Project "Eliminator"

Been waiting for these pics. I'm stoked to go to smorr. Plan to go twice this year. How did the two parks compare? -

Okay. 6.5 and 33s is NOT a lot of lift. That's what I'm at right now and it's perfect. Looks, performance, the whole bit. I do want to say that the extra clearance you gain from going to 33s to 35s might be minimal but i can tell you this, there have been several situations where an inch or two would have let me ride out a ledge, a rutted climb and even just a boulder field. It really meant the diff hanging or not. Sure you could stack a few rocks but that's cheating! LOL I say go with what your first instinct was. 35s, so be it. Get used, you don't like it, sell them. 35s are the easiest tire to flip in the offroad world. Hell even trade down to 33s if yiu hate it because there will always be someone looking to step up. You might not be properly set up form then gear wise but I sure bet you can get by. The impulse guy up there nailed it pretty good -
I got the pass side slider in but not burned in. And here's a driveway pic just because ;)

the beer? id hate to be on the receiving side of that one! :rotfl2: the only thing i found when i mowed was the sense of depression having to think how many times I'm going to have to do it again :fs1: ill probably find of few of those woodchucks to get me through :D

First Hand Experience, Reviews?
SW86 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Rock krawler 3 link here for years. Zero issues besides upgrading the joints to the newer style which are rebuildable. I wheel very hard and they have held up great. They are my front axle sliders LOL! Plus I like how the brackets aren't part of the crossmember and they don't interfere with the cab supports either. -
Everyday I carry at work, my iPhone 5, an old timer knife and a lighter. Thats it. Everyday, all day. Off work, I carry my iPhone, xdm 9 compact, wallet, lighter and extra loose cash.

Forgot to add I had to remove the a/c condenser lines to get the front clip to fit correctly. So I went on and removed everything a/c related except the compressor. Id really like to go OBA with it in the future. Seems pretty straight forward..
-
Finally got the other 98 fender. A guy got the xj in a trade and bailed on rebuilding it. We of course then set in like wolves Have to love a good strip down. Anyway I'm just waiting for decent weather to roll in to paint

Damn I would of loved to get to wheel with you. Hell any other comanche for that matter and you'll be pretty damn close. About 4 hours for me to get there. Like I said we have a good group going may 16-18th. Only if we would of timed this up. Sporadic trip or what? -

MO as in Missouri? That's right up the road from me. If you go to SMORR I will hate you. I'm going there in May! -
Thanks guys. Ill finish removing the hoses and cap the compressor off. I'd like to do OBA but it will be down the list a little.
-
Didn't think I could be an 88 model
-
This might seem a bit newbish but I've never messed with my ac. it's never worked and to install the 97+ front clip I removed the condensor and one hose off the compressor. My question is, can I drive it like that? With the compressor just open so to speak. Should I try to seal off the remaining hose and cap the open hole on the compressor? Thanks.
-
That's why they are always gone around here. People rebuilding wrecked ones. Some companies come in and clean house too. I always can find pre97 but 97+ are always stripped clean

There's a write up somewhere here and on the net. You cut the bottom part of the hinge off. The hinge on the door side. I used a dremel as its really the only thing that you can fit in there. I then used a punch and hammer to knock it off the rest of the way. It's very simple. They can be put on and off with ease. If no one links it for you or posts up pics, ill go take a few

Found his actual page. Like the Backbone this thing REALLY strengthens the front of an MJ/XJ. http://www.orsfab.com/index.html Link did not work for me try this http://www.orsfab.com/ or http://www.orsfab.com/bumpers.html I've actually wheeled with this guy. He even had to winch me out of my avatar pic. It's a solid setup.'

I didnt. :laughin: ride was terrible and shocks were nonexistent after a few months. they seem to have redone things and are supposed to be better. i know a few guys that work there and lots of people who run their stuff with no issues. i might give them a shot now days but back then i kicked myself for it. however, IMO, lift kits and things are like anything else. most of the time, you get what you pay for....

we need to plan something. ive been planning a trip up there forever it seems but never get anybody else from my area to go. i think you'll be okay in lions den. you've got protection :rotfl2:

I am very pleased. I do many rock crawling and slight mud and they have done great in both. They do ok in sand but like to dig. My next set (35s) will be grapplers again. Price and performance are both good, so why not! Lol
-
Ill see if I can find my old one. It's a long shot but I thought I kept it
-
Got the swap 85% done. Need the driver fender and some ac lines either removed or ill have to cut the housing. I'm going to take it back apart and decide. The grill is now painted white Also went on and cut the rest of the lower bedside. I've always wanted to do it, so I did.

Thought about pulling a ballsy move. A one way plane ticket and a long ride home lol

If it was closer I'd be all over it. Any 91 or 92 around here they want a lot for rust buckets.
