Finally found some time to tackle front brakes 😂. Long story short I was head to Lowe’s Hardware and half way there I felt a pop in the brake pedal. After that a grinding noise commenced. So I pull into the parking lot and low and behold the front rotor was gouged out. At this point I’m at Lowe’s so I might as well get what I need and I only live 6 miles from there I just drove it back home. On the drive home I figured I might as well grab some fancy rotors since this thing is a street queen. Needless to say when I pulled the brakes apart it went about as well as you could hope for caliper that haven’t seen a wrench in 20 years. Slide pins stuck. One semi stripped out etc etc etc. I was planning to throw a new set of calipers in while I was at it but my wife had other plans so I’ll knock that out this winter 😢 All and all not a long process 1.5 hours to rotate tires and swap in the brakes and rotors. I just finished bedding her in and damn what a difference. From the pics it appears the friction material just sheared off the pad backer. I mean they were only 20 + years old. I should have gotten at least another 10k miles out of them 😂

Finally have nice weather so I gave the ole girl a bath and cleaned the interior. There is just something about that dark blue interior that makes me smile. I guess it takes me back to my grandpas 83’ Datsun King Cab I used to ride in growing up in the 80’s 😂

haha. Honestly 1000% times better than the OE non covered one. I wasn’t sure I would like it at all but the extra padding under the wrap is really nice.

Interior plastic paint… worth it?
oleskool replied to Elwiscon's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, prep is everything. SEM makes vinyl and plastic prep which should be used before paint. It softens the material to help the paint bond to the plastic etc. Also cleanliness is key / scuffing the surface. SEM also sells a nice no residue soap that works great. Gray Emory Cloth is your friend too. I detail out some of that in my a few post in my build thread. -
This is for another project, I just didn't know what they are worth.

You can look at my Project Build and see all the interior pieces I pulled and re-sprayed with SEM paint. Turned out great and holding up well after a year of use. -
Found this local to me and was curious what it would be worth if anything lol. Not sure what to offer. It came off a Cherokee.

Wish they would ship. Thank you for posting.

Ok so I went and did a thing. Decided to leather wrap my spare steering wheel. Still trying to decide if I like it or not….

Looks awesome.

No updates here, to damn hot to be working on it haha. I've been driving and enjoying it! I am making a wiring harness for the Oracle LED Taillights but nothing to really show for it yet. I have ordered the parts and when I find some time I will knock that out. On a side note I have been working out the rear 4 link double triangulated suspension on the stretched JK I wheel. This will take most of my time up to fall. Hopefully it will go smoothly haha.

I wish I could get the correct one from Rock Auto, the ones they sent are all metal body 4 wire to 3 wire sensors.

EGR ramblings and reach out
oleskool replied to cruiser54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
All the ones I found were discontinued or out of this world for pricing. I haven’t had the time to pull my EGR off to measure it or I would have already made one. -

If you tell me the dimensions of the plates that is needed I can see what I can do cost wise to machine them out of 6061 aluminum. -

TE AMP family. I can pull the mating part number tomorrow. Ampseal connectors are nice. They are used in tons of automotive applications. -

Well they came in. Undecided on what I’ll do with them. But here is what the oracle led taillights will look like on the truck. Part of me really likes them and the other half says keep it stock 😆

Me too. That’s why I didn’t look there first. It fired up perfect everytime 🤦♂️

All I can find in the box stores are the newer sensors from NGK/NTK and Bosch that are 4 to 3 wire with the metal bodies. Hoping someone has a lead on the older style 3 wore with ceramic body.

So yesterday while driving around my REM popped up a CEL. I pulled the code and it’s O2 Heater Voltage Low. So when I got the truck back home I went through and checked the circuit and the relays. Oddly enough I am getting the proper voltages on the proper wires at the O2 connector and the O2 sensor is reading correctly. Out of curiosity I threw in a known good O2 to see if that made a difference but still the same reading of 0.0 V from the REM. Is there somewhere else I need to be looking, reset the computer etc? Or is the REM not relaying the correct data? Everything on the connector side and relay side are good at this point unless the connector to the O2 are not making a good connection which I will dig into tomorrow. Anywhere else I should look? TIA!
