I did run a new wire, and found the problem along the way. I found a repair by the PO, if you call it that. Kinda surprised the 18ga section of wire he placed in the middle of the harness didn't catch fire. Oh, no sir, when I say I'm going to run a new wire......I do it right. I removed the connector from the relay terminal, new wire gets an OE connector at the relay terminal. I cut the harness open every so often to pull a new wire through the harness, or run the new wire in loom along side the harness, and label both ends. When someone goes behind me, they can easily see what's been done. Just retired from 25yrs+ in the automotive field. Basic mechanical, basic fab work, but the past 10yrs have been primarily doing install & upfitting. Other than I wasn't allowed to trim & fit wire, this is some of my work.

I've got knock off LEDs in me MJ and in my son's YJ. We didn't have factory DRLs, so I'll hook them up to a basic toggle under the dash, and to ignition. That will allow me to run the DRLs, or go dark when I want. Mine are kinda bright...... -
Replaced my faulty VSS, and noticed some more piss poor work the PO left me to sort out! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Side mirror swap?

I thought about the 97+ front end & door swap. One piece power windows! My wife will have a melt down if I start doing a bunch of stuff to the manche. I've already got my Rubi that is so far gone it sucks to drive daily. That's what the manche is for. Can you get away with only swapping the doors? There's a 97+ specific junk yard in the up state that can source anything I need. -

I've actually got a pair of $99 knock off LEDs from Amazon. They are DOT stamped, and have been going strong in my son's YJ for a year now. I just put the newer version in my MJ about a month ago. The issue we have with DOT compliance here local is the wording of the law. Some police officers are using it to suit their need for tickets. The officers here won't accept the stamped light, they want the letter of compliance from the manufacturer. Guess what you'll never get from a knock off lighting company, but Truck-Lite will supply upon request. I have a copy in the glove box of my Rubi, it's got the Gen 2 Truck-Lites. The law states the allowed wattage, and number of lights per intent. (No more than 4 headlamps, maximum low wattage of 65w, high of 85w.) The issue is in the conversion of wattage to lumens. There are many different conversion charts online, and the police use that. They also use a passage in the law that states it is unlawful to modify a vehicle from its original state. It doesn't matter that it's a replacement part, the LEDs were not OE. I stay out of those small towns! -
You, and the guy that cut me off turning in the Dr office this morning. Cut me off because he realized they had one space left in the parking lot, and if he gave me the right of way it was going to be mine! So I blocked him in......[emoji16]

1992 horn relay location?
GreasemonkeySC replied to GreasemonkeySC's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I gave it another try..... There was more feeling around than my back seat after prom, but I found it. So the relay was burnt out, and wires were cut behind the headlamps. OE horns still work. I can now get someone's attention to give them the finger! [emoji16] -
I was inspired to fix my horn. Now my MJ Jeep goes Beep Beep!

1992 horn relay location?

No wonder I can't find it. I gotta bad back, and barely make it to the fuse panel. Guess I'll wait on my son to get off work. -
Where in the world is it hiding? Alldata doesn't even show a location, I don't see it in the fuse panel, or PDC.

Windshield wiper speeds
GreasemonkeySC replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've got the intermittent\delay option OE. All speeds work, but LOW is like waiting on the end of time, and HIGH isn't much faster as it feels like the rains will stop before the blade passes again! I will give it the additional ground next time I have the cowl off. I know mine was repaired after an accident, so no telling what kind of shotty repairs are done. I've found all sorts of questionable wiring so far. It could very well be the wiring causing the low speed. -
Rear Window Replacement

I bet that's what's missing. The PO had butchered the old seal. Now to find a seal.... -
Rear Window Replacement
GreasemonkeySC replied to Manche757's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
While on the subject of rear glass & seals..... I had a 4 panel installed a few weeks ago. I love it, but I did notice that the aluminum frame does not seat against the body. It's leaving an 1\8" to 1\4" gap. No leaking issues, and it's installed properly, but it just doesn't seat any tighter than that. Solutions? A side note. The glass was flat in mine, but the installer that removed it told me that it was the wrong glass for the truck. Something that fit, but was glued in, not intake with the seal. They had cut the backing off of the old seal, and glued it in around the glass to make it look like it was installed correctly. -

Makes you wonder what engineer caught his wife with a mechanic? I swear they do things like that just to give us a hard time! -
I have to fix mine! I like to be sure I have someone's attention when I give them the finger! [emoji16][emoji867]

Will a 97+ XJ side mirror for a 92 MJ door? I saw a set of motors on a parts XJ that looked bigger than my mirrors. I tow a good bit, and would love the larger mirror.

I'm with you! My 92 MJ wipers have Delay, Low, and High. Translated to Delay, Really Slow, and Slow. I would give anything to get the wiper speeds of my TJ in the MJ. -

I actually prefer PILOT brand LED bulb upgrades. They have done very well for me, and the prices aren't so bad. Average $15pr for 3057, 3157 likewise. Come in Red, Amber, or White. -
I usually refer to such products as "Snake Oil". I've not heard of it before so I'll give due diligence and research. I generally do not use chemical flush additives. I have made exceptions.... I know I'm old school, but I was taught that if it's abrasive or corrosive enough to clear away rust & corrosion, it's not likely doing anything good for your gaskets & seals!

[emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35] Replaced the coolant temp sender for the gauge. It now reads properly. Replace the fan relay, and checked the fan operation again. Then replaced the electric fan. The fan still stalls, and randomly will run a cycle. I replaced the coolant temp sensor with a spare to rule it out. Same issue with the fan. I've also checked the plug terminals. I know this truck was wrecked in the front, so I imagine the problem is going to be some crazy issue from a crappy repair by the PO. Any ideas?
