  1. Not much of an update but made a keychain for Wendy. I wouldn't making more if people are interested
  2. Thanks for the info. will look into it
  3. Hey guys I'm looking for a dana 44 out of an mj, 8.25 out of an xj, or an 8.8 out of a ranger or explorer. Mainly looking for a rear axle thats ready to go into the back of an mj. I know some of you have done axle swaps and may have something laying around. Mainly looking in the South Florida region (from Orlando south) but maybe we can work something out with shipping Thanks
  4. Yeah the xj has a 242 case and that is going in the Comanche as well. So the front axle is the non disconnect version?
  5. Today was definetly interesting. I was able score a used set of Nitto terra grapplers. 305/70/17, they will do just fine for now and save me from having to dish out $800 for tires, I am going to try my hand at regrooving the tires. The best is that I got them for FREE!! A little Size comparison next to the Comanche as it sits (the royal blue is definitely growing on me)
  6. I am really digging that speaker box. Makes me want to do something similar. I would like to have mine behind the seats as well
  7. Dang wish my interior looked like that
  8. I don't know how put the d30 I have is a high pinion non vacuum ( it doesn't have the disconnect on the passenger side axle tube) out of an 88 Cherokee wouldn't be the same as all the other xj front axles?
  9. ust read through your whole thread. I like the idea of building up the motor. How did the engine perform? Did you manage to keep the tbi? Was there a way you were able to amp up the fuel delivery?
  10. With some down time today when I got home I made a handle wrap for Wendy out of camo 550 paracord.... and contemplated the final color of the build when done, thoughts on the royal blue?
  11. This Is an interesting conversion, I want to see the finished product
  12. Going to run the rusty's offroad mj led bracket kit for rear tail lights, still have to figure the turning signals and reverse light though
  13. Definitely interested
  14. Sorry there hasnt really been any update to the build thread but nothing has really happened. I should have the money next week to get the ax15 transmission and clutch kit. then its the interior that gets some love after the transmission, then lift kit, gears, wheels and tires and paint. deciding between patriot blue or royal blue or green
  15. I think there is a few companies that make 5.13 gears for the d30. A few guys over on pirate have been running 5.13 gears locked and haven't had an issue.
  16. I don't think stroking a 2.5 would do much good. You would get more bang for the buck with a supercharger. Check out mnkyboy's build thread if you haven't already. He's done some nice work with his. http://comancheclub.com/topic/16226-mnkyboys-89-comanche-project/page-28 I checked out his thread and that supercharger set up is crazy haha. I would first have to swap my tbi to mpi before I can think about supercharging my motor. That's why I was thinking of stroking it, I know its beating a dead horse  now my I'm considering boost lol I was planning on going with 5.13 gears with a 5sp and 35s. I was going to go 4.88s but I was afraid they would not be enough
  17. Hinge pins? like the quick release door pins?
  18. Does anyone know anything about stroker kits for the 2.5l? I have done some research and this company called 505 performance
  19. Oh that's awesome any year liberty? or a specific range? And yes an electric fan is definitely going to be a nice upgrade as well
  20. Thanks for the info guys. I wanted a second opinion about the motor, if it would have been a cheap I probably would have considered the swap. The plan is to keep the 2.5 I going to stay 4cly. May try to find the parts to swap to mpi. But parts for sure getting An intertia ring Regearing the axles Probably getting a cam and boring the 2.5 And new wires, distributor etc
  21. Hey people, As some of you way know of my build thread "Wendy". Well I have a 1988 Comanche with a 2.5l inline 4 (tbi) and a 1988 Cherokee with a renix 4.0l/aw4/np242 drivetrain. I tried to start the Cherokee but it was just cranking (not turning over) sounded like it had a rod knock and some smoke was coming out of the dipstick https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keTuB2oHwsY (wasn't sure how to make the video thumbnail appear) But I'm not 100% sure what it is. It sounds like knocking. Because of this, was going to keep the 2.5l in the Comanche, and just make the best of it. My real question is, would I be able to "fix" the 4.0l for around or less than $700? Because if it is more than that I might as well swap in an ax5 behind the 2.5 and just save for the time being
  22. Of course it can be done. If you want to go 97+ I would just go all out (if you piece it together here and there, you'll wish you had just done it all at once). If you find a 97+ donor XJ, it will have all the parts for your 4wd swap and the 97+ swap for a fraction of the cost of doing it individually. There are some good threads on 4wd swaps and for partial and full 97+ swaps, you should check out Alexia's 97+ build for sure (it's the best documented one ever). I have a 97+ swap thread as well you could check out. As for the atv you traded, you'll never miss it once your Jeeps are on the road and trails. If you were close I'd be over with a case of beer and pre-greased hands. Your off to a good start! Hopefully I won't miss my atv. I just really want to finish my Comanche hahaSorry for the hijack of your thread Swampy... Maybe we can bounce ideas off each other through these builds?[emoji3] Sent from my SM-J727P using Tapatalk BTW, we'll be down your way in a couple of weeks.Actually in KeyLargo, FL. for vacation... Sent from my SM-J727P using Tapatalk Its all good. No worries. We can definitely bounce ideas around

  24. Haha you're from Miami too? Small world. and Yes it was being sold by 4x4rebels. I traded my atv for both the Comanche and the Cherokee. It was a bad move on my part (I miss my atv lol), I'm stuck with the jeeps now and I'm going to try and make the best of what I got. Also aside from that how do you like your 2.5 offroad? I think we have the same engine and I am 50/50 between keeping it or swapping it out If your just off-roading on stock gears it feels like you'll need more grunt to get through the thick stuff... I've recently just regeared to 4.88s and lockers but haven't been off-road yet, I'm sure it'll be fun with that little bit extra pep in the axles I was planning going to go 5.13s and lockers as well. Do you DD your manche, because that's the plan with me. Most people say that you'll want to shoot yourself if you dd the 2.5.
  25. No progress on removing the bench because of one darn stripped 13mm nut. I have to fihure out a way to get it out. Also upon further inspection I do not think I am supposed to be able to see grass from inside the cab of Wendy
