Right now i have a n AX-4, Dana-35,3.73's and 225's = 65mph@3,000rpm in 4th-DD. I'd like to run an AX-5, AMC-20, 4.44's and 235's = 70mph@3,000rpm in 5th-OD. Some have suggested i go to 4.56's other say 4.10's well with the AMC-20 axle i can get a 4.44 gear set and be right between the suggested gear sets :clapping: thought's ? . . . I can get the solid 1 piece axle for the AMC-20 fixing its issue with the axles and the A20 has to be a good bit better then the D35 ? thought's ? Mike

what year F-150 ? . . . I had a 1995 F-150XLT with the 5.8L V-8, and when i put my ATV in the bed it too squatted down and looked all saggy, i figured with the big bad 5.8er it would have been a hauling brute, but the rear springs in no way kept up with what the engine would tow, and it even crappy 3.55 highway gears with a 4spd automatic . . . I found out later that truck was offered with an optional 3.89 gearing & HD spring pack's i wished i had that version . . . I smoked 3 transmissions in 155K miles so i retired it . . . I wished i knew then what i did now a gear n spring swap i could of had a beast :fs1: Mike

1.The 95' K2500 has a 6.5 Diesel so my towing power is the same as or less then that of the MJ's. The K2500 is also junk ! its broke 22 item in 15 break downs over an 18 month period it is currently in need of another $220 starter and $1,500+ transmission. is a 95' with 139K miles it's toast shame too body is flawless . . . After financing and Repairs i'll have $15,000 into a $3,000 truck that i still owe $5,000 on . . . It's just waiting to be paid off then get a lean release then it'll be recycled  can't wait :clapping: I'm not fixing it again  2. brake front to back all new brand new, that bias valve unit was bypassed when i bought it and it was never replace when i did the brakes . . . anything offered in a optional "BETTER" product was gotten in the higher grade . . . New calipers, new wheel cylinders, new stainless lines, new master cylinder, New drilled n slotted rotors, with the fancy pad's, New drums, and New shoes. first few miles i busted my lip open cause the brakes grabbed so well, have about 800-1,200lbs in the bed have all winter truck sadly to say the MJ will out stop my K2500 it will out accelerate my K2500 its proven 25X more reliable then my K2500 the Comanche will be around many more years while the K2500 has a 1 way ticket to the Crusher . . . :grrrr:  NEVER ! EVER ! ! NEVER ! ! ! :grrrr:   Buy a GM-Diesel  :hmm: My second failed GM product and it was also my second Diesel GM product :hmm: Mike That K2500 sounds like a lemon :rotf: You do realize AMC = All Makes Compatible and there is a ton of GM parts on your MJ right? :hmm: I love GM, I hate GM-Diesel's last time i checked my MJ was Gasser or at least its been running perfectly on 93oct fuel :hmm: where ya getting i dislike GM ? . . . I just dislike there diesel's . . . Its not really lemon ask around the 6.2/6.5's are the laughing stock of the diesel world . . . Mike

:wall: why dose every body's MJ sit so HIGH ? :fs1: . . . Mike
-
 $325 :fs1: . . . :rotfl2: Not happening on my income  Mike
-
Ya had stuffed right full . . . I'm prolly going to skip ATVing this year, I just don't see it happening i have started the revival of the old AMX and so i would prefer to toss the fund-age at that at this time . . . I could really use a hitch for my truck tho . . . I think your truck's sit higher , my truck looks to low for a receiver hitching system, i think i'll have to build my own rear bumper and build the receiver into it . . . Mike
-
From what i saw the only place to get a hitch is U-haul and its limited in quantity and its $210 :fs1: that's simply way to much money, for $100 i can build a class 7 Receiver hitch . . . Most i'll pay for a class 3 is $120-$125 . . . I may just have to build it if i want it ! Mike

55MPH :rotfl2: :rotf: :hmm: :rotfl2: :rotf: :dunno: I'm going to be holding the atving group back only being able to run 65mph there is not way i'll be able to go if i can only go 55mph . . . i may as well take 50 year old truck . . . Mike
-
My rear bumper is shot, I was shooting for a reciever hitch system ! But they all seem to be front mount units ! Do they offer a rear mount ? Or Can the front mount be converted to a rear mount ? MIke

My concern it taking a 22 year old engine with 190,000 miles and dropping the gearing on it and reving it up . . . My truck doesn't see much more then 30mph and doesn't travel more then about 2 blocks, Now slamming it into a 350 mile road trip at 3,200rpm under a load i don't think would end well for me . . . I'm more concerned with being 175 miles from home with a loaded 22 year old truck with 190K+ miles . . . EDIT: Re-gearing would be cheaper then a tranny in the diesel . . . i'm just not so sure it's needed . . . Mike
-
Now with 3.73's/AX-4 it'll roll along 65mph@3,000rpm with 4.10's it be like 65mph@3200rpm . . . with 225's . . . Now if ya went to 235's maybe it would bring the rev's down to about where you started so ya didn't gain much maybe a slightly quicker launch but once rolling it'll slowly become the same . . . according to the gear tire/ comparo calc . . Hitch: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-92-Je ... ccessories what ya think ? Mike
-
4:10 gearing would be nice but i think the highway rev's would get a bit to high . . . As is 65mph is about all it want's to do its humming about 3,000rpm . . . with 225's . . . Mike
-
So you don't think my Rig will tow an ATV up north n back ? . . . Mike
-
don't forget once you got the suspension to hold it, then you'll need the gearing to pull it, then you'll also need the brakes to stop it . . . Mike
-
it's got 3.73 Gears & 4spd manual trans i would imagine my truck could tow some weight, not so sure i'd tow another vehicle with it . . . but it should tow Motor bikes, ATV's, and lawn tractors . . . i prolly have 1,100-1,300lbs above the factory empty weight on board my truck now it goes just fine . . . topper, 6 tire's with rims, chop saw, 5 bag's of ice melter ect . . . I bet with 4.56's you could get it to tow car's don't know as i would leave the city limits with it tho . . . but it prolly would handle 4,500lbs of rolling weight . . . i just wouldn't figured it would go very fast nor any great distance . . . Mike
-
Well i didn't figure it would tow another truck or car around . . . Mike
-
will it tow or haul this ? : 2007 Honda Rubicon TRX500: I'd like to be able to tow or haul that machine along with clothes tent cooler ect . . . 350 miles round trip . . . Mike

I have a 1988 MJ: AMC 2.5L I-4 TBI, AX-4 4spd manual, 3.73 gears. Any idea on what this will tow ? . . . there is no data filled in so i don't have any info labeled on the Truck. what have you towed for a payload weight ? Mike
-
how can that be . . . Thats goofy . . . 88' 2.5L TBI

Well if that's the case, then i'll just let it leak till it's bad enough to be fixed, so far it hasn't leaked enough to effect the oil level . . . Mike -

Not that i could easily see :dunno: I don't know for sure tho . . . I bought the truck from a guy who parked due to brake failure it sat 5-7 years, bought it did the brake job drove racked up about 30-50miles parked it another year now i have about 900 miles on it driven daily . . . Dried out Valve cover gasket ? Mike -

Dip stick is all the way in just checked it had it running a few couple min's about 3min i saw nothing spraying . . . engine seems some what dry for it age and mileage, but the thing doesn't have any blow by . . . none at all I ran it with the oil cap off a few times on and off no smoke no air flow nothing . . . Seems to be very healthy Mechanically . . . But it has sat like 5-7years before i got it . . . I'm guessing dried out gasket or seal . . . Mike -
I noticed the last few times a drove MJ any distance i could smell hot oil every now and then, but i could never track it down. The other day while checking my i noticed my starter was fairly oil coated its about a month old, then i snooped a little more and noticed the new exhaust had some oil dripped on it as well . . . yet my oil level is still full :fs1: where could be leaking from :???: Mike
