Rear brake proportioning valve Pics ?
AMC86Kid replied to AMC86Kid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i think i figured it out the smaller skinny bracket helps block out the brake line -
i was wondering if anyone can post a pic of what the bracket placements are suppose to be like i took mine apart to paint it and now when i put it back together i can't remember exactly where it goes https://ibb.co/mzKyRa i think i have the big bracket in the top right good and i know where the bracket in the far left goes but its the one that i placed in the middle that i can't remember exactly i just remember that it blocks out lines from gettin in the way I'm looking for were this one goes https://ibb.co/mOsPzv basically of pic of a stock rear underbody would help me out thanks

sound like a good idea i will use it untill i have more money to replace the whole thing
-
I'm just restoring it for a daily driver around town but i get it i should change out the bushings when i get a chance i think i will change them but on a later date there are still to many other things i got to fix for now
-
is it possible to hammer them in and out or is that to hard?
-
thanks guys but i think i will just reuse the old ones it dosent look like its worth the effort and i really don't think new ones will make the ride that much more smoother
-
ok thanks is there a special tool to press them in and out with is it possible to just hammer them in and out? or should i not worry about it and just reuse the old ones

I took off the leaf springs so that i can prime them so they don't rust but i was wondering if its possible to change the rubber part on them if yes how and what are they called ?
-
i would cut out all the rust in squares and rectangles then weld in with sheet metal and bed coat over to protect it from happing again it you have a spare Cherokee that will help you cut and paste it together
-
i like stock flares the most i really don't see the point of putting on new flares that everyone else can also buy but its just personal preference i guess
-
can you post pics of both ?
-
you should only level the truck if you need high performance like a off roading Baja race truck, they level it so that the vehicle can be balance when turning at high speeds, other then that if your just going to use it for normal use and you often load up the bed with stuff then you want the bed to be a few inches higher to compensate for the load

The lights should work the same but the fuel pump might be different not sure what fuel pumps each model had

How to take apart the Tailgate ?
AMC86Kid replied to AMC86Kid's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thanks guys yea i already had a camera from an old usb webcam that i had in the house it costs me nothing will try to mount it like you said -
Does anyone know how to take apart the tailgate ? i am trying to install a custom rear view camera in it because there is no were convenient to install it on the bumper i see that its spot wielded together but i thought maybe someone has took theres apart to fix it like if it needed body work i also checked online but all i could find was how to take the tailgate handle apart not the actual tailgate my plan was to install the camera some-wear in the middle of the tailgate either above or below the JEEP logo then run a wire threw it to the corner of the truck and up to the cabin i know that its tricky but i already have the truck tooken all apart and i havent painted it yet so now would be a good time to do it
-
you can install any tire hoist it does not have to be an MJ one all it does is lower and raise the spare tire i would just grab one off of any old truck and find a way to bolt it to your frame i recently removed mine so i can clean it but i do not have the rod that you place in the metal pipe to turn the wire up and down not even sure of what it looks like so I'm probably just gonna have to make a custom one and keep it in the cabin since you say yours is already open can you take a pic of what the inside looks like ? i might open mine up and clean it on the inside as well

yes i have looked at many the DIY's on the forum (i would say around 50 of them) but a lot of them i feel don't explain the process of what they did thoroughly enough so after i read it, it leaves me with questions in my head i will give you an example: http://comancheclub.com/topic/14466-broken-door-hinge-welds-cheap-n-easy-fix/ i have to fix the sagging door on my driver side so i looked at this DIY they guy says that the door fell off so he cut out the hole and cleaned up the welds on the unibody but how should you remove the door if its cracked and sagging but still half connected to the unibody ? should you just bend the door up and down till it breaks off that way you can ensure that you clean up all the warped metal on the unibody ? or should you cut the welds off with a cutting disc or a plasma cutter ? i agree that making an new internal bracket is the way to go but how does he know where exactly to rebolt the door hinge ? and also it looks like the bracket is bolted on but you can see the other side so how did he tighten the nuts on the other side of the bracket did he just weld them on the back side of the bracket and then the bolts would be able to self tighten at that point ? i also looked at this post and i really disslike the external bracket so I'm going to go with the method above http://comancheclub.com/topic/26948-busted-door-hinge-repair/

i surprisingly do not have to put that much bondo on the bed since i spent about 3 days hammering out all the dents if you want i can post a pic of it all sanded and bondo up ?

i get what you guys are saying but maybe you guys don't understand why i even started posting on some of my posts i don't know what it is or what to do with it so i ask you guys ( for example the brake control leveler in the rear, i had no clue what that was for ) but on many of my posts i feel like i pretty much have a good basic understanding of what to do its just i would feel more confident if i asked you guys just to see if you agree with what I'm thinking ive learned that a lot of times someone who is older and a lot more knowledgable has already done what i have attempted and it makes jobs so much easier when someone tells you what you have to do before you do it and gives you hints or tips haven't you guys ever worked on something for your vehicle then after you finished it read a post of the very same thing and said "oh i wish i had read this before i did it on mine" all I'm doing is trying to prevent that ( wish i knew before i started feeling ) I'm the type of person that likes to know exactly what i have to do before i do it I'm not sure why but thats just the way i am and one last note ever time i posted i felt like i was helping the forum out because i usually always post a pic or two so i was thinking that all the info and the pics that i posted helps out other people and other posts because they can reuse my same pics if you guys want i can make a educational DIY on how i fixed this or how did i restore that with tons of pics and good info since I'm fixing the whole truck anyways also sorry if any of you feel like i was wasting your time that wasn't my intention

LED headlights I've never seen before.

Those headlights reminds me of that drunken ghey guy eyeing you from across the bar lol -
so after i got done fixing most of the dents in the beat up bed i started sanding the paint and i found out the the original color of the truck is black but some one has spray painted it teal so my question was, should i sand off both colors or just the teal ? my guess was sand it down to the metal around all area that will be getting bondo but just sand it down to the black in area that will just be getting repainted and have no body work done to them what do you guys think ?

i just use the FSM that i found posted online whats wrong with that one ?
