  2. Bearings in the alternator are shot. Replace it. Just went thru this. Truck would start and run fine. Then the alternator would stop charging. Pop the hood, broken belt. Would spin all the pulleys by hand, no problem. Replaced the belt. It lasted less than 5 minutes. Replaced the belt 3 times B4 I figured it out. The alternator would spin when turned by hand. When running the engine the alt would freeze and there went the belt. Replaced the alt. All is fine.
  3. I believe the proper term for most of us is PACK RAT.
  4. Belay that. I have a 1995 piston and rod. It appears they are different from the 96. I can't find any info on them. Maybe you can. Jim
  5. $50 shipped
  6. Don. According to your chart, it's a '93. TNX buddy.
  7. I've got a '88 and a '94 sitting side by side. I could just go drop the pans, pull the heads and compare them, but that's a lot of bother just for a little knowledge.
  8. Tnx Noriyon. I suspected that's what it was but wasn't sure. One thing threw me off it has the Chrysler Penta Star logo all over it. I didn't think they started doing that until '91 or 2.
  9. Isn't the piston and rod the same for all 4.0's ? Or was the '88-91 different?
  10. I am trying to determine the year of a 4.0 engine I have and did not label when I pulled it. Any help appreciated. The tag on the distributor reads 53021352M 9 357 47 88 553537 PLT B/CODE YR DATE 560 NUM I am assuming this means it is an 1988. Anyone help? DON??
  11. Those old bed rails look like they would be great for making stuff bur they're just not worth the trouble. Too much carbon. They're a b*@$£ to weld and a pain to cut with anything but a torch or a chop saw.
  12. Don't abuse it, it will last longer than you will.
  13. A short block is just the block and all internal parts. No head. A Long block includes the head. and may or may not include the valve cover(s).
  14. It's referred to as a 'valance panel' I believe it's welded to the frame so you won't find it listed in any repair manuals. Only special body shop manuals.

WITH ALL THE COMEDIANS out of work in this country, how did two of them manage to wind up on CC? And by the way, Her toe nails are the wrong shade for those shoes.

    Shoe laces

Why is it we can send a man to the moon but can't invent shoe laces that don't break when you're in a hurry to get dressed?

  23. Ran a ad in Trade-a-Plane. Sold them both to the Confederate Air Force in Harlington, Tx
  24. Am well aware of their size. In 1976 I bought two of them at a surplus auction in Albuquerque. Had to rent a U-Haul to get them home. And I didn't think there was anything ridiculous about them. Other than the fact that i got them in the first place and didn't have a foggiest idea in Hell of what I was was going to do with 'em.
  25. It was used in the P51, F51, P38, Hawker Hurricane, Bristol B1 Spitfire and several others. Not sure but believe it was also used in some tanks.
