  1. AM-G company history 1903-present: http://www.amgeneral.com/corporate/history.php This is what i found . . . Mike
  2. 5ton tractor dressed up: all of this can be done with the Jeep body style 5ton as well, the 10 lug axles are the same bolt pattern as semi truck, the 2.5Ton only has 6 lug axles making wheel/tire combo's limited and costly to get . . . 5ton's  Mike
  3. :headpop: the MJ cab parts disappeared from the website :fs1: now how am i going to get my rocker panels . . . Mike
  4. they are nice cheap heap  Mike
  5. The beauti of Mil-Spec truck is they are more appted to run after sitting a long time versus a civillian truck. I'd the truck fires up and runs for 30Min it'll drive around the world. Mike
  6. You did that because instead of buying special order split rim tune type tires of which nobody stocks don't blow one out lol You can simply swap on a set of 11R24.5s from a junk semi and have a cheaper safer always in stock wheel/tire combo and nice S cam airbrakes instead of hydrolic weak ya may stop ya may not breaks. Oh all your engine and drive train parts are instock and interchangable with regisle commercial trucks. If ya wanna swap out your 250 cummins / 5spd for a 400 cummins/ 7-9spd trans with 12R24.5 tires your 5ton now dose 65mph all day long ! Now the M900s already run 65mph and have automatics even. That's why you went to a 5ton that and 2.5tons are doggy and you can't do much to them without it being a cut chop weld project the 5ton is a bolt up n go ! Mike
  7. I belive the photo says "J10" . . . It would be cool if they did a Comanche off the Dakota chassie and a J series off the RAM chassie. Mike
  8. So then did AMC do some double dipping ? Cause AMC jeep and AMC General were producing 2.5 and 5ton trucks at the same time up about 1982ish when AMG did to totale remodel of the 5ton for 83+ the Jeep body style 2.5 n 5 tons ran till 92' the AMG went till 99'/01' ish . . . Then they droprd to light humvee prodction. Mike
  9. Its a little V8 only 290 cubs 10.2:1 I might rebuild it 30 over bore 296Ci and a stock AMC-401 cam 500cfm 2bbl on 4bbl manifold should get me 215-235hp n 240-260tq with a 1500-4500rpm power curve. Strong pulling quick reving should pull good when loaded and yet be playful when empty. I'm also told running that build with a 5spd 4.10s. On 235s truck should get slightly better fuel mileage then the 2.5 4Spd. 3.73 combo I got now ? I believe when I see it. Mike
  10. all of those except cab corners can be had . . . nobody offers any of them yet you'll have to build your own . . . I wounder what a batch of cab corners costs ? maybe i could buy 1 set of cab corners for the price of a whole batch ? . . . Mike
  11. Very nice . . . Mike
  12. Beautiful dog's  . . . the Jeep ain't half bad either ;) Mike
  13. you think so :???: Mike
  14. 88 Comanche 4.0L 4x4 Short Bed- <-Here :clapping: . . . Naw these tend to be very reliable low maintenance trucks  Mike
  15. Yup its a hideous beast, but I bet out of all the Jeep pickups that would the one Cryco would try out  :rotfl2: :rotf: :shake: :hmm: I would drive it only because its a PU that says "Jeep" and it would keep my MJ out of the salt during winter ;) Mike
  16. After owning a 2.5ton I highly suggest the 5ton trucks they are adaptable and update able everything bolts right up. Every thing interchanges with modern commercial trucks. Mike
  17. Yup can't figure it out Buy up somebody who has it figured out or the ability to figure it out ;) The all RAM front suspension of 94'+ ? funniest thing looks just like the same design AMC had in 1984, well it came on 84'+ XJ's and all MJ's . . . so it prolly was designed about 82ish . . . Mike
  18. Thanks much guys ! Mike
  19. I was including AM-General as it was an AMC owned truck manufacturer. Mid 70s to Mid 80s AMC split the 2 and Jeep became the civilian truck line and AM-General became the military truck line. Kind of like GMC n Chevy, GMC used to be the commecial line and Chevy was the private party line. Mike
  20. Oh FYI AM-General is alive and well still manufacturing trucks. Check it out: Amgeneral.com Mike
  21. Notice the AMC logo by the AM General ? I know Kaiser Jeep did many of the jeep brand trucks, but if you get to see the data tags you'll notice that the AMC Jeep Corp built many of them to. The M800's were AMC Jeep Corp and the M900s were AMC AM General Corp. The AMClogo appeared on both the 2.5 and 5ton trucks. The M800s listed as AM Generals were Remans of earlier Kaiser Jeeps, when they got remanufactured they got a new data plate and model year so your 58' M818 Kaiser is now a 1972 AM General and so forth. But none the less you will see plenty of AMC Jeep's in the 2.5 n 5 ton 6x6s . . . Yes on the reman deal even the AMC jeeps would become newer AMC AMGenerals. M??? Original XM??? Reman. Mike
  22. I like the AMC "SporTruck" hockey stick shaped stripe ! Mine comes up the door and down the side of the bed. Black truck and metallic silver stripe very sexy but mines fading and cracking, I would like a replacement set if they offer one other wise I may have take a few pics and have mine painted on and sealed on when it gets clear coated ! Mike
  23. Well I'm sure my scenario was more detailed then anybody would go, I was just thinking of how they would of had it set up for mil-spec use if jeep would offered a military MJ. Mike
  24. Ya know what, I bet it could be done it would even solve the wheel well rusting issue's on both ends ;) use a steal drum or trailer fender's for the new wheel well's . . . used the bed of the 1/4ton trailer and shazzam you got yourself an MJ-715  Toss on some 7.00-15 NDT's for good measure shoot a coat of green paint and stencil the hood up star on the door  Mike
  25. :???: Battle ship Grey ? . . . did it come with that grill ? it looks different then my MJ ? . . . Mike
