88 Speaker Size and location?
armybmbsqd replied to Luvtohunt's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
HIJACK If anyone is interested, i have a set of rear speaker mounts listed on e-bay. -
It's not too far away from me but if I brought this home my "so far understanding wife" would detonate and they'd be finding pieces of me for years

Check out this craigslist find. It must be the first Jeep Comanche ever built :D http://wausau.craigslist.org/car/780741333.html

Thanks for the link, I needed a manual for my TJ. Now I'm killin' trees with my printer :D

Does anyone have any experience with Fabtech lift kits? I have a lead on a new TJ 2.5" kit for a real good price. The kit is an adjustable system that uses the stock springs. The guys wants $400 for the whole kit with shocks. It sells for $620 from 4WD Hardware. It's a good deal just don't know if it's a good lift.

Making a tailgate theft-proof?

Don't know if these would fit but McGard has tailgate locks to fit a couple different trucks -
Anyone using Royal Purple diff oil?
armybmbsqd replied to JohnQ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Are you running the 70w-90 or the 70w-140 in your TJ? -
Thanks :D I plan on using Royal Purple synthetics for all the parts on the TJ. Well almost all. I don't want to pull the tranny just to drain the converter. I can get a bit of a deal on the fluids at work.

I want to verify the definition of the rear axle in my TJ. The build sheet lists it as code DSAP Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle. I assume this means limited slip. Am I right? I want to change the fluids to synthetic and need to know if I will need the limited slip additive. Thanks

Well I've had no success in selling the Comanche so what choice did I have :brows: I bought the TJ and am keeping the Comanche :D I am now the owner of an '05 Wrangler, 4.0L, auto, dual tops, a/c. I had the dealer run a build sheet and found out i also have a limited slip dana 44 rear axle 8) I will be able to put the MJ in storage this winter to save it from the salt they put on the roads up here.

I'm not sure if it works or not but my spare parts Cherokee has cruise control. Has anyone swapped cruise control into their Comanche? Does anyone know if the vacuum actuator from a newer HO engine will work with the controller from the RENIX cruise control. I have the HO head and intake and would need a newer actuator to be able to hook up to the throttle. Thanks

Silver lining could be a 89 with a 4.7 Stroker (selfish plug) :D

The only thing I ran into was a slight rubbing problem with the Canyon wheels and a poor caliper casting. I had to smooth the casting on the caliper with a grinder to prevent it from rubbing on the inside edge of the wheel. I'm not sure if any one else has had this problem or not but the fix was simple.

When I did the 8.8 swap in my truck, I offset the axle so the WMS on the drivers side was where the stock axle was and I put a single 1.25" spacer on the right side. This put the wheels back to the stock location and brought the drive shaft closer to the original center line. I have had no issues with this setup. I did the swap last July so I have about a year running it and love the extra stopping power of 4 wheel disk brakes.

I'm waiting for the school to offer a student version at a discount price ;)

i have a student version of AutoCad 2008 and love it. I took some AutoCad classes at the Tech College I'm going to. What really makes a difference is running any version of AutoCad on a smoking hot computer. The difference between the school computers and the computer I built this spring is amazing. 4GB of ram helps too :D

This one's my favorite for a super size grill.

One of my customers has an 88 Comanche and just had an insurance appraisal for hail damage. They told him the high end book value was over $6500. It appears that the cutoff for the NADA "Classic Car/Truck" is 1988. An 1989 books out at $2800 on the high end yet an 88 books out at $6700. What a difference a year makes ;)

LOL. Yeah, I'm an old retarded, errr retired Navy guy, and daughter #2 starts USAF ROTC next semester at 'Bama U in Tuscaloosa. Neither one of them wanted to be a squid. :D Can you blame them for not wanting to spend all that time out at sea

Fort Lewis in the summer time.... That brings back memories. I used to go around the ROTC training areas blowing up dud grenade simulators and other fun stuff :D Tell your daughter THANKS for joining from an old retired Army guy!!

When I drained the fluid it looked clean and had no "burnt" smell. I'll pull the pan and take a look inside. This will be for sale if anyone needs one (cheap!!!!)

I have a spare AW4 tranny that I got as part of another Jeep deal. Is there any way to test or check-out a tranny with out installing it?

I have a lead on a "Cherry" box out of an Eliminator with the factory roll bar. The guy is trying to get some pics to e-mail to me. My box is in pretty good shape but better is gooder :D He's asking $400 but I'll wait for pics to make an offer.

http://www.usmemorialday.org/backgrnd.html Memorial Day -- It ain't about hot dogs and hamburgers. Any time someone says "I don't mean to offend " or "this is in no way....." they usually do. I don't need a lecture on the meaning of memorial day. I have friends that gave their life defending our way of life. I have deleted my original post and will keep my thoughts to myself.
