  2. Just to let everyone know, I made it safely. I am finally able to have a free minute to stop in quick. So far, things are going well, even though for the first few hours it felt like I was running a drug house and/or prostitution ring with the amount of people in and out of my room :rotf: .
  3. ^ Has no life. :fool:
  4. In my opinion, I wouldn't see why they couldn't be interchanged. As long as they're both the one piece design, and are of the same WMS to WMS. But then again, that's an uneducated guess. Well, I don't own the truck no more, but when I did run the VIN last, it showed as a standard '86 with the D35(which it has). So it may be possible special order; the build sheet would show for sure, but I never looked for it. Sorry for the hijack Jim.
  5. In 2007 I came real close to losing my battle as well, from a double pneumonia, so I know where you're coming from on that one. What kept me from losing it was hearing the doctors tell my mom that if I made it through the night, it would be a miracle, and hearing her break down right there. Even though I wasn't fully conscious, it hit me hard and caused me to fight through it. :clapping:
  6. ^ Has been here 3 years less than me and has almost double the amount of posts I have.
  7. You are correct. In 1986 the MJ Metric Tonne came with the AMC M20 rear end, higher load rated leafs and coils (with an extra 'overload' leaf in rear), and generally sat about 1-2" higher than non Metric Tonne 4wd MJ's. As for replacements, I wouldn't know. I still want to swear that the '86 I had is/was a Metric Tonne, but there's no M20 in the rear, even though it sits higher, and has a factory looking extra leaf in the rear with a factory looking front coils as well.
  8. 28 years old, and I have Cystic Fibrosis, osteoporosis, partially dislocated left kneecap, 4 discs in my lower back are less than 2mm thick, I have 3 prominently showing vertebrae in my lower neck, TMJ (clicking jaw), and CFRD (Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes). That's all just the main ones for now, I won't get into the rest of my health related troubles. I live in more pain everyday than most can imagine, but rarely if ever let it be known. I also have the  old Jeep bug too!

    Linux Mint?

Operating system for computers. Instead of having to buy a copy of Winblows, you can download and install any Linux Distro base and use it. It's freeware, so you're not losing anything out of pocket per se. It is a bit different and takes some getting used to, but I find it a LOT simpler and easier to use than Winblows, and since it's not all too commonly used, there is far less viruses out and about with using Linux. There is a lot of available options of different Distros for Linux, so that's where it gets tricky. Best bet is to talk to people that have used a certain Distro and base, and get their opinions on it, as well as pros and cons of it, then decide for yourself if it's right for you or not.
  10. Today's the day I go in, oh joy! I still have to pack all my clothes, snacks, etc. for my stay, but guess what I'm doing instead? That's right, I'm sitting on CC posting away. As of writing this, it is T minus 4 hours before my ride is here, and I'm nowhere near ready  .

    Linux Mint?

After I return from my hospital stay, I'll be dual booting both my desktop and new laptop with Fedora Core 11 and Winblows XP. I've heard nothing but good reports of it, so I had a friend burn me a DVD copy of it to try.
  12. Current: 1988 Pioneer LWB 2wd 2.5L AX-5 Past: 1986 X LWB 4wd 2.8L auto (now owned by jpdocdave) Other Jeep: 1988 Pioneer Olympic Edition XJ 4wd 4.0L BA-10/5
  13. At first I was wondering how you only brought home a -nche, until I actually looked and read. I'd say it was a good score, and a good thing that you didn't bring home the Coma :rotf: .
  14. ^ Must not realize I sold the MJ for the sole intentions of getting an XJ. :wavey:
  15. My very first car I ever officially owned. It was a '56 Caddilac that I used for demo derby when I was 14. When I got it, it was just a pile of parts and rust; when I got done with it, it was stuffed with a 4 bolt main Chevy 350 and lasted me 3 separate derbies. Thing was a beast of a pile of a beast, I liked it. :clapping:
  16. ^ Has an MJ most of us on here would kill for.
  17. Thanks to all so far. I have a couple things to do today and tomorrow, hence why I'm going in on the 2nd instead of sooner. Top priority of today is meeting with the new owner of my old MJ15 and transferring the title into his name. Tomorrow I have rent due at both my apartment and my storage unit. Also, yes it is Cystic Fibrosis, and the outlooks on it have been improving vastly in even just the past 5 years. Although I know full well my days are numbered, I've already outlived my doctor's expectancy by more than 10 years . Advances in medicines and technology are coming through every day and increasing overall health and life expectancy in C.F. patients, so that's always good news.
  18. By all means stick around! It doesn't matter that you only have an XJ now, as a lot of us have XJ's as well. Even I have an XJ now, and I thought it would never happen. So feel free to kick your feet up and hang around for a while, as long as you don't ditch us and buy an import :ack: .
  19. Break out the sawzall and find a piece of plexiglass! :rotf: Looks like it's got a lot of potential Pat, I like it.
  20. Well, as some of you may remember, back in Dec. I had to go into the hospital for complications due to my C.F.. Bad news is that in that time, I haven't gotten any better, and am scheduled to go back in on Feb. 2nd for anouther stay. I have no idea how long I'll be in there (I usually never do anyways), but I'll be venturing without a laptop again, so my responses on here may be delayed up to a day, but I will be checking in at least once a day regaurdless.
  21. If you have an '87 or newer MJ (I don't ever recall you mentioning what year you have), the best bet would be finding an XJ with a 4.0 and swap EVERYTHING over. This does include the ECU, wiring, motor, transmission, sensors, etc. Also, if you have a 2wd and want to do a 4wd conversion, a 4wd donor XJ would be a perfect opportunity to get that accomplished as well, as long you either took both axles out of the XJ, found an XJ with the same gear ratio as your MJ already has, or are willing to regear either the front or rear axles. Anouther thing worth noting, if you have a D35 rear end and find an XJ with either a D44 or a ChryCo 8.25", they are both worthwhile upgrades.
  22. As soon as someone can get the XJ measurements I'll send you a PM with my info Akula. I'm still confined to my apartment, unable to just run outside and get the measurements myself, so I'm unfortunately going to have to rely on others for this one.
  23. :agree: More often than not, it comes down to a vacuum issue with either the lines going into the HVAC unit itself, along the path of the dash to under the hood, or the vacuum canister itself. The canister is the little either football shaped or round ball located behind the passenger side of your front bumper. My best advice would be to check there first and report back. Also, PLEASE use punctuation in your posts. Having everything into one large sentence makes the whole thing very indiscernible to know for sure what it is you're saying or asking.
  24. He ran away to join the circus. He is now known as "Jake the monkey boy". :wavey:
  25. Durn, too bad it wasn't narrower than an MJ, as I'll need a narrower rear axle for Baby in the future. If it would've been narrower, I would have offered to buy it from you for a bit more than you paid.
