Problem with Vacuum on the Heater & Deforster
War_Pony89 replied to Top C's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, never disconnected the ball zip tied it to lower fender mount. I do think there was one day it came lose and it hit my tire, but stopped right away and fixed it. I eyeballed the ball and line all the way to the intake manifold. Nothing abnormal. I think I'll have to look at it on the mcro level, since no crack or tears were obvious. If I spray some water along the line should that expose and leaks? -
Problem with Vacuum on the Heater & Deforster

Hi Joining in Late on this one. My vent only does Defrost after removing the bumper for painting I thought no big deal until yesterday when I back to far into a ditch turning around, only to realize I had no four wheel drive. So I think my vacuum has issues affecting both. checked for obvious crack signs or loose lines while flagging a tow. How is the best way to looks for cracks if they are small? Do you think I'm on the right track, both issues related or is it possible they are separate? -
Thank you all for the input, Leaks first. Going to tackle the rear window seal. hit the car wash and see how I do. Paint should be cured in a week or two.

I second that! had a chance at a 87, still think about it off and on over decade later.

Main issue is road and wind noise (Highway). I know my driver side door seal has about a 1/16 inch gap at the top. hoping a 97 door seal will fill the gap? Also my 4wheel drive selector plate was removed to fit aftermarket shiftier. I don't recall why, but when I went from a BA-10 to AX-15, the linkage would not work and ended up with a aftermarket piece. Do you know if the shifting floor plates for BA-10 and AX-15 are the same? I think they are, maybe just the factory linkage was different? I'm thinking I can cut the stock plate to fill in most the space. Is there any advantage to coating the interior with say liquid Bed liner before putting down the Dynamat or NOICO? I am undecided on what type of carpet backing. Prior water leaks rotted the floors, so not sure how much absorption I want inside. Leaks are just about fixed. last is rear window seal.

I have the link at work. forget the name. They were kind enough to send samples with different piles.
-
yes, need a bit more than carpet can afford. Phone calls and such driving on mud tires....I know there is a limit, but puttying best foot forward. I will check out Noico. Thanks

ugh, floor boards, need some work. patched and POR 15 finished. Then a few months of dirt and maybe some fuel injector spilled passenger side. Plan is to take seat out and clean. What should I use?
-
Huh, thought I was in Tech.... I don't know where I am anymore. I got samples from this one outfit and just need to call it in. Like $125 pre-cut and molded. Haven't started on the liner yet, but fix'n too. Sounds llike you might have some info?

Mic Check, anyone got their ears on in SW VA?
-
Man, put me on the spot, not finding the order info in my email, but I looked and this link looks like a good one. https://www.quadratec.com/p/key-parts/front-floor-pan-cherokee-xj Originally, I ordered through 4wheelparts, who bought from Keyparts. The pans I ended up with were for a CJ. So I hunted around and I believe I called Keyparts directly who had the exact one for the Comanche. I don't think the Cherokee's have the extra bracing in the floor...I think , but aside from that direct fit. They sell the bracing as well if the cancer got that far back if I recall right. This is the Keyparts link http://www.keypartsonline.com/cherokee-xj-mid-size/

Man I feel ya, Just had both my pan's patched. Act fast, you'll want to get it before it get into that floor brace. I moved to VA 7 yrs ago and my rust-less ride started becoming see through. They sell the direct fit factory pans. I found a local to moonlight on my rig and he did a bang up job on the seams, finishing in in POR 15 or something like that to seal any residual cancer areas.

Rubber engine bay shield
War_Pony89 replied to schardein's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just got my splash shield from Jim at DMT, holes line up perfectly to the old one. Fix'n to mount it Friday or Saturday. Felt naked without it, gone through more alternator changes in winter than I care to count. No more parking on hills when the alternator is crapping out, in case it won't start. 89 4.0L -
Good looking Rig 89 MJ, brought up a few questions, Where did you mount the vacuum sphere on passenger side. Second, did you have the factory skid plate? Curious to see how the combo looks.
-
I've been mulling over my options the last two days. One question I have is as Mini Beast mentioned the air dam should go with an after market bumper, what about the Skid Plate? From pictures, it seem like either there are not many skid plates out there or people take them off when applying aftermarket bumpers? I saw pics of the factory brush guard, pretty cool, but probably a holy grail piece to find? Then you need to tow hook bumper brackets to boot.
-
Thanks Mini Beast, I like that idea. was thinking how to keep the air dam with the aftermarket bumper, but not into silly. I've checked the web and not a lot of offerings so far for Push or BUll bars. Any suggestion from folks with that setup?
-
Thanks Derf, hitting up the local Pick n Saves now.
-
Hi 89 MJ, Appreciate the looking out, I'm in VA, not sure how feasible. What are you looking for out of them? Year? Like the work on your rig, wish'n I had more time
-
Thank for the 411 Derf, Dadgum that is a big beefy bar. I'm already in 650 and 8 weeks on the crusader, so I will commit. Though I did write them a nasty gram fro the fact the do not disclose on product description you have to cut. Is it difficult to find older fenders? I I'd like to keep period correct, salvage older fenders and cut those? Just thinking out side the box. Another question, do y'all run without the engine splash guard have any issues? Mine just tore, talking to guy in Detroit who's trying to make replicas. My Alternator is always going out, have a hard time imagining running without one. Be even worse I'd reckon?
