  1. I'm not at all concerned about fuel economy or comfort right now. all i want is for my pos d35 with 200k to last 2 more years and mayb stop howling every time I'm on the gas. i might go 50/50 gear oil lucas I'm not sure yet
  2. does anyone use this in the rear axle? i always use it with an oil change and use the lucas tranny fix when i change the tranny fluid. it says it can be used as an additive in the rear end or u can run 100% lucas oil stabilizer. ive had a major rearend noise since i found water in the gear oil and it got a little better with a fluid change. I'm thinkin of going with just the lucas in there now though. I'm going to school soon and will have no money or time so I'm tryin to get the truck all set maintenance wise. just wondering if anybody has any experience with it. I'm usually not a fan or additives but i really do believe in the lucas products.
  3. ok so I'm going back to school in september and need a laptop. i really have no idea what to look for in a computer who makes a good one and what specs i will need so I'm lookin for some advice. all i really need it for is writing papers, comanche clubbing, probably some CAD software, comanche clubbing, the occasional free music download and probaly some other random uses. any info or opinions are appreciated and maybe even a little explanation of all the computer jargon ive seen
  4. i did a little searching around and i guess i have to use "solid rivets" so i can just pop them in with a rivet gun. i also heard that sometimes you can get away with pounding on both sides of the existing rivet to tighten them up in the hole. if all else fails theres always covering everything in tons of silicone.
  5. actually what am i thinkin i should go with aluminum duh
  6. anybody have any tips on fixing a leaky boat? i got it for free :brows: it has 8 small leaks all coming from the rivets that hold on what i would call the hull "supports" or "reinforcements" can i just grind out these rivets throw down some silicone and put in new rivets? also would normal pop rivets from the hardware store work? they don't look like the original ones but what should i use. id assume i should go with stainless.

  9. i work at walmart doing tires and ever since this article has come out ppl have been asking to see that dates on tires. we get a shipment in everyweek. in 07' the tires we got were stamped 07' and since 08' the tires have been made in 08'. sure if 20/20 came in they would find a few odd ball special order tires laying around that no one ever picked up with a few years on them. but i don't think the problem is as big as theyre making it out to be. also its amazing how many people walk in there point to the $30 185 50 13 geo metro tires made by douglas (made by goodyear) and say "i want 4 of those" then get pissed when i say we can't put them on. if people cared a little more about the quality of the part theyre putting on their cars rather than whats cheapest and did a little research first the issue would quickly go away.
  10. for what its worth my buddy ran a teraflex tracbar on his xj and it only lasted maybe a year before the non replaceable tre was shot. i spent the extra cash and went with a jks, have had no problems thus far and would buy another one but i don't think i will ever have to.
  11. arent the axle bearings lubricated by the gear oil? if so can i actually repack them?
  12. I'm an idiot! when i ran new brake lines i removed the little bracked that holds the line to the axle on the passenger side. went to drain the gear oil today and saw 2 little holes where the screws used to be. now i know where the waters getting.
  13. yeah a 4cyl was available in all years. they were made from 85-88 i believe 86 was the first year for the v6 and the first year for the fastback body style
  14. no its one of the ones that tended to light on fire but I'm willing to look past that.

  17. i hope my comancheclub membership isnt at stake here but i bought a 1986 pontiac fiero. hopefully i can save a little money on gas now and yes i know its a girls car. the comanche will stay on the road and always be my favorite. just putting it out there incase anybody needed to make fun of someone
  18. 190k and shifts mint. i drain the pan at every oil change and throw in 3.5-4.5 quarts of tranny fluid. i also use a lucas transmission fix everyonce in awhile. i can't complain
  19. fatcat i have been in your shoes, in a way i still am. i graduated last year and also bought my mj last year. i didnt want to go the cheap route but could no way afford to drop a grand on a lift kit. so i saved a little at a time and stock piled parts till i had everything i needed. in the end i went with soa rear RE 5.5 inch coils in the front jks adjustable uppers and RE superflex adjustable lowers and a jks adjustable track bar i scored the lower control arms for 50 bucks used from my buddy and also got his shocks for free when he went a little higher. in the end i ended up paying a little more than had i bought all these in a kit but i was able to afford it by doing a little at a time. do it right the first time its deffenitley worth it.
  20. i thought the last year for the aw4 in jeeps was 97 and then they threw in some chrysler piece. whats the truth?
  21. gear oil is full ujoints are new and in good shape. ill probably change the fluid, repack the bearings and hope thanks guys
  22. ive noticed lately after driving my truck for a few miles i hear a howl or hum coming from somewhere behind the driver. it only does it when I'm accelerating, as soon as i let off the gas it stops. I'm assuming the d35 is starting to see its last days. its out of a 1990 mj and has around 190k on it and has been turning 31's for that past couple years. does this sound about right? and any estimates on how long it will hum before she blows up if i change the fluid and do my best to stay out of the woods?
  23. i believe that was one of the few that came with the 4.56 ratio
  24. do you have an np 242 in ur truck?
