White one. Money difference between or 05 SE trade and the 32335 Sticker, and the 29,960 Invoice price was $14,500. SMOKING HOT DEAL!!

We added "RUBICLONE" package that includes MOABS, MTRS, ROCKER GUARDS, "RUBICLONE" decals that match in RUBI font, SPRAYED IN LINER, HARD-TOP, FIBERGLASS UPPER's for the half doors, TUFFY Console. Origional Sticker Price on the 2005 SE was $19,745 Sales Price on 2005 SE was $18,739 -$1000 Trade Rebate -$1000 Rebate -$500 EMS Rebate Adjusted Sales Price on 2005 SE was $16,239 Plus Tax Title Fees Etc TOTAL DOLLAR AMOUNT SPENT $17,297 Equipment Above that we added, New 04 Top $500, Rocker Guards $100, New 06 Moabs/MTR's $600, Spray Liner ($100 materials), New Tuffy Console (Industry Employee Spiff $100) Total Accessories $1300 Total Cash Investment in 2005 SE $18,597 Plus we got 5 Oil Changes, Free Tire Rotations for Life, and Free Emissions and Inspection for Life on the 05. RIGHT NOW THE 05 SE has 28,000 miles on it, 16,000 on the MOABS/MTR's THEY ARE OFFERING $16,835 plus some extra $300 on the trade that looks like $17,135 on paper I can't BELIEVE THIS BUT IT IS ON THE PAPER We are looking at one of two new JK 4 Door Rigs Wrangler X with Rear Locker/Dual Tops/other Misc Stuff Rubicon with Dual Tops/other Misc Stuff THE NUMBERS LOOK LIKE THIS White Wrangler Rubicon.....................................White Wrangler X $32335......................Jeep STICKER PRICE.....................$28170 -$16835..................................Trade..... ...................-$16835 $15,500.................................Diff...... .....................$11335 +$7,000.................................Pay Off.....................+$7000 $22,500.................................New Loan..................$18,335 +$55.....................................Docs..... ..................+$55 +$930...................................TAX....... ..................+$680.10 +$40....................................Plate/Title.................+$40 -$300...................................Extra $300................-$300 $23,225...........................TOTAL LAYOUT...........$18810.10 $725.................CASH DOWN to keep #'s even........$475 WE WANT THE RUBI, BUT THE X LOOKS GREAT ON PAPER FOR THE PAYMENTS AND THE REAR LOCKER make it very very capable saving $4,000. We will probably add 2" lift, 16" wheels and 265x75xR16 BFG ATKO's, and the Jeep will probably not see serious off road use for a long while so I think that I'm OK with the D30 and the 3.73 gears. We have to finance for 60MO's TELL ME WHY I SHOULD BITE THE BULLET AND GET THE RUBICON?? TELL ME WHY THE X with LOCKER IS A GREAT ALTERNATIVE?? TELL ME THAT I'M CRAZY IF I don't JUMP IN AND DO THIS RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY ARE OFFERING FOR THE TRADE. WE ONLY LOST $500 in 2.5 YEARS and 30,000 MILES on the 05 SE. OH and they know that it is an SE so we are not pulling any wool over anyones eyes?
  23. He could have at least had his slut in the photos in a bra and panties to make it worth looking.
  24. If the were to ship these to the dealer lot I would really consider buying one. BUT I WANT THE STEEL BUMPERS ON THEM FROM THE FACTORY!! I also want the capability to put factory back seats in them. The JK/DODGE DAKOTA platform actually has alot of potential. If we could get them to slip a V8 in that would be great. I'm not a diesel fan unless they are going to put a powerhouse in there. I have a friend that has a H1 PU version with turbo diesel that gets 35MPG and that thing weighs almost 7,000 lbs. Cummins needs to come out with a mini version of its big engine.
  25. 1995 XJ stalled out while driving on interstate. It would not restart. I pulled fuel line, excellent pressure. It still would not start. I did not have a screw driver. I had it towed home. Pulled dist, found rotor melted like a burnt piece of popcorn, and the metal contact in laying on the distributor. WTF happened???
