Ballast Resistor, I smite thee.
comancheman replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
u know napa charged me $23 for one of those which burnt out less than 4 months later. i replaced it with a $6 one from the dealer and have been good since. -
ok i feel dumb. for some reason i thought i read on here that the number on the injector corresponds to the most appropriate cylinder. it didnt make sense to me but i figured id ask.
-
got my new injectors in the mail today and was just wondering what the difference is in them. they all come labeled 1 through 6 but whats makes an injector better for cyl-1 than it would be for cyl-5. hope that makes sense.

his site says to email him for a custom shipping quote
-
well mr judge let me keep my liscense. now all i need are those injectors!
-
hey fubar don't feel bad. i wana see it to i mean come on, how often do u get to see a pig with no @$$ hole? i still don't understand though. where is it all going? everything living or running has to have some form of exhaust
-
u can replace it. it cost me about $90 bucks at a tranny shop for the chain. then i split the tcase and did it with the tcase still under the truck. it wasnt to bad really
-
now that i think about it, if u do it the first way it doesnt have to be in 4wd
-
i believe if u pull the frnt dshaft and spun the front output with tcase in 4wd and tranny in park u could check for slack. Not that i recommend this but i put both ends on jack stands then fired it up put it in drive and let her go. then crawled under and listened. but once again i don't recommend this.

I'm not sure what tcase was behind the 2.8 auto but maybe the chain is gettin loose and grinding on the inside of your case. it happened to me and ive seen it a few times at work. just on 231 or 242s though
-
so I'm gettin excited to put the mj back on the road. just bought everything for a complete tune up and some new injectors from precision auto. i can't wait to be driving it again although i may be losing my liscense for 20 days due to a little speeding (young and stupid). when it comes time for the hearing I'm gona tell the judge ill be driving my comanche soon and speeding in that would be defying the laws of physics so no worries. wats the usual delivery time on these injectors for those of u that have purchased them?
-
u gotta take out the whole thing
-
thanks Twisty. Motion thats a nicce chart but the tranny isnt completely empty, good info to have though
-
just doing a drain and fill. how much do i fill? i think its 3.5qts but not positive. also gona be throwing in a bottle of lucas tranny conditioner.

that hose never quite made it back onto my truck after i replaced the manifold. i live in nh and have had no idling problems ever, it got pretty chilly up here this winter too. this topic has come up before and i know I'm not the only one who never put the hose back on

I'm getting the feeling we are alone in this. il take a look at my bros when it stops snowing. if i had to guess, we'll just have to swap out the headlight harness and bolt up the rest. i wish i could start doing it now but hes gonna be driving it for a while -

cherokee/wagoneer questions

DAMN IT! i want it so bad! -
my brother is picking up a 1987 cherokee/wagoneer with the crazy looking front end. it has a d44 in the rear and i believe an np 242. hes buying this just to drive for a few months until his yj is back on the road. so a couple questions: will the d44 be the same with as the d35 under his yj? will it boltup without any mods besides new perches?i hope not cuz then i get it for the comanche. :brows: also the tcase shifter reads 4hi, 4hi lock, N, 2hi, 4low lock, 4low. i crawled under to look at the tag on the tcase but couldnt make out the model. I'm assuming its a 242 and the shift indicator just read different in 87? I'm used to the 4 fulltime, 4 part time, indicator on the later 242's. also right before the slip yoke on the end of the tcase there is an electrical connector, any ideas antidisestablishmentarianism that is? and finally, wats the vote on bolting that front end onto the comanche. ive seen it on here before i think, I'm still tosing the idea around, gimme your opinions. thanks, TIM

chevy drop shackle pics
comancheman replied to comancheman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ok talked me out of it. id really like to find a complete two inch lift springpack but i don't have the cash to have them made. my rear end sags a little but it flexes so nice. will someone please steer me away from the idea of 2 inch blocks now. id add another mj main leaf but finding one up here isnt gona be very easy. -
does anyone who is running these have pics? I'm looking to get a quick two inches out of the mj but I'm concerned about the axle getting pushed forward to much. also are there any other major downsides to a longer shackle? i already have soa w/ 5.5 re coils in the front

Will this work in my 88 SB?
comancheman replied to LJRockstar's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the airtex sending unit is not interchangeable between the xj-mj the float and sock are on the wrong side and it hits the baffle in the tank. i found this out the hard way. i searched all over called many dealers and no one had a new sending unit for my mj. the pump will fit in the mj sending unit -
no tailgate?!?!? but mythbusters proved it doesnt make a difference!

that was AMAZING!!! i watched it like a hundred times over. trucks jumping bikes while bikes are jumping trucks freakin awesome!!!!!!! i saw dennis anderson in the grave digger last year in stafford springs connecticut. best night of my life he flipped/rolled right in front of us landed on his wheels and ripped away. badass  i didnt have my voice for days after.
