  1. I have yet to see a road worthy used MT tire, there either wore out junk ! Or There good tires that by the time you buy them ship them and mount them ya may as well bought new ones... But anywho, 92% of tires I have seen on eBay or Craigs list are of such a tame tread I'd be scared to use them as trailer tires ! I don't do street tires regular old generic road tread is of no interest to me. Mike
  2. Most everything I own at one time was daily driven on biasply tires with out any issues... I drive 2 blocks round trip to work, the bank is 2 mile round trip and the geociery store is only 1 block ruinf trip. If go 7,500 miles a year I'd be impressed ! Now that being said I looked at many radials I can't match the aggressive tread for the price. If I wanted to put $1000 set of tires on it I could have aggressive radials, that's just the tires... For $800 or less I can have either of the above tire bought shipped mounted n balenced ! Them tires will last me a few years. Mike
  3. Not sure which size tires i should go with, G78-15's 28.5" tall or 7.00-15's 30" tall. G78-15: http://www.universaltire.com/truck-and- ... axion.html 7.00-15: http://www.universaltire.com/truck-and- ... axion.html I'm going to go with one of the 2 tires for sure as i love the tread design but i am unsure of which size would fit best . . . Mike
  4. :rotfl2: :rotf:  Mike
  5. Good to know that people do know what is going and why  Mike
  6. a SWR of 3 is really bad, you need to get that Standing Wave ratio down a lot. I'm very impressed you know about SWR  Lot's of guys just toss them whips on and think that's it, they have no idea whip's need to be tuned. 62' GMC 4500 running twin K40's: after fighting the pair for a while I tuned each whip separately then I linked them back in tandum install my Co-phase cable and did a final tune i got them to hold at 1.1-1.3 SWR best i could get most shops shoot for 1.5 or less i normally can pull a .9-1.1 tune's on single whip's running duel's is more tricky . . . I'm pushing them with a Cobra 148 with weather radio channels. Good luck Mike
  7. <- that suck's my K2500 gets 19cty-21hwy mpg empty & 13cty-17hwy mpg loaded . . . I had the mechanical's inspected "engines sound compression is great no blow by-transmission was sound no unusual slop or play no howling gears - rear end is nice n tight no extra play or howling as well" was my report back. I could have gotten hosed, sure but howling gears ? I don't hear any howling or noise from either gear box, play n slop its a manual i'm shifting the gears every day I personally noticed nothing out of the ordinary actually seems a bit snug to me like a few new truck's i test drove, as for the engine i hear no tick's no rattles i ran it a while pulled the oil cap off while running no smoke no air flow. only thing i might have gotten hosed on is the compression test but with the way it fires right off at -15*F i highly doubt it it ran 20w-50 the first part of winter i now have 10w-40 in it now either oil spun right over n fired up in the negatives . . . Any issue this truck had would have to be electronic if any, plus i said " it feels like 9-11mpg " in my first response ... the exhaust system shot n falling apart leaks every where which is now replaced so it could be better i haven't really checked it non to closely, at a quick estimated guess that is what i came up with . . . Mike
  8. I have driven truck's like his for 7-9 months maybe a year then crushed them, I even was planning on doing this with my MJ drive it a while year or 2 maybe 3 then junk it. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: But it runs to nice and is in a lot lot better shape i got rusty doors and dented fender's, a few holes above the driver side rear wheel well. . . :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: I been thinking "well 2 doors 2 fenders 1 box side repair and coat of paint it'll like new" -" frames solid floor is new and Protect o wrap sealed "-" ya Just did a bunch of work to it all new brakes 2 calipers 2 wheel cylinders all new lines shoes and pads new master cylinder and a complete exhaust system starter battery cables sounds like a lot of new parts for a short term beater truck"-"you had the mechanical's inspected engines sound compression is great no blow by-transmission was sound no unusual slop or play no howling gears - rear end is nice n tight no extra play or howling as well" yes i really had this conversation with my self  :???: Fix it n keep it :???: was my conclusion :???: Mike
  9. Must be nice. . .20+MPG :fs1: From the I-6, i'm getting 9-11mpg from the I-4 stock factory setup, tho i just replaced the exhaust maybe the numbers will improve  :dunno: Mike
  10. My MJ is a 2.5L 2WD 4spd manual with 3.73's i just figured out ! and it feels like its only getting 9-11mpg ! it don't bother me any tho, it Starts, runs, drives, steers and stops. a concept my K2500 6.5 diesel is totally confused by :rotf: but when the 6.5er chose to run it got 19-21mpg, Tho no pulling power but great mileage for a K2500 :wall: The MJ has made a fine runabout replacement for the 6.5er, can't wait to build my J-truck towing Rig replacement for the 6.5er . . .then i'll toss a tranny in it another new starter and send that diesel on its way . . . right after the $5,500 load is paid off  :fs1: paying for a shiny broken truck while driving an ugly beater truck that's paid for :wall: gotta love the American dream eh ? :rotfl2: :rotf:  :D Mike
  11. Cool, then from now on i'll make my Jeep order's for the 10-40PP during the winter and run either the SAE60 or the 20-50PP in the summer time. . . Mike
  12. Most only scrape them if there smashed up or badly rotten or 30+ years old, you ever seen a worn out MACK ? :rotfl2: they almost never do . . . Mike
  13. So is it going to hurt my 2.5L ? . . . should just back to the XL10-40 ? Mike
  14. Well i think i'm going to go with some Biasply tires instead of the radial's i like the look of them better. . . Mike
  15. Wait til my Comanche is all fixed up n painted, it'll be getting a nice 3.9L I-4 Cummins diesel i think. Mike
  16. Live & Learn, I guess  . . . Mike
  17. Its got 2 set of matched wheel's, just only 2 of each happen to be on it at this time, i wasn't really going for pretty as i was going for functional/Operational this truck was awoke from a year long slumber, and tossed on to the road in 24 hours, hopping it still had some life left to live . . . the shocking part is now after about 3 week's of operation the truck is showing sign's of being far from worn out as i once thought . . . strong truck  but ugly truck :fs1: i'll have to fix the ugly Mike
  18. Nothing to special about it, just an old obsolete Mack truck. 1959 Mack B61T Heavy hauler: END+T 711 I-6, 2 stick 15spd-OD trans, 6.38 gears, and 12.00-24 tires. 120,000LB GVWR. The Jeep, its a real heap:  Like i said it's a hideous creature :wall: Mike
  19. After seeing that there ain't no way in  I'm posting up my Jeep heap now. . .Embarrassing ugly rusty :fs1: . . . Mike
  20. I think this engine is lounger then the 189,000 miles the ODO show's, engine is in sound strong mechanical condition ! i ran 2 engine flushes back to back and i got some dirty oil on the first and just a slightly tinted oil on the second, so filled it up with 4qt's of 10w-40 AMSOIL and 1 container of Engine restorer 8 cylinder formula, i'll be checking the oil rather offten for a while to monitor oil level and dirtiness and see how it holds up. Mike
  21. for 4-6 quarts it cost me in shipping for the same amount of shipping in get a 2.5 gallon's so when i order 2.5 gallons or more or 12qt case or more my dealer license saves me big time but 4-6 bottles of oil it's cheaper to go to the high priced shop as after shipping i'd end up aying $1/qt more. . . Volume saves . . . i wanted to make sure the old MJ was going to like the high end synthetic oil before i buy a mass volume of it. . . Mike
  22. I been running wix filter's when i have to run into bumper to bumper for my AMSOIL, other was when i have the time i like to order the AMSOIL with the AMSOIL filter's using my dealer's tag i save money, but some time over the counter is quickier making the higher price still more cost effective. . . Mike
  23. i finally got my flush n fill oil system is nice and clean and filled with AMSOIL 10w-40 premium protection high zinc formula, which i hadn't noticed the HIGH ZINC FORMULA until i was tossing out the bottle's, i normally use the 10w-40XL and the 15w-50 racing oil's, this time i tried the premium protection oil bit more money then the XL but cheaper then the racing oil . . . So as long as this ZINC won't hurt my engine i'm going to switch over to this high zinc formulated blend 10-40 in winter n 20-50 in summer. . . EDIT: the 15w-50 has the HIGH ZINC formulation, but the standard 10w-40XL dose not. Mike
  24. You have your bed off, how dose one go about removing the bed on these trucks ? Mike
