  1. Say you might want to find a Jeep J/10 or J/20 nice strong solid full framed truck designed to with stand rust salt snow rain water ect for 30+ years n 300,000+ miles . . . . . The Mj wasn't the strongest truck when it was fresh steal with o miles now 20+ years n 200,000+ miles later is even less structurally sound, its simply not a repair to be taken lightly on any truck period, now considering the truck your repairing you should want to do a way above average repair . . . I have seen these truck in the shape of yours where guy's have simply lag bolted the bed to the cab and drove it another 10 year's, and others guys tried to patch up and that last a few week's and end up in the ditch a twisted pile of metal. . . :wall: I'd really hate to see you end up 6ft under :fs1: because it let loose :headpop: going down the road :shake: Mike

  5. :wall: I got a lot of iron's in the fire :fs1: The Comanche itself also has a ways to go before it'll get the larger tires, the once it has them i will see how it performs with the stock gear's . . . which will then give me time to figure out about how it'll be used then i can adjust the gearing from there . . . Alternator is flaky being flaky and the shock's including the steering stabilizer are long gone shot :( Mike
  6. Idling: Reved up: Video doesn't do it justice but it was the best i could do. . .scratch another off the list for the Comanche . . . Mike

  8. gotta ask before we get too deep into this. Do you know how to set up gears? :dunno: sorta but not really . . . Tis why i have a Gear man ;) works barter . . . He's an off road enthusiast I'm all about aggressive tires, i can find him more aggressive tire for less money its win win situation Mike

  11. Exhaust: ah yea ! . . . 2" pipe, through flow turbo muffler all new pipe . . . exhaust manifold leaks missing a bolt in cylinder #4 ! that exhaust sound's sweet ! nice n mellow when idling or driving and i little bit of nice rap to it when you romp on it. . . it was well worth the $240+$20 tip = $260 & 1yr warranty ! GEARS: So all of the gears 4.11, 4.56, 4.88 all the same price... 4.11's n 4spd ? or 4.56's n 5spd ? Mike
  12. 2008 Subaru Impreza...the daily driver, owner of my paycheck, already 80k miles, and a mistake (taking offers.?.) Funny i feel the same way about 1995 GMC K2500 :fs1: . . . The trouble is the offer's aren't matching what the loan balance is :wall:  The Comanche is now the daily driver  . anywho, a donation's section would outstanding. . . Mike

  14. My Jeep goes in to have a new exhaust system installed for $240, 2" pipe and a turbo muffler, i'm sure it'll sound like crap but at least it have more power then with a the rotten one leaking a few different spots. . . any idea the turbo's sound like om a 2.5er ? Mike

  17. Yep, i drive a Jeep too . . . what a fine Heap of a Jeep it is . . . it was even a cheap jeep heap :rotfl2: :rotf:  $300 Rust n dent's included no extra charge invested $200 in parts n 1 day's labor now i have $500 invested into a $1,500 truck that's out performing my $8,000 K2500 Diesel and I'd do it all again if i had too  JEEP POWER Never buy a low mileage diesel for a used truck dealer  , you'll be making payment on the broken diesel while your driving your rusty Jeep ;) Mike
  18. it's cool them big creatures only do 38-42mph  but if the brakes ever failed that 40mph can become deadly rather quick like. you got 785 Cubic inch V8 non turbo diesel turning 300hp n 900tq screaming 2,800rpm's with 10.11 gears n 54inch tires the forward momentum as impressive. less of course it my M123A1C then it have the VT-370M which is the turbo charged 785 V8 Cummins diesel turning 375hp n 1150tq rolling 45mph with 56inch tires  :clapping: . . . I got my build plannned out just waiting for the right truck n price then i'm going to start building. . . Mike
  19. Never ran a 460 myself, mostly my Fords where 351's with the occasional 300-I6 or 400 V8, a few 361's . . . Mike
  20. they weight about 30,000LB's and are 23.3ft long x 9.5ft wide x 9.25ft tall. I'll take some space, but nobody seems to mess with ya ! Mike
  21. Ya i'll give you that the C-6 auto trans is beast ran built stage 2 Cast iron C-6 in the 78' Bronco now the truck was a brute in itself and the only Ford auto trans that never gave my any grief . . . nice truck 351M v8 c-6 trans 3.73 gears 265/75R16E's 3/4ton axles it was a nice Bronco . . . I don't know as i was all that hard on them i changed the fluid n filters routinely, i also made sure the gearing n tires match the job is was doing. The 03' F350 SD 5.4L had 4.33 gears n 285/75R16's it ran the highway cruising about 2300-2500rpm in OD and while towing i shut OD off and it ran 2,700-2,900rpm so there was plenty of gear behind that transmission it should have felt much of the load at all. . . The 95' F150 might have been my fault truck came stock with 31x10.50R15's n 3.55's i went up to 33x10.50R15's n left the 3.55's as i wasn't towing anything, it was protected with an add on cooler and stage 1 shift kit, maybe i should have geared it down to 3.73's ? or the 3.89's ? they offered both set's as I thought about it but i never towed hauled pushed pulled or drug anything with it just drove it . . . yes they where the 33x10.50's i went with the skinny's not the standard 33x12.50's or the floater 33x15.50's . . .they where Super swamper TSL radial's, some of the guy's where telling me it wasn't the extra 2 inches as much as the extra weight apparently the Radial Mudder's where a good bit heavier then the factory 31x10.50's. . . Mike
  22. Naw you ain't any crazier then I, I have saved and rebuilt several truck's that had no business on the road way's some of them i even drove for years while thy were dangerous before fixing them up to like new. . . I normally mess with the truck most dare not, i collect n used 1952-1978 1ton's-semi's and larger. . . here's an example of larger: M123A1C towing a D11 Cat: M123A1C that pulled 300 ton's aka 600,000LB's: M123A1C Blinging: I'm looking to own a truck like the 3 pictured above . . .those are Truck's. . . The MJ is just a toy  Mike
  23. I doubt that Fords tranny was stock the engine sure wasnt, build them right and you can tractor pull with them. IMHO the ZF manuals behind the diesel arent any stronger then the auto, the old 5spd does seem to be a little better then the 6spds though I was comparing my experiences personally and the Granny 4spd in my 77' F350 is way stronger then the E40D my 95' F-150 had i smoked 3 of them in 155K miles and that truck never towed anything, the auto trans in the 03' F-350SD 5.4L which i feel is also an E40D but some say its not either way smoked 2 of them in 115K miles n that truck only tows a skid loader all summer n plowed snow all winter. The 1977 Ford F-350 dumper is pushing 300K miles and smoked 1 clutch at 190K miles, it towed 18K-lb's all summer long and used to plow snow in the winter as well . . . I retired 77' F350 from plowing when i got the 03' F350 then a few summers later i retired the 77' to my personal fleet of collector truck's . . .Run's flawlessly still tons of power . . . it is 1 of very few Ford's my AMC/GMC loving @zz likes . . . Mike
  24. :rotf: :Canadaflag: :rotf: :USAflag: :rotf: US CA conversions . . . Mike
  25. Very cool, that is an awful lot of miles . . . :rotf: look at me calling 340K a lot of miles, Most my truck's have between 300-500K miles :rotf: :rotfl2: its true sad but true :hmm: of course there also 30-50 years old as well. . . Mike
