  1. I'll keep you in mind but I'm not sure what shipping to VA would be
  2. Love that paint!!! I was thinking of doing the same thing but the wife don't care for that idea. She says I'm finally out of the Army and I should stay out
  3. I don't have any specific plans yet. I will get a better idea once I get a look at them. The 89 is the same year as my MJ so it would make a great spare parts "store". They both have clear titles so anything is possible..
  4. I got a $100 dollar Cherokee in Alabama. The idiot I bought it from couldn't get it running. Gas gauge was screwed up. I put gas in it and it started right up. What a freakin moron
  5. I read a writeup on NAXJA where someone used Drano to clean the heater core, said it worked fine. You may also have have a problem with the water control valve not opening. I just eliminated it by swapping in 97+ heater hoses, since the 97+ XJs don't have a water control valve. Heat works much better now too. Weren't you at Redstone previously? Yes, I was at Redstone. I retired from the Army in October and moved back up north to the land of %$@$%@ cold winters!!! I am going to school full time, working full time at O'Reilly Auto Parts and letting my hair grow
  6. $500 for both Cherokee's. I just have to find someplace close to home to park them. No room in my drive  HI to all the other S'consinites although I'm almost a Twin City guy  I live about 30 miles east of St Paul. Pat K 89 MJ 4.7 Stroker
  7. I've been wondering the same thing. I have a Chiltons and a Haynes and one says to empty the AC system and the other says nothing about it. Any practical experience would be great. I was also wondering if you could clean out a heater core with something like CLR? Unhook the lines, plug one and pour the CLR in and let it soak for a bit then flush it out. My truck heats up OK but the heater just doesn't seem to get warm enough. I put in a new thermostat a month ago but it didn't help much. Pat K 89 MJ 4.7 Stroker

    Parts Rigs

A customer came in the store today (I work at O'Reilly Auto Parts) and he knows I drive a Comanche. He has two Cherokees he wants to get rid of, one 89 4.0 and a 94 4.0 HO. Both for $500. The 94 has some engine problems but it does have leather seats I'm not sure what the wife will say  but she may come home to find two more Jeeps in the drive. The 89 runs great and has F150 springs on the front and some worn out 31" tires. The 94 has a 4" Trail Master lift with TC lowering bracket and good 30" tires, tinted glass but a bad motor. I think I can get $500 worth of parts out of them :D I have to go check them out and see for myself what shape they are in. More to come.... Pat K 89 MJ 4.7 Stroker
  9. I checked my dealer a couple weeks ago and they are not in stock anymore. One dealer in PA (I think) was showing a passenger one in stock but no drivers side were available. Pat K 89 MJ 4.7 Stroker
  10. I got the TC issue fixed tonight. Sometimes it's the simplest of fixes that you just can't see. I did a 96 brake booster/MC swap when I did my stroker install. I had to modify the brake light switch to make it work. Tonight I removed the driver side floor mat to dump out the snow and water and noticed one of the wires was loose. At least I found it Pat 89 MJ 4.7 Stroker
  11. I'm with LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW, I use a HO head, intake and Borla header on my RENIX block stroker. Just a few simple mods and it works great!! Pat 89 MJ 4.7 Stroker
  12. Topped off the fluid and put the other tranny controller back in and it still will not lock up.
  13. It has been colder than a tichs wit here lately and yesterday I noticed my TC is not locking up. This morning I checked the tranny fluid and it is a little low. Can this cause lock up issues?? I keep the P/C switch in the power mode. If it is in comfort mode the tranny seems to slide into gear instead of shift. I switched the tranny controller and the TPS with some spares I had laying around but still does the same thing. Any suggestions?? Thanks Pat K 89 MJ 4.7 Stroker
  14. Yes thats true but you can get real time info with a DRBII or MT2500. No codes are stored but the info is still there while the engine is running.
  15. I have been looking at getting a Snap-On MT2500 scanner to use on my 89 MJ and maybe the wifes Suzuki Forenza. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what accessories I would need to make it work? I think that the Jeep MT2500-49 cable is needed. Does it require one of the "Keys"? Thanks Pat 89 MJ 4.7 Stroker
  16. I just moved back to WI in August. I retired from the Army and now live in Star Prairie. A small town of about 650 north of New Richmond. About 45 miles east of the Twin Cities. I've seen a couple 'Manches up here but don't know if anyone from the forum lives up here.
  17. I used a 93 head on my 4.7 stroker in my 89 MJ. To fix the TPS problem I used the HESCO adapter. http://www.hescosc.com/shop.asp?action=details&inventoryID=45563&catId=7972 Not cheap but it sure makes it a lot easier!! Pat 89 MJ 4.7 Stroker
  18. I recently installed a Draw-Tite 75021 on my 89 short bed. It does need a straight step bumper for it to work. It took a little bit of persuasion to get it to fit when I installed mine. Check out the link below. They have a .99 shipping deal right now. http://www.etrailer.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=E&Product_Code=75021 Pat 89 MJ 4.7 L Stroker
  19. You do have to watch the price of things on e-bay but if you are a seller it can work to your advantage. I bought a used tailgate for my MJ that was in slightly better shape than the original for $25.00. It had a chrome handle but I wanted to keep the black. Someone wanted it real bad and it sold for $60 on e-bay. Works for me!! Pat 89 MJ 4.7 L Stroker
  20. Do you know what brand they are?
  21. Has anyone used helper springs on the back of their Comanche? I am going to be doing a bit of towing with my 89 short bed and don't want to have the rear end sag too much? I have plenty of towing power (4.7L stroker :chillin: ) and am putting in a tranny cooler. I should be getting my class III hitch this week too. No more step bumper towing for me 8). I am alsopgrading to a 8.8 rear end so I will have decent brakes!! Thanks Pat
  22. If you can't rewire it, try the HESCO adapter that allows the use of the RENIX TPS on an HO TB. I used it on my stroker and it works great. Kind of pricey but worth it to me. http://hesco.us/shop.asp?action=details&inventoryID=45563&catId=7972

    SCORE!!

Apparently I have two  I guess I need to pay better attention or have the other one removed. :dunce: Pat

    SCORE!!

The 4X4 light is not even on but you can sure tell when driving it that it stuck in 4 wheel drive. I need to crawl under it to check the vacuum lines. I know most of the vacuum lines under the hood were screwed up so it would make sense that the rest are messed up to. It needs oil and trans fluid change, new hoses and probably brakes but I still think I got a good deal. Pat 89 MJ and now 89 XJ
