Heater Fan Control Switch Question
comancheon33 replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Very easy to do. It is behind a small cover on the passenger side just below the dash. Move the cover, remove the two screws and and unplug the old one. Reverse the process to get your multi speeds back. -

Yeah thats my 43 GMC 6x6 2.5 ton. 216 inline 6 w/a 5 overdrive and still tops out at 38-39 MPH. Its big and ugly but useful to move about anything with. I plan on painting it this summer in drab olive with black feners and wheels. The paint that is on is from a prior owner using it in parades. My dad bought around 3 years ago and used around his place from time to time. After he passed away last winter my mom told me to get it out her yard. She hated it when dad brought it home. I think it is unique and it means alot to me also. -

Yeah its gonnabe fun. This is my second 4wd conversion but my first 4.0 swap. Been working on cars for 10 years for a living so it shouldn't that hard. Waiting on my coils to show up so I can slide the 30 in the front. My motor donor will be here Saturday. Rockhound is driving the ZJ up here. Goin to pick up the parts 91 XJ tomorrow after work. I got the bogus seats ripped out last night and swapped on the 31s. Looks better already. Also got the vinyl ripped out. Started bolting on the auto and t case shifters and linkage. Renixpower is comin out this weekend to help pull the dashes and swap over them along with the AC stuff. Hoping to fire this thing up early in Janurary. Pointing and laughing is completely acceptable also. I encourage and prolly start it first. 8) -
That dodge is a near twin to my 03 cumminstow rig. Only real difference is I have a stainless exhaust and 18 inch moto metal wheels. Not sure if I like the crawlers on the dodge much though. I think the color would look awesome on a MJ.

Well as some of you know I have picked up a few MJs here as of late. Currently there are 5 of them in my yard. Not to mention the 2 XJs and a ZJ coming this weekend About a month ago bpm4x4 told of a semi local MJ for sale that was without a motor. I drove the hour to go look at it and snagged for 200 cash. It was a very clean 2.5 4 speed 2wd. The old 2.5s head gasket gave up the ghost at 79000 miles. He had started a motor swap but lost interest after buying a full size chevy truck. I drug it home a couple days later and brought in the shop. I starting removing the flares just to find a spotless body under them. Thats when my wheels starting turning on this truck. I have decided to go through the work of swapping in a 4.0 HO AW4 and a NP242. The rig search was on. I picked up an 89 limited for a song about an hour from here with a bad tranny. It has donated its front axle, seats, and other interior parts that are gray and fit in the MJ. Parts are starting to come together in the last couple days though. Rockhound and I have worked a deal on a 93 ZJ that is rough at the least. He needed misc. this and that from and I am getting a strong running 4.0 from it. I also picked up a 91 Limited XJ with new 31 inch tires on it and budget boost. They 91 will be donated its wire harness and the AW4 and 242 and alot of other misc. parts needed to make this go. So not only is this a 4.0 HO swap it also an auto conversion and four wheel drive conversion. Lots of work but in the end I will have the truck I want. Here are some starting pics. Here is a general run down of what I am going to do 3 inch lift with 31s on 15x8 soft 8s Motor and tranny swap 4x4 conversion 242/HP30/8.25 sua Change the interior to gray (I hate the burgandy) Add the options I think it needs, AC, tilt, cruise, and so on. I will be posting some more pics in the next couple days as it is in the shop getting something done finally.

Renix 2.5 Idle issues
comancheon33 replied to comancheon33's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did that also too No luck. Manifold bolts tight all vaccum lines in great shape. -
I have my 89 2.5 4 speed MJ. It is idling around 300 RPM no matter what. Once and awhile it idle around 700-800 when warm. It will idle way low when cold and stall out regularly. I replaced the t stat because the old one was stuck open. Cleaned and checked sensor conections. Only thing I haven't checked is the TPS for adjustment. My voltmeters battery took a dump. Any ideas because this is driving me crazy.

New truck on the way, not a Jeep. What have I done?
comancheon33 replied to Joe Jeep's topic in The Pub
Yeah the spark plugs suck to replace but the altenator is easy to do though. -

KYMJ, Just wait till you need to put spark plugs in that 99. Whoever designed that truck needs to be shot in the head. -

2 of mine have 8.25s. :chillin: -
I agree with what that guy did. The mexicans are in the US now and our flag goes above theirs. The law is there for good reason and it is not ignorant in any way. Because if they wanna fly their flag above ours go back over the fence you came from. If Mexico is so great why are you here. IMO they all should go back.

There is a twin to that at my local you pull it. Had a lift and everything on it. My cousin bought the front 44 and springs for 125 bucks. He's got a 69 waggy that is awesome. I would buy it for sure if it had the V8.

400sbc in the jeep
comancheon33 replied to billybob_jeep's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Few years back a friend of mine up a small block in his XJ. He used the advanced adaptor mounts also. It went right in everything was pretty easy except for the exhaust. Had to find the right combo of manifolds and had a local shop build the y pipe. The XJ was a blast four wheel after that. Way more power than was needed for the truck. It crapped out the first dana 35 in half hour. -
I bought another couple MJs

Here are some pics of the 88 sportruck I picked up. This thing is clean except for scaly floors. I think I am going to swap in a 4.0 aw4 and 242 out of a 91 up HO. I got a non disco 30 and and 8.25 with 3.55s in the shed. I figure with a 3 inch lift and 31s it will look good. -
Comancheon33 Rebuild to return to the trails
comancheon33 replied to comancheon33's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Finally got some work this weekend to it. Replaced the front fenders, bolted down the box and got all the tailight bulbs going again. Still having gas gauge issues and I beleive that lays in the gauge. Just need to get my front nose back on it will start looking like a jeep again. This afternoon pulled my 86 parts ride in and got the right cab corner cut off. Hopefully I will be dropping it off at the body shop Wednesday or Thursday. After that I am gonna get the rockers cutout and rock rails will be getting welded in. -
Mu 2.5 4 speed with 3.55s and 235/75/15 won't get out of its own way. It will hold speed once you finally get it there though. Decent gas milage also ;) Thats why it is still in there.

Got a cooler for mine off a ford taurus for 5 bucks. I placed in front of the radiator and then used valvoline synpower power steering fluid. Solved my loss power steering while wheeling right away.

My red-headed stepchild
comancheon33 replied to Phoenix of Fury's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would leave the 2.5 and gear it down. I have a 4.0 and a 2.5 in different MJs. While the 4.0 is more powerful the 2.5 holds it own and gets good mileage. Don't forget to check out a TNT longarm also. HTH -
Plus trying to tell shop they did something to it or calling the BBB just makes you a whistle blower. Plus in shop I worked in it just gave us something to laugh at when the customer is standing there flappin their arms and yelling. It just kills me how some people think shops are just out there to screw people. Not sayin all are honest but the old saying of 1 customer a 1000 times rather 1000 customers 1 time holds in every business. The shop worked in had a good rep for being honest and fair. I still treat my customers in my shop the same. I will not tell you need something done to your car that another shop would not agree with or find the same problem.
-
I have a TNT on my truck and wouldn't think of installing any other brand. So what if you have a skid plate or belly pan once in a great while. It only take a few extra minutes. As far as bending the belly pan I wanna see pics. The belly pan and the rest of the kit is way over built.

I used to work in shop andI replaceda fuel pump in a chevy S10 blazer. I set it down off the hoist fired it up and drove from the shop down to a small park a block away. Parked in front of my bay door and left it running to make sure all was well. Ten minutes later we look out and it is streaming antifreeze out of the tank of the radiator. Customer was way upset but we did nothing to it. It was jut a case of bad timing as the side tank of the radiator already had a hairline crack in it and decided to give up while we had it. Customer called us everything but white men. It sucked but what do you do.
