  1. after reading reviews of that place I went elsewhere! but ordered up a 23.5 gal tank, straps, filler the whole 9.
  2. Thanks for the quick reply. That link I posted seems like the best deal for me. $147 shipped and its galvanized.
  3. I just want to be sure before I pull the trigger on a new tank.... I have an 88, which should have the shorter 18gal tank. I figure if I'm doing a new tank I might as well get the 23.5 gal. Its a longbed truck, so this should bolt up fine? And I should be able to re-use my original pump and all? I read on a thread here that the front 2 straps are the same, but on the longer tank there is a third strap to the rear. I'm probably going to order new straps as well and just do it once and be done! Thoughts and opinions. Thanks! here's the tank I was looking at. Unless you guys know a cheaper outlet besides ebay...I want a place I can call and verify the item is in stock so I don't get the back-order run around http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/detai ... 70104.html
  4. I'm sick that I sold my MJ last year now I want another in the worst way. Looking for a descent shape MJ or older XJ. Would prefer 5speed but would consider anything. Prefer a 4.0 but again would consider anything. Located in south east PA but willing to travel a reasonable distance for the right one. Not looking for something showroom mint and expensive, just a clean second part time daily driver! Show me what you got!
  5. You can get new ones just get them for a 3 " lift or somethi g similar. You can get longer coils instead of spacers too but chances are is they are gonna give you more height than you already have
  6. I don't think it had much power to begin with :D HEHE sorry couldnt resist. But ya, my little 4 banger runs like a top at 200K. It would really take something drastic to kill the little sucker.
  7. All I can add to this thread is thank god I live in the country! I could make my backyard a junkyard full of jeeps and my neighbors would bring out the guns to defend them if any fowl play ever went down!
  8. I got a set. And I'm in PA. $75
  9. my thoughts exactly. That draglink doesnt look too happy at that angle haha!
  10. I'd snag it up, then go to the JY and get a handful of used sensors and start swappin away with it!
  11. Backroads

    Worth $300?

who in the heck swaps out an axle when they go wheeling??!? :hmm: I'd definately go look at it.
  12. On the note of 'other' replacements. I didnt do any real comparisons but I saw an older dodge pickup (smaller one, maybe an old dakota?) that had tail lights that looked very similar to the MJ.
  13. Most auto parts stores should have all the components you would need. THe only thing I see as an issue (and maybe thats what you meant ^) would be backing plates.
  14. I was waiting for the story to end with 'then later that night when I got home, a police car was waiting in my driveway' lol! Similar incident happened to my wife the other day.... She was driving to the grocery store to get some last minute mothers day dinner supplies. Pulls in, parks, goes in for groceries....comes back out to see 2 cop car sitting here and thinks to herself 'ooohh someones in trouble :D ' little did she know it was her!!! They claimed some woman driving a red GMC, said my wife 'hit them at the stop sign then fled the scene' dumbfounded by this, (my wife knows cars, thanks to me) says she wasnt following a red GMC.....moments later the accuser shows up in a red jeep liberty with a tire on the back (of which she then tells the officer she recogized) Long ridiculous story short, this lady, with not a lick of damage to anything, and even if there WAS, it would be to my wifes car as her plastic grill met the tire  claimed my wife 'bumped' her at the stop, then fled the scene (to go grocery shopping double :wall: ) and was ready to press charges! On top of all that the cop was treating my wife like shes a total criminal, claiming hes gonna take her to jail for lying about the GMC thing. In the end, the cops asked the lady if she wanted to press charges, and they would go into the grocery store and get the cameras to watch her illegedly chasing my wife around the parking lot....which never happened. And she then gave up on the bogus story. The last words the cop said to my wife was 'next time don't fu*&*!@ ever lie to me again. and let her go... so everyone...apparently make sure your car is 100% in mint condition because apparently any previously existing scratches or dents could possibly hold you accountable in the future.
  15. Probably a good thing the wifey isnt home cos I bet the smell of stripper and bedliner in the house is making it pretty easy to sleep at night! But on top of that, props on building an MJ inside ur house
  16. you can try by takin your front shaft out. if it stops then either the U joints are goin out, OR your driveshaft angle isnt correct. Maybe measure you pinion angle while your under there just so you know. Its worth a shot. I ended up right where you are and did the whole driveshaft rebuild first, just to find out it was my pinion angle all along.
  17. Good god that thing is a beast! Got any pics of the front suspension/steering setup.
  18. I can't wait to get a fresh coat of paint on it! Right now its part primer and part previous owner, runny spray paint job!
  19. new shoes...i had to take them off already because they have NO wheel weights and were scary wobbly ravines with 31 micky thompsons
  20. Got a new update! I've pretty much just been driving the comanche lately, which was the plan! Its running great for what it is and I've been collecting parts Went searching for tractor parts on sunday (which i did find btw) and also scored a grand slam that day as well hehe First off, this little piece of equipment Image Not Found MJ 44, with 3.55, just what the doc ordered. I havent cracked it open yet, but how great if it had an lsd or something  Image Not Found I passed on an 'almost' mint tailgate a few weeks back because no one would talk to me at that yard....glad I held out, the paint is faded and the latch is rusty, but otherwise, as mint as its gonna get Image Not Found and got this guy to match the rest of my bediner, and keep the tailgate as pretty as it is. Image Not Found got these from my brother, and I have the 4.5" coils , and soon some LCAS .... Image Not Found Its got a good rake going now, the rear springs do however flatten out pretty easy, so I MIGHT add a slightly longer shackle in the end to keep my slight rake, but well see!
  21. Mine was kind of like that as well. It was a vatozone china junk one. I just put a bead of RTV on both sides of it and about 2k miles later, hasn't let out a drip.
  22. Reason #12123453 why I hate control arms and 'links' setup.....I always just bolt up the control arms first, then wrastle with the springs Its damn near impossible to fight the down force of the springs to get your axle or pinion point up enough to get the uppers in, or vise versa for the lowers. After renting a compressor who knows how many times I finally kept one, and just disconnect all the steering components if needed to get massive droop from the axle to pop longer springs in. Keep at it, it is possible, once its all said and done get under there with an angle finder and figure out your driveline angles and caster. Then start all over again
  23. I like the I4...duno why haha Looks like you got a newish rad and a lot of newer hoses under the hood. Thats good stuff!
  24. I've elimated mine VIA threads on this forum using the stock brake distribution valve for the MJ (prob valve) and even with upgrading to a WJ master cylinder and booster I have 0 braking problems. No lockups or anything sketchy like that. Brakes work perfectly without that valve. I'm not towing any large loads though, but I wouldnt hesitate to if my little 2.5 was up to the task :dunno:
  25. On my 86 its actually attatched to the back of the pedal where it connects to the arm on the master cylinder. There is a slightly oblong 0 hole in the linkage, the switch bolts through that hole where the pedal connects and as you depress the pedal, it clicks the switch on and off. Yours should be the same unless it was changed out. Its a pretty finicky design and if anyones messed with it...extremely easy to screw it up and not have it work. THe only real fix would be to put a later style switch in there that activated when the pedal is pushed in further and hits a switch mounted to the firewall beneath the pedal.
