  1. I'm honestly not sure. Originally I never thought I could be happy with a renix jeep, so I had planned to sell my 88 MJ after making this a daily driver. But now that I've done a bunch of renix improvements (biggest improvement by far was the newer ECU, it changed everything) I'm pretty happy with the performance of my 88 MJ. I would like to make it an overland rig, but the cost of doing that, the way I would want to, is absurd. I wanted to put an aluminum flatbed on it but I just don't have the time and space to fabricate it (I'm not bad at welding aluminum with tig or a mig spoolgun) and they are unbelievably expensive. But I mean just look at them, https://www.mainlineoverland.com/products/norweld-full-size-6-5-foot-bed-tray How can I ever be happy with another truck bed after seeing that?! I'm also looking to restore my first car (1964 El Camino) so I may just get this 91 MJ put back together and sell it to help finance that project.
  2. Pained front of engine and brackets. New harmonic balancer, flowkooler water pump, water outlet, thermostat, coolant temp sensor.
  3. Cleaned and painted the passenger side of the engine block, as well as many other parts. Installed cap/rotor/plugs/wires.
  4. Removed bad and cleaned and primed then painted the frame with Rust-Oleum Professional High Performance Enamel. It was free of all but minor surface rust.
  5. Painted the engine bay with Chrysler Radiant Fire Red,
  6. Some sound deadening
  7. Rust Bullet BlackShell,
  8. Rust Bullet inside cab,
  9. Began with patching passenger side floor pan,
  10. Long term, slow going project.
  11. Saw a neat video on an 88 Olympic Edition recently, https://www.facebook.com/DennisCollins/videos/low-mileage-olympic-edition-jeep-comanche-pickup/134614425205224/
  12. Installed the new Portuguese made German relays today.
  13. Did cruiser54 Tip 31-Throttle body to MAP hose upgrade today. I was getting tired of occasionally starting my truck and getting the crap scared out of me by a crazy high idle. Only seven more tips to go on the list now!
  14. Maybe, but it should still start and then immediately die once the key is returned to "RUN" because the pump is powered via the starter relay while cranking, then ECU powers it via the ballast resistor circuit (I believe, I newish to renix). That's how mine acts with the wire unplugged at the ballast resistor. Best to troubleshoot rather than guess imo. Must begin with verifying no fuel pressure at the line before the filter. IF there is fuel pressure before the filter: verify filter is installed correctly. IF filter is installed correctly, move to the rail/injectors. if pressure is present at the rail, troubleshoot injectors/injector wiring. IF there is not fuel pressure in the line before the filter: verify battery voltage at the pump. If not present troubleshoot electrical issue. If there is battery voltage, remove the pump and look to the sock or other pump components.
  15. Regardless of what you hear, or which parts are new, I would listen to MiNi Beast. I'm sure he meant to write "test spark plugs for spark". A common troubleshooting path is to test for spark, then fuel delivery, then compression, then things like timing if necessary. In this case it is fine to test for fuel delivery first. Personally I would recommend a fuel pressure gauge. I use this one, Fuel PSI gauge . Is the gas 10 years old? This isn't a zombie movie ya know.
  16. Made in Portugal. How do we feel about that? Doesn't sound bad to me.
  17. Thanks! I will probably go this route when I get back to my 91 MJ. I deleted the floor shifter and plan to convert it to column shift.
  18. I see the Mopar ones are $21.66 new vs Bosch at $8.69. Do you think Mopar are better? I believe Cruiser said somewhere that Bosch were the best replacement relays. I know I'm being a bit tedious replacing parts that are not bad, and not part of regualr maintenance.
  19. That's good one. Btw, I'm well on my way to completing all of your renix tips. Thank you for all of your contributions to the community! What about the factory 5 terminal relays, would replacing them with new Bosch relays improve reliability? I'm sure the contacts inside the original relays must have built some carbon on the contacts of the springs are tired by now.
  20. I tried that. Tired rotating both 180 and 360.
  21. No more BS C101 or sensor ground splices. Found what looked like duct tape on my fuel injector ground splice. Also found that some well meaning person at one time had eliminated the factory sensor ground splices using a big butt connector. Got it all soldered and heat shrunk now.
  22. Completed Cruiser's tips 3 (Connector and relay/receptacle refreshing ) and 4 (Coil/ICM contacts) yesterday. Looks like Ill be doing tips 2 - C101 connector elimination and 6 – Sensor ground upgrade today.
  23. When you say, what exactly is it that you are hooking up to the f-250? Are you jump starting the jeep? How are you detecting that the new pump runs, sound? With the fuel line off of the rail, the pump does not pump fuel when on?
  24. ghetdjc320 is making the switch cover filters and HVAC panels,
  25. I love the room since this is my work truck. Departure angle is frustrating though. I damn near ripped my bumper off getting to a worksite a while back.
