Question About Zj Read Coils N Shocks For Dropping
wvzj replied to Burntoast914's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Parts store should have a book with all the dimensions from the manufacturer, or you can look for the catalog online depending what brand you wanted to go with -
It's your Jeep man. If you feel more comfortable having the HO in there go for it. I Would personally keep the renix setup, just because I like to tinker and tune them

Question About Zj Read Coils N Shocks For Dropping
wvzj replied to Burntoast914's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would guess they would lower you around 2". A front to rear swap on a ZJ gives you three inches out back, so if you would put the stock rear ZJ coils in the front of a Zj they should lower it three inches. ZJ coils give around an inch or so of lift in a XJ/MJ, so ZJ rears should give you around a 2" drop? Sounds good... For your shocks I would just measure your stockers and get some that are 2" shorter or you could probably run what ya got since it's a pavement pounder. -
My MJ has 32's and 3.55 gears with the auto it's not bad, But plan on going to 4.56 once the ZJ is finished. I think I was getting 15-16 mpg with that setup. Really depends on your tranny and intended use

As long as you don't wheel it heavy I would think stockers would be fine in length.
-
I would take it to another shop and have them check it out. Your pinion bearing might be toast from the shimming issue you had. How long did you drive it before you got it fixed? Might even jack it up and pull the diff cover, to see/hear where its coming from.

USA Standards are known to be noisy, that could be your problem

x2 that little tool will save you some time and aggravation

I would say its either a poor set up job or maybe cheap gears. What brand are the gears?
-
Thanks, i am trying to level mine up after the SOA and wasn't sure if the 5.5"s would be too much. Yours has a nice stance. How did the Monstaliner work out for you? Are you pleased with the product?

What front coil springs did you end up using on the 89.

Lock Right Vs Spartan Vs Aussie Vs Lokka
wvzj replied to benjy_26's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I believe he is referring to the Powertrax No-slip. It is supposed to be a more street friendly version of the lock right -
I just ordered a 39 tooth long shaft from Quadratec. They had them in stock

How To Lower The Front On My Mj Comanche
wvzj replied to Burntoast914's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Front TJ coils will lower it around an inch -
For me it was just easier to make my own spacer. I'd rather have the peace of mind with a new booster.
-
The only benefit to the kit is that you wouldn't have to make a spacer for the firewall or grind the rod flat for the brake switch on early MJs and XJs. But I still don't see where the extra cost factors in. For $180 you can get new Raybestos MC and booster from Rock Auto.

I did the 96 upgrade on my 86 I use to have. It does make a noticeable difference.

wvzj replied to Iron Jacket's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here is a link with some good info http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=70388 You will have to get a new t-case with a 23 spline input gear or change the gear in your case. -
I googled it but couldn't find anyone with first hand experience.

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this kit. P# DDBXJ2 Heavy Duty Master Cylinder Kits for your XJ model Cherokee! These are a direct bolt-on replacement! Sold Individually. Kit includes a new master cylinder (1" bore) and a new dual-diaphragm brake booster. Works with and without ABS brakes. DDBXJ1 has an 1 1/8 bore

I like your truck and setup as well. How do you like your RK long arms on the manche? That's what I have on my ZJ and absolutely love them.

Anybody know if this is the factory gas skid? It is pretty freakin beefy.

Here are some pics of the OR Fab front winch bumper. I'll get some lights and a winch put on her sometime. I am very pleased with the fit and finish of the bumper, the only thing I don't like about the bumper was it was all grade 5 hardware except the 3 bolts that attach to the steering box were grade 8. A trip to the hardware store was an easy fix, but you would think grade 8 bolts would have been included.

Finally got some ZJ e-brake cables for the 8.8 put on today. It's nice to have an e-brake after a year without one. Also put on an OR Fab front winch bumper. I'll post some picks tomorrow if I remember.
