  1. In case this is useful in the future. cleaning PCM connector C (the one with CCD/SCI bus wiring) cleared it up. all 3 on hand clusters work just fine too, btw.
  2. I used to see more than my two and considering how close I live to this particular streetsign I've been wanting to manifest destiny upon for decades now that kinda bums me out, it's been a few years now since I've regularly seen any around other than mine.
  3. This one got me stumped. only saw "no bus" once, 3 different clusters have the same symptoms, oil gauge ALWAYS goes to first notch & stops when the gauges should wake up. Just gauge operation was intermittent for a bit but now it's done for. indicator lights and odometer work airbag light been intermittent for a while now so I'm wondering if possibly the clockspring is somehow involved? lost the "you forgot your key" chime during this most recent attempt to get gauges again with a pair of other clusters to try. I'm trying very hard not to do the TSB procedure on the 2nd cluster connector that says "Using wire cutters, remove the instrument cluster harness connector from the harness." because that same TSB tells me I should have a "no bus" indicator in the odometer when I lose gauges and I don't. (the cluster that gave me that message was a "possibly bad" one I tried a while back, not one of the current 3 that are all doing the exact same thing when I plug them into this Jeep) It's the hangup of the oil gauge when the gauges would otherwise wake up consistently happening to all 3 that really has me perplexed. cleaned all the connectors as advised in the TSB as well. (this one: https://www.tsbsearch.com/Jeep/08-15-99 ) Been a while since I've been on here, gotta update my signature. lol.
  4. https://photos.app.goo.gl/UUfEMDkDQNCZpc1M6 the video. my 5.9 is gutless old turd, lol.
  5. Ain't slowed down yet but I'm still alive and kickin' lol. and yes there will be PLENTY of videos.
  6. If ya do, and live near the bald eagle sanctuary. I'm entering my 5.9 ZJ in the Cleetus & Cars 2K19 $5000 burnout contest this saturday @ Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, FL. Come watch me make poor life decisions with my daily driver! (It's okay. I am overly experienced in taking this type of risk...lol) Blow 'em out or blow it up, one of those outcomes will happen this saturday saturday saturday! http://bradentonmotorsports.com/ ***EDIT*** https://photos.app.goo.gl/UUfEMDkDQNCZpc1M6 blew one out, lost power steering, of all things!
  7. it's still a little toed out so it kinda feels like 737 max right now, lol. and yea, JTEC PCM w/ that silly RE series trans with frequency valve driven governor simulation electronics.
  8. it's loading a PXE option rom and trying to boot from the network for some reason. likely scenario is hard drive acting up. depending on the drive it could be time to backup and replace, or if it's an older SSD it may just need a firmware update (crucial M4 SSDs are notorious for doing this, and a FW update actually fixes it!) if you can extrapolate what hard drive is in it (may even be worth removing the cover and looking by eye) and it is an SSD, look for a firmware update and apply it if available. also many laptops now have these small ribbon cables on the connector between the hard drive and the mainboard, these fail over time from chassis flex and heat cycling. (replacing the hard drive could still lead to this symptom returning in this case.) Good luck!
  9. seriously... an intermittent signal from a $17 coolant temp sensor can make this thing act like it's got a blown head gasket, complete with the faux hydrolock syndrome of coolant pushing into the cylinders while starting! apparently this thing can and DOES dump THAT MUCH FUEL into it on startup because the entire map is based on multipliers with baseline duty cycle set by the CTS... I'm absolutely amazed by this persnickity little MFer. 2 days ago it decided to say it was 170deg after sitting overnight and it acted way better on startup. The odd thing is while it was acting all stupid, the gauge was reading properly but every once and a while it would "ding" and "check gauges" would flash for just a brief moment... You'd think this sophisticated JTEC engine controller would buffer and average sensor inputs over a time window... NOPE!
  10. yeah, I think I'd have that engine/trans out and getting refreshed to drop in another chassis at this point... if it were me. but I have chassis' around waiting for powertrains.
  11. nagca.com and mallcrawlin.net are alright i didn't say they're GOOD... they're alright.

    LS4+TF904?

i guess it's semi homemade... random dude on a fiero forum is making and selling them. design is simple and can be cloned fairly easily.
  13. I'm happy to hear the US still appears that way on the outside, but national pride is surely on the decline over here too. People are losing faith in the opportunity of freedom and apparently want to be herded and provided for by a large oppressive government... or at least that's what people are voting for whether they realize it or not. They somehow believe in this concept of guaranteed affluence... boggles my mind.
  14. fugg it, lets keep hijacking... you wouldn't happen to know Lionel Wilson would you? he's an architect from Cape Town, does a lot of work here in Florida, my cousin just got married to him and they're in NZ on the honeymoon right now then they're heading "home" for a little bit until they come back stateside. super cool people!
  15. i also started collecting jeep models/RCs/diecast, etc... if you want "recovery" help from your addiction, you won't get it here. we're enablers. haahaha!
  16. those aren't exactly easy to come by stateside and they command a premium. my gas sippers are sv21 gen 1 toyota camrys my beater truck is a 94 dodge, nothin special. I had a stable of 5-cyl audis for a while (4000s, 80/90, a 91 200tQ and 2 coupe quattros) but those got me in trouble... something about grossly exceeding speed limits... lol. yet I still daily drive the 98 5.9 limited... I think my old GMC 3500 with a 454 got better mileage than this thing... but that skinny pedal just sounds so good when ya stomp it down. but I'm thinking about "trading out" the toyotas for either restomodded AMC Eagles or I have my eye on a s123t Mercedes diesel wagon that I might have to buy because it's too inexpensive to say no (this is how I usually acquire the new toys) German oil burners are also pretty cool.
  17. alfas are cool! I was responding to original post. i have a collection/addiction. looks like you do too, cheers! :)

    LS4+TF904?

the fiero guys made a bracket to swap the LS4 stock starter to pretty much anything and you make a 3"x3" square hole in your bellhousing where the bracket bolts on.
  19. uhhh... and the signature doesn't even list the non-jeep vehicles.
  20. that was me 2 weekends ago.... FILLED the tank... check valve in pump stuck shut.
  21. I don't recall doing anything special when I put XJ carpet in my 87 Chief except heating it up in the back with a heat gun so I could "mold" it to the back cab wall and throw that felt panel overtop of it. I think it looked better than original this way too. no cutting involved although I did cut up a second set of insulation pads to "flatten" the floor around the seat supports and the "uniframe rail" caps granted most of the floor sheetmetal on the driver's side also came from the donor XJ that the 4.0, aw4, 242, dashboard (swapped in A/C with the 4.0), seats, e-brake handle setup and center console. Originally was a 2.5L 5-speed 231 truck that got electrically and structurally ruined by a leaky clutch master cylinder.
  22. Did they fix the corrosion problem? I am literally rebuilding a harness I fixed with those years ago because they're all breaking up. The ones on heavier wires with more current draw seem to have survived better than the little guys but maybe that's because there's just more material that has to break down? Reflow does nothing useful unfortunately. I love the idea as they made it so much easier, and realistically I got over 15years out of the old ones so I guess i can't b*@ch too much, but I had to rip the dash harness completely out to fix it and extend single conductors that just rotted away inside these connectors... replaced it all with proper heatshrink and solder that still had some lead in it because I ain't doin' it again.
  23. could be the fuel pressure regulator leaking down as well or a leaky injector bleeding down. that'll defintely make for some hard starts... but I did just have to mess with the fairly new pump in my MJ yesterday. The check valve stuck closed and it would not deliver any fuel, I had to take the pump out, smack it on the ground and put it back in to unstick the valve. I thought it was chineseium but it was a Bosch i got cheap from rockauto about a year and a half ago.
  24. Ya know, I used to ride with a bunch of s10/blazer guys with 2.8s. all of them ran edelbrock 4bbl intakes and holley 390s + HEI distributor & comp 272 cam... and honestly... they did pretty good. definitely more stable off angle than my rochester 2se EVER was. that holley setup almost made them "grunty" like the 4banger (2.5 made more torque all day)
  25. Got some go-fast parts for the a904 auto in my 84 XJ. Was gonna build a gen2 3800 for it but I I have my eyes on an LS4 now.
