I would imagine you would have to transplant the engine harness and computer from the donor Vehicle as well as the engine I don't know the details of it but it might be easier then a 2.5 to 4.0 swap ? . . . I was told to do the AMC 4.0L I-6 swap, but when i saw the work needing to be done i chose to swap in an AMC-V8 instead Mike -

I was told the AMC 2.5L TBI 86'-90' and the 2.5L MPI was 91'-93' then they went to the Chrysler 2.5L 94'+ due to high cost of manufacturing the AMC-2.5. Look for an MJ/XJ or Cherokee / Comanche 2.5L 86'-90' would be ideal. the 86' 2.5L TBI = 117hp & 135tq but the 87'-90' 2.5L TBI = 121hp & 140tq, not sure if its the engine itself that makes the extra power or the Computer system ? it could be interchangeable . . . Now if you wanted to do the extra work the AMC-2.5L MPI makes 130hp & 150tq and might get better MPG's ? Mike -
:fs1: Hey now :wall: The MJ AMC-20 is a fine axle too and already has 4.10s . . . 4.10's would be the ideal all around gear. I let some body else do gear swap's on axles i don't know, and on axles i know well i let the experts do it especially if its a valuable machine or a non replaceable axle . . . Mike

Questions about my Turbo Diesel MJ.

Renault 2.1L 85hp & 136tq, i can't really imagine that truck being anything other then scary to drive . . . With the lack of power it can't be all that easy on fuel as your always on the throttle ? VM Italian CRD 2.8L 140hp & 236tq, now i could this one getting outstanding MPG's and not getting one killed while driving it. I still think the maintenance repairs ect of both of the engines are going to way off set the fuel cost of them selves . . . Mike -
Looks good, Ya gotta love American trucks, oh a bit of tip for winter starts mix your fuel. 10:1 Diesel / Gasoline. 1 gallon of gas per 10 gallons of diesel, yes even if its winter blend. Mike

I was bord and bumming around on you tube and I watch your truck with the 6cylinder gas engine walk a sled on the track to a full pull or rather a couple yards further. Lots of power ! The M5? Series had . . . Mike

Year ? Make ? Model ? Is there any AMC Logos on this truck ? Mike
-
Sounds like a beast man ! The 465 is a good power plant, now all ya gotta do is swap out them 11.00-20 split rim tube type widow makers with some nice 11R24.5s and enjoy the safety savings and the 5-7mph in road speed. The 11R22.5s will do the same but they'll slow ya down 5-7mph. Mike
-
Its cool, nothing wrong with looking cheap . . . My Comanche is parked next to several newer nicer better vehicles everyday. I don't mind it none tho they got shiney paint and make big payments, I got rust dents and holes with no payments ! Funny part is they alwast wanna borrow my truck to haul some thing lol Mike

You offered he accepted sounds like all involved are happy, now that you got a killer price on great truck you'll always be money ahead. Post photos of it when ya get can. Do add a shot or 2 to this thread as well ! Now some advice on tires I know the super singels look cool but they are expensive, the 11R22.5s are shorter then the 11.00*20s. I strongly recommend the 11R24.5s for any 5ton. Mike
-
2500 ! ? ! . . . Around a rough condition 5ton that runs drives is 5000-7500 all day long ! But it before he changes His mind and don't look back ! ! ! Mike
