  1. Well i was going for an AMC truck theme 2WD 4WD 6WD 10WD . . . But given that i am an AMC fan and the Eagle 4x4's are vintage Crossovers I would say they count too  My favorite Jeep the M818 5ton 6x6 truck tractor: My second favorite Jeep the M275A2 2.5ton 6x6 truck tractor: Mike
  2. Jeep M715 67'-69': Mike
  3. WTH just passed an MJ just like mine only rust free with steal wheels asking. $2200OBO ! I should of stopped and got the run down for you guys but I was working n couldn't . . . I actually thought about getting it myself but 1 tiny Compact truck is enough I don't need 2 knee bruisers . . . Mike
  4. Rather then continue the derailing of the other thread's let chat about AMC truck's here . . . CJ's J's MJ's XJ's M's FSJ's and any other truck you can think of :clapping: Mike
  5. Yes this is why i made a thread for AMC truck production discussion, I think its my fault :fs1:  Sorry Mike
  6. AMC's trucks discussion: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24783 Mike
  7. The American Motors Jeep/General Corporation spent over 2 decades producing truck's From this small: To this Big: The M900 series truck where the largest to carry the AMC logo  Mike
  8. I think there was some Customer loyalty issues as well . . . the 86'-88' the MJ numbers steadily increased 89'-92' the number's dropped off, I think the "OMG Jeep is owned by some one else" fear caused the MJ to take a sales Hit . . . CryCo saw it as competing with themselves and discontinued the "other" brands truck's . . . Had GM of bought them AMC would have prolly continued to run as AMC  it would have been " AMC Buick Chevrolet GMC Oldsmobile Pontiac Jeep" dealer . . . :clapping: you know i'm right . . . Mike
  9. there 225/75R16 tires's . . . D44's i'm guessing its a kit using the J-truck dually axle hub's as those where D44/D70 axle configuration so a 2WD = D44 rear a 4WD MJ-DRW = D44/D44 . . . So there was other kits then ? coolness learn something new, I read some place they made like 9 or 10 of these truck's and shipped them out over sea's . . . So i just figured it was an Export only deal like the 86-92 VM 2.8L diesel's . . . We prolly should keep get this back on track . . . Here lets chat about AMC's truck's: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24783 Mike
  10. If you thinking about the JCW kit but the JCW kit's allowed you to duel the factory single rims it did NOT come with DRW rim's . . . I saw listed on a web site some place . .. Mike
  11. Well I could see that based on 2 things. 1. The MJ was lighter empty and had the same or slightly higher GVW n GCW as the other 3, making the payload higher. 2. The MJs 2.5 n 4.0 made more power then the 4 n 6 cylinder engine options the other 3 had in that time frame. AMC-2.5L = 86' 117hp / 135tq 87'-90' 121hp / 140tq 91'-93' 130hp / 150tq. GM-2.8 86' 115hp / 140tq. AMC-4.0L 87'-90' 177hp / 220tq 91'+ 195hp / 235tq. VM 2.8L turbo diesel 140hp / 236tq export only. Renault 2.1L diesel 85hp / 132tq US market. What was the GM Ford n Dodge engines for 86-92 ? Mike
  12. Just another cool Jeep for the over sea's market we in the states never get to have . . . Dose anybody know anything about these trucks ? All i can find is yes they are real and there was a run of them built and shipped over sea's and that was it for info . . . What axles dose it have ? what sized wheel/tire dose it run ? truck looks like a true dually with the wheels its got . . . Mike
  13. well the MJ to XJ production was like 1 in 10 . . . So i do see where the rareness of them comes into play. There 2 times as many Dakotas to MJ's and 4 times more Rangers and S-10's to Dakota's . . . But in the 86'-92' year range there seem's to be twice as many surviving MJ's compared to the other 3 mini trucks . . . :smart: So i would have to say the MJ's survival rate is by far higher  :dunno: I could be wrong tho :smart: Mike
  14. Nope what he needs to do is go over sea's and get himself the MJ-Dually and be done with it . . . Such as these: :clapping: I want one but there aint any really to be had :fs1: could one build such a unit :hmm: My V-8 / 5spd repower would make a perfect MJ dually  Mike
  15. Ah that explains the TJ. Now how ya averaging 19 from the MJ ? Mine floats between 14.8 - 15.2 during the winter and 15.5 - 15.7 during the summer. I have the short bed 2WD ! 2.5 / AX4 /3.73s with 235/75R15 tires. Mike
  16. Mileage ? Hmm the MJ burns less fuel then a TJ ? My MJ gets 14CTY-16HWY for MPGs, I currently have the 4banger soon to be an 8 banger . . . Mike
  17. All of the MJs I have seen got bookoo Miles on them all seem to have 250-350K miles on them. So they sure can last that is for sure and being an American pickup truck I am sure they got loaded well beyond there ratings for most of there loaded miles. Mike
  18. School district equipment maint don't sound like to be of job. Mike
  19. :clapping: This is why i ended up owning an MJ running driving truck with a complete brake job for $300 :clapping: The person who put my truck up for sale almost a yea ago replaced the whole braking system, Master cylinder drum's Rotor's caliper's Wheel cylinder's shoes pad's and all new lines then he replaced all of the external light bulbs he put 50-75 miles on the truck made sure it was and safe then sold the truck to me I been driving it continuously for 9months now . . . I love it best $300 truck i have ever bought  I have bought many $100-$1500 Vehicles :smart: Mike
  20. :hmm: So some of you happened to fall into your MJ's like i did, Others Got there MJ's on purpose  Very cool keep posting i am enjoying this, I find it enjoyable read as to how and or why you ended up with your MJ/MJ's :clapping: . . . Mike

  22. I chatted with some G/C guys they said yup GC XJ MJ all will interchange 2WD/4WD don't make a difference Mike
  23. I have a build thread for it i'm buying parts right now . . . I went with the AMC-290 V8, i'll be mating an AX-15 5spd behind it and swapping out my D35 with 3.73's for the MJ AMC-20 with 4.10's . . . I'm staying with the 235/75R15 sized tires :clapping: 3 step project: 1. restore body. 2. update interior. 3. replace drive train. Not really going in any order just taking it as it comes along :D for more info click the link in my Sig ;) Sorry for the :hijack: Mike
  24. I was just wondering how you got involved with your MJ's ? Me i get in roped in purely on a fluke . . . After a long rough winter 08'-09' with my 95' K2500 Diesel i decided i need a back up plan for winter 09'-10' . . . So i set out in search of a cheap heap in the $300-$500 range i wasn't looking for anything special just one of them heap you can buy today crush tomorrow deals. Well i ran into the little Jeep pickup truck it was running driving truck with all new breaks i offered $300 for it the owner himed and hawed over it a while then took my offer . . . 9Mo later i'm glued to it and have started a revival & repower of it  I'm going to restore the body, update the interior, upgrade the suspension and replace the drive train. MJ short bed 2WD; Current set up: AMC-150 I4 / AX-4 / D35 with 3.73's / 235-75r15 tires, 14-16mpg  New set up: AMC-290 V8 / AX-15 / AMC-20 with 4.10's / 235-75R15 tires i'm told i should jump up to 15-17mpg :hmm: anywho thats my MJ story whats yours ? Mike
