87 Comanche rear coils
jpnjake replied to Jeep_Rat's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Love the build, it was extremely impressive how well that cab corner turned out, very excited to see it all done -
Thanks, it is very accessible and does not get in the way of the passengers sitting. overall its a great spot
-
also just realized i hadn't linked to the old thread on it so i figured id link to it here and edit the beginning

I just started experimenting with grilles to decide on a chrome one so far the contenders are 84-87 87-89 and the wacky one 1997-2001 I’ve never seen anyone put the modern grille on a 84-96 without the rest of the grill so I experimented by taking the one off my xj and trying them on the mj it is too small in one dimension and too tall in the other. I didn’t know they changed the grille so much for the new one

Just put on my summer wheels and tires. I also put in a fire extinguisher just in case on the passenger side. This weekend I'm going to dig out the bed toolboxes and pick either a drivers side box or the middle box. I am also in the process of polishing the tail gait protector.update with more pictures when the box is on and the protector is finished. as you can see i also need to paint my roof and get a door that isn't dented.

glad they still have his truck, one of my favorite mj's ever is Don's

Just put a cb in the truck yesterday, worked great out by the highway. But I still need to tune it. Mounted the cb antenna right behind the passengers cab corner on the bed and cut the cb into the heater under the dash as I had a spare

It almost would, it’s actually way longer than it looks tho. But the width would be perfect
-
Here’s where I decided to cut my cb in on the inside. I had a spare one of these heaters Incase I want to revert to stock
-
Thank you for letting me know. I’ll keep this in mind for when I decide what to do for my xj
-
That’s a very good question, in my xj I'm going to wheel, but as for the mj in question It’s mostly a street truck that may go on some road trips. Plus it was an extra cb my dad had so I’m just lookin for antenna ideas. It’s an addition I’ve been looking into for a little while and already having a cb box swayed my decision to cb
-
Ive been looking at putting a cb in my MJ for a while. While browsing my antenna options I was wondering what people have already done or had ideas for on their MJ with antennas.

sorry to revive an old thread. Ive been going around updating my dads posts, I'm the little one you see in the pictures. sadly the truck did not get back on the road, the project fell to the side for the past few years. i just bought an xj and plan to wheel it once getting it settled as a daily hopefully I can help inspire the truck back onto the trails soon. hopefully we can get it on the road for its 20th anniversary.

By no means is it a great paint job, but it’s better than it was and will get me until I learn how to paint good in the summer

Lately I’ve been taking after my father jpnjim and learning all I can about Comanches, I’ve been to this forum multiple times over the past few years and just recently decided to join and post. If you are not familiar with this truck I’ll tell you about it. Its a 1989 pioneer short bed 2wd and column shift auto and the bulletproof 4.0 it is a manual window, no ac, low option low mileage truck currently having about 53k miles. The interior is nearly perfect and the exterior just needs a little work to be spot on. It’s a great truck. My dad had put on 97+ mirrors, a bed liner, and a tonneau cover along with the non idiot light gauge pack. Also adding a metric ton leaf setup in the back and some sagged 3” coils on the front and some 29” snow tires to make it movable in the snow up here. I proceeded to sometime around last year bring the truck out of its parking spot where it was for a few years, and get it ready for when I got my license. I washed, polished, and cleaned it up just in time to get my license. And recently I’ve started modifying by removing the bed liner and putting on the oldstyle mirrors along with painting the inside of the bed. Below I’ll post some before and after shots. Edit: 2023 For better cover Photo Page 1: Cb Radio, Fire extinguisher, Journey to Chrome Page 2: 21slot, Air horn, Limited seats, Visor Page 3: Enclosed Trailer, Chrome Ravines Page 4: Page 5: Page 6:

Project "Grandpa Jeep" (the anti-build)
jpnjake replied to jpnjim's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Sorry to revive an old thread, but I’ve been doing a lot of work to this exact truck and wanted to document it in the same place as the original recently I repainted the inside of the bed after removing the bed liner, and ceramic waxed the truck to get it extra shiny
